How is everything in Malaysia

Sup fellas,

How is everything in Malaysia? Still gooding? I heard Anwar will get sodomized in prison soon, together with 8 other UM students. Sultan also seem to bising lately.

Everything is good here in the States. Good life, quite happy. Not much worries or stress, except for school. Feel safe at home. Wife and daughter also seem much happier with their life. Still no racism encountered. Even the black folk are pretty nice.

For all the hatred among races, nations, religions

If you can't watch, it's a speech by Carl Sagan. Here's a transcript:

“From this distant vantage point, the Earth might not seem of particular interest. But for us, it's different. Consider again that dot. That's here, that's home, that's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.

Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.

It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”

Living in The USA

2 weeks ago on the 28th of July 2014, I landed in Chicago, IL, USA. Since then, I have been living here with my in-laws at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, a small town of 90,000 ish people.

Perhaps the most jarring thing I've found so far is what we get here on TV.

It's currently election season for Wisconsin, and the campaign machinery for both parties (Democrats and Republicans) are in full swing. It's between incumbent Scott Walker and Mary Burke. Here's an ad we get on TV:

That's a political attack ad against current Wisconsin governor Scott Walker. The governor is something like Menteri Besar in Malaysia.

In response, Scott Walker launched his own attacks against Mary Burke.

This is what freedom of speech is like. Can you imagine if Pakatan Rakyat commissioned their own advertisement listing out all the failings for Barisan Nasional?

Right now, all you can get on your TV is what Barisan has to say. It's almost as if Pakatan does not exist at all.

Syukur Malaysia aman.

My Journey To The West Pt 2

Rationale

So while I have a gaming rig here in Malaysia, that I brought back from the US, I have decided to leave my rig here when I move back to the US on the 28th of July. The reason being, I'm concerned that the rig won't survive another trip half way around the globe.

Furthermore, since the old rig came back, I have made a few upgrades that made it exclusively 240V compatible (unlike previously where it was 110V/240V).

So, it's time to build a new rig. Something powerful. Something quiet. Something discreet. Something that won't cry when I try to run MATLAB simulations on it.

I want something that's 4K ready, even though I won't be running 4K when it first fires up. Basically, the rig should run 4K with a few upgrades here and there, and that's it.

Additionally, since this rig will be in my bedroom (where my wife also sleeps), I will be using a water CPU cooler instead of the traditional fan.

Dual monitors are a MUST, and both must be mounted on an articulating arm.

Parts List

CPU:	AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core $179.99

CPU Cooler: Corsair H80i 77.0 CFM Liquid $84.99

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 ATX AM3+ $169.49

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 $89.99

Storage: Intel 730 Series 240GB 2.5" SSD $198.99
Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM $79.24

Video Card: Asus Radeon R9 290X 4GB DirectCU II $508.00

Case: Cooler Master Storm Trooper ATX Full Tower $120.49

Power Supply: Corsair 850W ATX12V / EPS12V $139.99

Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24F1ST DVD/CD Writer $19.95

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit) $102.98

Monitor: Asus VS247H-P 23.6" $144.99 X2

Keyboard: Logitech G105 $39.99

Mouse: Logitech G502 Wired Optical $79.99

Headphones: Logitech G430 $69.99

Speakers: Logitech X-140 4W 2ch $32.27

TOTAL: $2188.32

Closing

Obviously, I can't build this rig yet. But I will in a months time.

Meanwhile, I'm opening the build to /k/ for comments.

Let me know what you think, if there's anything I should replace, etc.

Motherboard color theme is black/gold (the colors of the school I'm going to).

Ini....

Was googling for memes related to Islam for another tered. Came across this...

QUOTE

I don’t think there’s a more apt metaphor for what the UK is doing to itself with Islam than the story of Mr. Laurens Vallender.

A former trained soldier swapped his Territorial Army beret for a veil and became Britain’s first transgender Muslim woman.

Laurens Vallender now calls himself Lucy and says he is finally ‘true to herself’ after a sex change three years ago. He is now married to a Muslim man he met on an online dating site, but he did not know he was once a man when they wed.

I just bet. Look at that face. Who could possibly suspect Laurens/Lucy is a man?

But finally the UK has its transgender gay Muslim soldier. If it were the US, the Democrats would already be encouraging him to run for President.

He now wears a full veil outside her Swindon home to show the world he is married.

This is the rare case where everyone can unite around a Burka.

Mr. Vallender told his GP he was ‘in the wrong body’ and three years ago had his sex change. He then went back to work as a Ministry of Defence kitchen porter.

In another major life change, he then converted to Islam because it promoted peace last September.

‘I had thought about it for a while but it is such a taboo I thought,’ he said. ‘But I did it because it is a nice religion – so peaceful.

If there were any doubts that this man is completely delusional, they have just been resolved.

His conversion to Islam followed last Autumn and then he married Murad at a small ceremony at his home in London.

“I’ve seen him twice since the wedding. When I do we have sex.”

So it’s a proper gay marriage then.

He has run into trouble with the local mosque in Swindon, Wiltshire, as they would not let him pray with the women.

“They asked me questions about my bra cup size, asked about my Adam’s apple, about my period and asked to see my birth certificate.”

Mr Vallender says he has been victimised by worhippers, who he says have asked himr personal questions and banned him because he is a transexual, and he wants to ‘get justice’ for transgender and Muslim people.

Try Syria. They’re serving up heaps of justice there.

SOS

Ini halalkah?

They tried to pretend they're my wife's friends, but my wife told the guard she doesn't know them.

