Aorus RGB RAM Review

Today we have the brand spanking new Aorus RGB Memory! It comes in a 16GB (2x8GB) kit along with 2 dummy modules. Let's take a closer look!

Who would have thought that a motherboard and graphics card manufacturer would be the one to come up with such a brilliant idea? This is the first 2x8GB kit to come with 2 dummy modules that syncs up with the rest of the kit. Aorus' RGB Fusion is pretty robust though probably not the best we've seen on the market. However, the LED brightness is just nice so you won't wanna poke your eyes out.

The Aorus RGB RAM is also using Samsung B dies but we couldn't get it stable over 3800Mhz no matter how much we bumped the voltage. For everyday use, we suggest starting with the XMP profile, bump the system memory multiplier to 36.00 and fine tune the timings manually without bumping up the voltage too much.

Thinking about switching over to AMD's AM4 Platform but your momma won't let you? Have no fear, the new APUs are here.

Priced even lower than the previous low end king, the Ryzen 3 1200, these APUs are made for users who do not wish to get a dedicated graphics card (for home theater PCs or eSports gaming). They were launched along with the other Bristol Ridge chips; 8 APUs and 3 CPUs in total.

As some of you may already know. Ryzen is not the most optimal for pure gaming PCs vs the Intel Kaby Lake platform. However, if you do anything more (streaming, graphics work, 3d work, surfing 200 prawn sites at the same time ), currently, I think that there is no reason to buy an i5 when you can get the Ryzen 5 for the extra cores and multi-threaded capabilities.

If you're looking to overclock your Ryzen processor, your only options right now are the X370 and B350 chipsets. We're going to look at the key features that are prebuilt into the AM4 chipsets as well as those that are added via your CPUs (AMD APUs in this case). Also, the ASRock X370 Taichi and ASRock AB350 Pro4 will be used to demonstrate third party goodies that can be included by motherboard manufacturers.

I also want to find out, how many of you who are building Ryzen PCs will care about SLI.

After a decade of Intel supremacy, is it finally time for AMD to Ryze?
