Similar motherboards?

I somehow got my motherboard busted so i am looking to replace it. I know next to nothing about them so i was wondering if anyone knows what motherboard should i get to replace my old one.

The old one is SiS 661FX + 964.

Or should i just get a new computer altogether. Well it would be cheaper to just replace the motherboard since i just do simple stuff like surfing the net and very little work on it so i wont really need to get something state-of-the-art. Another thing is that i just bought some RAM so it would be kind of a waste since if I am not mistaken, most new comps dont use DDR memory right?

Hope you guys can suggest what i should do: replace the whole comp or just the motherboard? Thanks in advance.

@All: Thanks guys. Will get the comp checked to make sure it really is my motherboard that is busted since i am kinda noobish at this kind of stuff.

Comp wont start up

My comp was actually fine till it suddenly froze while i was surfing the net. Ctrl+Alt+Del did nothing. Alt+F4 was also ineffective. The cursor did not move with my mouse anymore. So i went and held the POWER button for a few seconds to reboot.

After that, my comp just refuses to start up. It shouldnt be my monitor as it seems to be fine. I turned it on and off and it said that there is no signal. The CPU just keeps whirring (like when it is working at full power) for a long time but still nothing shows up on monitor. The red light which usually flashes really quickly now flashes quite slowly. This happens EVERY time i restart. Nothing i did could bring it back to normal.

That is all i have noticed so far. My guess is that the video card is fried and hence nothing is displayed. What do you guys think is the problem? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: For the record, I did try googling it but I still cant actually pinpoint the actual problem.

@acbc: I did think of that. Guess I will check it tomorrow morning.

@k!nex: Now that you mention it, that seems like the most likely cause. Ah well... will get it checked later.

wordart help?

Hi. I just got Microsoft Office 2007 recently and I am still not too used to it.

I realised that the way wordart functions is different from the 2003 version. In the older one, I can choose blank wordart and fill in my own colours etc. But for the new one, I can only choose from the preset colours or only make single colour wordart. Eg, in 2003 office, it is possible to choose 2 different colours for the wordart. And I am not too sure how the stop thing works. So can someone teach me (regarding both issues) ? I did google it but haven't found any solutions yet.

Thanks.

EDIT: @tvcat: Sorry, I was referring to the fill. Cant upload because i dont have 2003 with me currently. As far as i can remember, in office 2003, for the wordart, you can choose up to 2 diff colours for the fill.

autorun.inf

Hi, I hope I am in the right part of the forum. Yea I know this may be a stupid question but please bear with me. I had just updated my Avira antivirus program to the latest version (version 10.0.0.561 and my virus definition is ver 7.10.05.241) recently and now it blocks the autorun.inf. Never seen that file in my thumbdrive before and when i opened it i found the file and deleted. Autoplay still works though. Anyway, when I insert my thumbdrive and Autoplay starts, my antivirus program will show a notice that autorun is blocked in the A drive. My thumbdrive has 2 parts, A drive for manual and encryption tool while E drive is where the regular info is stored. The autorun is blocked from the A drive but when i open it i cannot find the autorun thing. I had autorun.inf before on my old com before but usually my antivirus ( avast usually detects it. AVG only sometimes). But last time on my old coms the thumbdrives cant be opened. It is possible here. So i am just quite confused. Sorry for the disorganised post. I installed avast in my new com and it didnt detect anything this time. Is Avira too sensitive?

@flodder: That's why I am worried. Only Avira managed to find it but didnt remove it. Dont know why....

@duncan880409 and helangkawi: Sorry for being messy. Will rephrase some time later. Avira didnt delete it. Just blocked it. I deleted it from E drive. The autoplay still works after i reinserted it. That's why i find it weird and feel worried. Sorry again.

EDIT: I think i found out what the problem is already. There is nothing wrong with my com. It's the other com I am using that kena virus. That's why every time i put it in, when i bring it back to my current com, the autorun.inf file appears again. So nvm la.

Btw the problem i was facing is like this. I put my flashdrive into my com and autorun.inf is blocked automatically. As i scan my stuff quite often and i recently got the newer version, I thought there was something wrong since the last time i got this virus was in my old com ( always infect the flash drive . btw the old com was using windows xp) i could not open the flashdrive. But with my new com, it could be opened. So i felt that something is not too right. So yea. No big deal now. Just need to get the other com fixed ( it's not mine btw). Thanks guys btw.

Nokia 5800 XM or N79 Sports Pack

Hi. I am planning to get either a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music or a Nokia N79. I am not so worried about the price cos both are free with my postpaid plan. Wont list the here though cos scared that might be out of topic. There are other phones that are offered like the Sony ericsson T715, C903, W910i and many other phones but i guess that is kinda out of topic also. So which should i choose? I like both and each has their pros and cons. Which would you recommend? If you would like to know the whole list of phones offered and the phone plans (there are 2 different phone plans) can pm me. Thanks. I hope to solve the issue soon.

Microsoft Works?

Hi. First of all if this is in the wrong place then i apologise cos i dont know where else to put this. Any way, in my acer laptop there is this thing called Microsoft Works when i click on the Welcome Centre. Is this one free? I just found out that the microsoft office wasnt preinstalled. Thanks.

EDIT: Oh well. I guess there is no harm giving it a try. Otherwise there is always OpenOffice which I am already starting to get used to anyway. Thanks.

Annoying message when opening program

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I am aware that there will be programs that wont be compatible. I have a few programs such as Malwarebytes' Antimalware. When i try to open them, this message will pop up.

' Do you want the following program to make changes to your computer? '

The program will work as long as i click Yes. But i find it annoying when i keeps popping up whenever i open it. The shortcut icon on the desktop has this blue and yellow shield at the bottom right corner. Can anyone help? Thanks.

EDIT: Oh found it. I think I will just try to tahan the message cos it may risk my computer, right? Thanks anyway.

Btw the Revo Unintaller message is slightly different. It says that the program's publisher is unknown. I guess it's the same anyway.

Oh yea, for some reason, i cant print screen when the message is shown. Print screen during other times is alright. Funny...

EDIT: Thanks FarCry3r. And yes it did help.

To fariz: Umm yeah but it's just that i'm not exactly used to the pop up thing every time i use it.
Weird sound in camera

My camera is a Sony Cybershot DSC-W180. For some reason, the camera started to make a weird sound a few days ago whenever the lens move like when zooming or when turning it on or off. I don't remember that sound before. I suspect that it may be because it came in contact with soem water when my bottle leaked. Actually, the bottle didnt really leak that much and the cam was in the pouch. When i took it out, it was dry. So what should I do now? Thanks.

EDIT: Umm well I am not exactly near where i bought it and probably may not be able to do so until mid of year and in where i am staying now it will probably cost a lot just to check. Thanks anyway ( especially because i actually wanted to open the cam but decided against it). I am still open to any other alternatives, not that yours is not good Johan-N. Just want to see if there is any other way.

Microsoft Office activation issue

Hi. i recently bought my Acer laptop which has the Office 60 days trial. I heard that to activate it, I can use the 25 alphanumeric code on the Certificate of Authenticity which can be found under the laptop. But when i try it, it say that the code is invalid. Any idea why? Can someone tell me how to fix this problem?
Still find it difficult to use Openoffice. Thanks.

EDIT:Oh ok. But shouldnt it come preinstalled?

EDIT: Oh ok... Thanks. Looks like I'll need to get used to Open Office. *sigh*
