What was that movie title?

If not mistaken, about 2 years ago I was at Lowyat plaza. A shop was playing a movie, which interested me therefore I was standing there to watch for about 5 min. Then, that guy in the shop switch off the movie.

I didn't catch what was that movie title and would appreciate if anyone could tell me.

The story - There were some giants hunters using blow pipe to shoot at people (at our size) in the forest. Those people were running and those giants where shooting and chasing after them.

It should be a movie in English since those people in the movie were Mat Salleh. Anyone watch that movie and know the title?

My MOBO for my HP Pavilion DV 2000 series laptop fried. I was using Windows Vista with Windows Mail.

I no longer have any machine with Vista, just Windows XP with Outlook express 6 and Outlook.

I took out the hard disk of my laptop and can access to the Windows mail's email folder from my Windows XP computer.

How can I restore my email into Outlook 2003 or Outlook Express 6 or Thunderbird or anything that could let me restore my emails?

Any suggestion is much appreciated.

Hi, I've a 4-port 1394 firewire PCI card in my PC. My PC USB is version 1.0. Not going to buy a USB 2.0 or 3.0 PCI card but using this existing 1394 to connect to the USB devices. Can we do so?

Any adapter selling out there for this conversion?

I know that 1394 = USB for mac.

Need help from experts!

When it was perfectly fine, I could play movie or music with the built in speaker, after plugged in the head phone, the sound from the movie or music will automatically switched from the built in speaker to the head phone.

But it is now only playing by built in speaker only, there is no sound at the head phone.

What I have done was to plug in this laptop to the LCD TV. Sound was playing well from the LCD TV. Later, I was using desktop extension by selecting "Extend the desktop onto this monitor". I was swapping the video between my laptop monitor and the LCD TV. When the video was in my laptop monitor, the sound was playing from the laptop speaker, when the video was swapped to the LCD TV, the sound was automatically swapped to the LCD TV's speaker.

After few times of swapping the video, the sound only plays from the laptop speaker. Now, at all situations (even without plugin to LCD TV) the sound cannot goes externally, just from the laptop speaker.

The SPDIF driver indicating that the devices is working.

PS: System restore is not an option.

I've tried:
1. plugin head phone to check whether this problem is associated with the LCD TV.
2. uninstall and reinstall the sound driver (windows Vista's driver).
3. Install the latest sound driver downloaded from the HP website.
4. shut down and remove the battery of the laptop, then restart again.
5. change the default playing device to SPDIF interfaces instead of the speaker.
6. Called HP support. They asked me to bring in for checking. (warranty lapsed, so, don't bother bring over)

What else can I do? Many Thanks in advance.

Notebook repair by HP Service Center

When we send in notebook for repair at HP service center, are our data & privacy guaranteed?

My notebook has only 1 user, that is myself with password. I sent in for faulty cooling fan repair. It was hardware problem. When I got back my notebook at the service center, I turned it on to test, due to the changes made to the MSCONFIG by the technician, MSCONFIG pop up when the notebook is rebooted. Then, I asked for help immediately at the service center on what happened with the system. The technician came and configured the MSCONFIG for me. Obviously the technician has access into Windows during the repair. If that's the case, how is my data & privacy guaranteed?

Nowadays where big financial institution failed us, just wondering if reputable companies like HP would fail us as well.

Does anyone know how is the data & privacy guaranteed by HP service center?

I am unlucky for having a bad quality HP Pavilion laptop bought at RM5000. Just not long after the warranty lapsed, the LCD screen has a horizontal line (dead line of pixels) at the middle (damn irritating) and the battery is completely dead.

Who has experience in sending the HP laptop to HP service center for LCD screen repair? May I know what is the cost they charge?

Thanks.

Overcoming Double NAT

Expert in networking required to help me out!

Background:
My internet connection is behind the ISP NAT router. There is a modem provided by the ISP. My PC must use "obtain an IP
address automatically" in order to get connected to the internet because the ISP NAT router will assign the IP address to my PC. If my PC uses fixed IP, no internet access or limited connectivity. This area has no other ISP but this ISP. Let's call this ISP as ISP 1.

