[WTA] Mic calibration

Guys, any idea who/where offers mic calibration services and the pricing/packages. Or better yet, anyone who's selling calibrated mics. I was thinking about using one of those free generic cal file but if it's not prohibitively expensive, a bona fide calibrated mic would be sweet.

And another question: would anyone want to bulk a calibrated mic from here? There seems to be many here who own expensive gear, so one little mic isn't gonna cost much

My DIY Panels

Just to share my DIY panels for a listening room. It might look concise but the work done certainly isn't ;D

OK let's start:
Aluminum bars, individually trimmed to the correct size and angle. These originally come in 20ft lengths and a mitre saw cannot cut so cleanly. A lot of time was spent preparing these bars with hand shears.

Panels dressed up in fabric, some have FRKs attached, awaiting to be fitted into the frames. There's one completed panel there.
You do not want to handle spray glue and the raw panels with your bare hands. What will happen is fine specks of rock will get stuck into the pores of your skin. Plus, spray glue remains tacky for up to 12 hours.

__________________________
That's all for the materials that are prepared beforehand. Now onto the drilling of the frames and assembling of the complete panels. From start till now, these took maybe two months.

[addedon]February 6, 2010, 9:56 am[/addedon]My rig. All you need is a work bench, a drill with a stand, and some hand tools. A big shaded space is important if you want to save time by building larger batches. You can lay out everything so it's easier to see which part goes where. I build in batches of two 'coz I'm lazy and have loads of distraction, and it takes me a whole day.

Drilling four bars at one go. Drilling anymore would affect the precision. I've also learned that the better drill bits are so much faster and precise. I must've drilled over 1000 holes, I've even come up with a theory on why it's impossible to drill perfectly round holes in aluminum. The concrete cutter on the bench is for some other work.

[addedon]February 6, 2010, 9:57 am[/addedon]Drilled pieces awaiting to be attached together. One panel consists of twenty aluminum pieces. This is why you need a big space to lay out all the pieces neatly. I built six panels simultaneously one day, it was confusing as hell to keep track of each piece, even with markings. The plastic tupperware of waste was filled to the brim with rivet pins after everything was done.

Next, the frame is riveted together and fitted onto the panels prepared earlier. This is when it all comes together. The raw panels aren't exactly and/or consistently cuboid shaped so the frame has to accommodate this irregularity.

__________________________
Wash, rinse, repeat every weekend/annual leave/medical leave as many times as you care to. And then you will end up will a good number of panels. From start till now, three months.

[addedon]February 6, 2010, 10:00 am[/addedon]Damn, can someone post something. Pic limit exceeded. I still have more pics =)
