Dilemma in setting subwoofer

I've connected my subwoofer (PSB SUBSONIC 2) from LFE output from my amp (pioneer VSX-AX2AS).My subwoofer don't have LFE input. So I've connected it thru LR input (I plug it to RIGHT hole). So I've set my LFE to 80hz and level it to 0db at my AVR. I've put my volume gain at sub to 3 O'clock. My problem is when I turn my crossover gain to max 150hz (My subwoofer don't have bypass crossover switch) my subwoofer sound boomy but when I point it to 80hz it's sound much better.Logically when I've set my LFE at AVR to 80hz so only 80hz signal will come in to my sub is't. When I turning my crossover at sub between min and max with test tone there have different sound between it. Pls help me