My objective:
To connect remotely to the PC (remote desktop) connected via this internet connection (ISP 1).

Technical Hurdle:
Of course I need to use my own router to perform port forwarding to my remote PC (connected via ISP 1). If I use my own router to connect between the modem and my remote PC, it will be a double NAT. Port forwarding is not possible. So, my question is, are there any ways to connect to my remote PC in order for it to work?

My idea:
Perhaps by way of proxy server (what application software available) or anything. If using proxy server, I can set up another 24X7 server using other ISP 2 (streamyx) at other location to act as a proxy server, which is directly connected to the public IP. I don't mind to let PC connected via ISP 1 to communicate with PC connected via ISP 2, as long as I can achieve my objective.
Belkin Router as Wireless Bridging

Hello,

I've a Belkin wireless router modem (A) and a Belkin wireless router (B). I want to bridge the router modem to the router for extending the wireless network purpose.

I've tried to following but cannot bridge in wireless.

In B, I select "Use as Access Point" and the IP changed itself from 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.2.254.

In A, I checked "Enable Wireless Bridging" and add in the WLAN MAC address of B.

The IP of A remain as 192.168.2.1. I think this should be the setting. But didn't work.

What should I do to enable the Wirless Bridging? Thanks.
VPN or Remote Desktop

I am trying to create a VPN connection over the internet. Both PC A & B are Windows XP Pro. Can I make a VPN connection from A to B? Do I need a Server OS like Windows Server 2003 for the host PC?

What about a Remote Desktop connection over the internet? Can I make the connection with both PC using Windows XP Pro? And how do we create the connection? Thanks.

I've tried Remote Desktop by connecting to the host PC's external IP (current dynamic IP). The host PC is connected to a router configured with port forwarding to port 3389. But the connection failed. Firewall in the host PC is configured to allow all internal LAN IP traffic (router is internal LAN IP, I assumed). What steps did I missed?

X-DVR

I have a DVR (CCTV) card installed with my PC. I am using dynamic IP. Use it for remote CCTV monitoring. It is called X-DVR made in Korea. Usually it uses its product key (serial no.) served similar to the domain registered with no-ip.com or dyndns.com. There might be a Dynamic DNS server somewhere maintained by the company. Some months ago, it started cannot register the dynamic IP. I suspected the dynamic DNS server is no longer available. The product wooju, the website wooju.com cannot be found since day one I bought the card.

The software of this DVR has no domain column for configuration. I can't use domain supported by no-ip.com.

Anyway, can I use a domain registered with no-ip.com or dyndns.com to solve this issue? How?

Broadband Receiver

I have broadband connection at Site A. I'd like to have Broadband connection at Site B too, however, there is no broadband service available at Site B. I heard that there is a device called broadband receiver, which receives wireless broadband signal. The broadband receiver receives signal from my Broadband Account for Site A. Whether this broadband receiver receives the signal from ISP directly or from Site A, I am not sure.

In order to receive the signal clearly, there is another hardware - broadband booster. Anyone has any idea how this method works? Where to buy such hardware?

FYI, Site A and Site B is far away from each other. Its between city and rural.

I have been trying to connect 3 PCs together via a router. All PCs have unique PC names and have a same workgroup name. PCs are manually assigned IP, where the IP addresses range from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.10.

All PCs using same Subnet at 255.255.255.0. Same Gateway address at 192.168.1.1. The router's IP was set to 192.168.1.1.

PC01 is able to access PC02 and PC03. Whereas both PC02 and PC03 are not able to access to all other PCs. All PCs are able to access the internet.

All PCs are connected to a hub where the hub is connected to a router. Have tried to turn off Windows Firewall.

Have tried no router connection, just connect all PCs into a simple hub.

Any idea what when wrong?

Anyone been using X-DVR? X-DVR is the internet surveillance system?
I bought this DVR card, the brand is X-DVR. Been using it for a year. Recently, the server program (where this card is installed) failed to connect to the internet. It read "RegError" where the description is "Can't use Dynamic IP".

Without making any changes to the setting/configuration and yet Internet connection for surfing is still fine. Just can't get the server connected.

Do you have any idea?