According to my wife, those two nikkas stood at the guard house watching her until she went inside.

f***ing hell.
So, as you all know I'm leaving for the US next month (28th July!).

I already handed in my resignation, but boss say I must stay until 18th of July. Ok fine!

But the problem is I'm SOOOOOOOOO bored at work. Boss doesn't assign anything to me anymore, because I'm leaving. So I sit there browse Facebook and Kopitiam only.

Now I don't want to go to office anymore. If got problem, ok, I will come in and solve it. But otherwise I will stay home.

I've been absent from work without notice for many days now. Boss also cannot do anything, because I hold 90% of the passwords and knowledge of pretty much everything.

So how now? I feel a bit guilty for staying home, but if I go office, I also just makan gaji browse FB and /k/, wasting electricity.

Malaysia Version of 4chan.org

So I was thinking today, what if I started a new website, let's call it mychan.org or something, that's basically an imageboard similar to 4chan.org?

The rules will be the same. It'll have a SFW section, and a NSFW section. Obviously, Malaysia's version of /b/ will also be there.

On /b/, the rules are:

1. (almost) Anything goes. Nak vroom vroom 24/7/365? Nak jadi taliban? Nak pos gambar nekkid of yourself or your friend? Semua boleh.

2. No child pornography.

The site will have to be hosted on foreign soil obviously, probably USA. Use SSL encryption for everyone.

Ada minat?

Anak Muda Malaysia

So today I was walking around in a nearby shopping mall. Walked by a few shops, many of them selling technology. There was a guy who offered to sell me an Oppo Find 7a, some people selling Samsung phones, and even a few running a UniFi kiosk.

I wondered..., what is in store for these young men and women? In 5 years time, where do they expect to be in their respective careers? The guy selling the Find 7a probably wasn't paid very well, and depends on commission. The guy running the Samsung kiosk had been there for YEARS, and is where my boss buys counterfeit batteries for our staff handphones (mainly older models). The guy running the UniFi kiosk was the best. Sitting there, surfing internet, watching videos. Didn't even care to find new customers.

This isn't just something happening in that one mall. I see it all over Malaysia. Way too many of these kiosks are popping up, selling stuff that's hardly high value. It doesn't just apply to phones. I've seen a kiosk selling NOTHING but ukuleles. I mean, WTF?

What do these young men and women expect out of their lives? I'm not even sure "retail sales" qualifies as any sort of decent experience on your resume. So are they doomed to a life of minimum wage jobs?

My Journey To The West

So, my previous thread managed to generate a fair bit of interest and activity. But that was about me trying to sell stuff, instead of the actual trip.

In case you missed the previous thread: It's official: I am migrating to the United States of America.

This thread is for me to write about my experience moving to another country entirely, and for YOU to ask any questions you like. I'll try to answer as best I can.

Anyway, I bought my flight tickets today. 3 seats with Etihad Airways Economy Class, taking off on the 27th of July 2014. As you may imagine, I am looking forward to this flight more than anything else. Based on a few YouTube videos, it seems that Etihad Airways Economy Class is less economy than others. Seems really nice:

I used to fly Delta, American and United for my trips between the US and Malaysia. They f***ing suck, and this time, I told the agent specifically that I will not accept any American airlines. So Etihad it is.

I am going there to study first, and then find a job. This is where I will end up:

10 points to whoever figures out what school that is.

I think what I look forward to most of all is leaving Malaysian society behind. I don't know, but, since coming back here in 2011, I have found it extremely difficult to adjust my mindset to complement Malaysians. I find it mind bogglingly difficult to accept certain mores of our culture here. Perhaps it's because I was educated in the West.

The second thing I look forward to most is the car. I'll most likely end up with one of these:

Cheap too, for $29,000 new, or $24,000 used.

Who wants to adopt my dog?

Sup /k/

I'm putting my dog up for adoption. He's a good boy, and as such, I don't want to just dump him at the SPCA. I'm looking for a good family for him.

Dog info:
-Breed is Yorkie Poo. 75% Poodle 25% Yorkie. He's a designer breed.
-Age 3.5 years. Born 11/10/10.
-Gender is male.
-Neutered already.
-Trained to use potty pads (or wee-wee pads)
-Good with children. Currently best friends with my daughter.
-Will act as an alarm for your house, but will NOT be a guard dog.
-Weighs 6 lbs, and this is the biggest he'll grow.

Drillz:

I have some requirements of the family who will adopt him:

1) The dog is an INDOOR ONLY dog. If you leave him outside under the sun, he will die.

2) He must be pampered. Being a designer breed, he's not a mogrel who can do anything.

3) The family must be able to afford to take care of him. He's not ridiculously high maintenance, but he needs to be groomed, or his hair will matte up. Food wise, Alpo is enough for him. He can't appreciate more expensive food.

4) The family must able to take him out for regular walks. He loves going out.

5) The family, most of all, must be loving. He's a good dog, and my family is sad to see him go. But we have no choice. He deserves a good family who will care for him.

Anyone up for it?

Kedai Makanan UCO

Sup /k,

Recently went to my favourite kopitiam, Kedai Makanan UCO.

Where the f*** is Uncle Lai Mixed Rice? The mixed rice shop there now is utter shit compared to Uncle Lai. Some shit imposter. I miss my favourite Lou Yok from his stall.

Also, where the f*** is Chicken King? His stall seems to be there, but it's never open. Did he die?

I want to taste these two for the last few times before I leave Malaysia forever.
