DHCP not giving address

Hi All,

I have an issue with my organizations wireless connection. Recently, I have changed all the switches and firewalls. Then the problem starts where some of my colleagues laptop when is connected to a wifi connection, they will be able to connect to it, but there's no IP address given to them. Im using a sonicwall nsa220 and edge-core switches. The DHCP is given out from the sonicwall itself. However, this only happens to certain laptop users at random times but it happens occasionally. The only way temporary solution is I restart the Access Point. Then it is ok. But somehow later on it comes back. I cant be restarting the AP all the time right when that happens ? Previously it is not happening like that.

Anyone have encountered this before ? I tried even removing the problematic laptops 'original wireless profile' just to make sure but the wifi problem persists even after re-connecting back. No address was given. Just the 169.254.-.- ....

Any ideas would be very much appreciated guys. Im going blank already.

Newsticker scroller highlighting

Hi sifus/masters,

I have this code from the web that I found that can actually manage to get a news ticker going from an xml file. I tried it out on my visual studio and I got the thing working, but the next question is, how do I highlight it ? Just like the TV3 newsticker below going from left to right. What I want is the blue background and a white font for example. Just sufficient to cover the font. Any ideas guys ? Below is the code I got.

Imports System.Text 'used for string manipulations
Imports System.Xml ' used for XML reading
Public Class NewsTicker
Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Form

Dim widthX As Single
Dim heightY As Single = 0
Dim g As Graphics
Dim xmlst As String 'string from the xml file
Dim fo As Font
Dim str As String
Dim strwidth As SizeF 'gets the xml string's width and height
Dim douX As Double 'stores the xmlstring's width

Private Sub loadthenews()
Dim readXML As New XmlTextReader("c:\users\admin\documents\visual studio 2010\Projects\NewsTicker\NewsTicker\news.xml")
While readXML.Read()
If readXML.NodeType = XmlNodeType.Text Then
str += " " & readXML.Value
End If
End While
End Sub

Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick
'Debug.Write(vbCr & strwidth.Width & vbCr)
'Debug.Write(String.Format("widthX = {0}", CStr(widthX) & vbCr))
g.Clear(Me.BackColor) <- IM GUESSING ITS SOMEWHERE ALONG THESE LINES,
g.DrawString(str, fo, Brushes.Black, widthX, heightY) BEEN TRYING, BUT TAK DAPAT.
Designing a system to display on 60' LCD

Hi sifus,

I am currently been assigned to handle a project where I have to design a system that is required to be 'projected' to a 60' inch size AQUOS lcd tv screen. I have started designing the system and am currently stuck with 1 question. How do I determine the best resolution to the system ? I have managed to make my system to be able to show 'full screen' on my laptop (im using Visual Studio 2010 to develop the system) with a resolution of 1280 x 800. But what if I shoot it up to the 60' lcd tv using HDMI? Will it go blur ? Will the screen be instead of showing some 'black areas' ? Will the graphics card support it ?

And once the system is complete, what sort of graphics card is suitable to project a system up to a 60' tv ? Any ideas and critics would be appreciated.

I have checked the 60' Aquos tv's resolution. It seems it has these resolutions = 1,920 x 4 x 1,080. Should I follow those resolutions ? but if it's under development on my Visual Studio 2010. It will be bigger than my screen. Im lost.

Thanks guys.

Regards,

efarhan.

It is just basic common sense that the HR Manager's job is to keep things such as this sensitive away from other staffs and colleagues. This is just not right. What do I do ?

Rgards,

efarhan.

Hi sifus,

My office recently acquired UNIFI biz10 and i noticed in some cubicles/locations within my office compound that the network is slow ? Is it due to length and range issues ? means nearer to the server room is faster and further means slower connection ? Is there such a thing ?

And how do I test it ? since im no expert in Network Computing stuffs.. Thanks guys..

Regards,

efarhan
