Cant Detect Wireless Network

Hey guys, Im helping my friend with an error on his computer. Its an old dell laptop. The problem is that he cannot detect his modem with this laptop since this afternoon. His father's and sister's computers both can connect and detect that modem. But his laptop simply cant even see the SSID. What he did this afternoon was 'repair' the modem ( right click on wireless icon and click repair) after his modem disconnected from the laptop a few times, then this happened. He's on Vista btw. What do you guys think is the problem?

Hi, need help with getting the best PC for my budget.

My budget is RM3500 - RM4000.

Does not include keyboard/mouse/speakers. But I need a HD 1920x1080 display. As stated in the topic, i'm gonna use it for gaming, seldom do video rendering. I prefer nvidia GPUs. Casing can be HAF 922, but you still can suggest if any better options for price Also, I would want a Corsair SSD to be in the rig

Hi guys. I've been having this itch on my scalp for nearly 1 and a half months. Small white flakes will 'fly' out then i scratch. And sometimes it even bleeds. I have already switched to a different shampoo that the barber suggested. Its less itchy now, but if i scratch it, the white flakes will still come out, and that's A LOT of them.

How do I get rid of dandruff?

Hi frenz

Yesterday i just bought a system fan to put on my side panel. Last night i installed it, so i tested it by turning on the comp, that time i was without a monitor, so after i tested the fan, after done i forced shutdown it (did it twice becuz i mounted the fan upside down, i wanted intake) after force shutdown for 2nd time, i left it. So just now, i tried turning on my comp, usually after 3-5 second pushing the ON button there will have a single beep sound (POST bios beep i think to tell you everything is working fine) But now i turn it on even after 5mins it doesnt have the sound, nothing came up on screen, as if like its dead. But the fans are spinning, and the comp is as noisy as before ( means everything still works?) But still nothing came up..

Could it be..

This afternoon, after installing photoshop, patching system files, and installing visual styles, my Windows Media Player and other Music players couldnt play any song.. It says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

Any help?

64bit But Still Cant Utilize 4GB RAM

Hey,

My computer was a Win7 32bit computer with 4GB RAM (3.50GB usable) once. That time everything was done by the technicians in the shop. Last night, i installed Win7 64bit, but in 'My Computer Properties' shows (3.50GB usable) Before doing the upgrade i checked with window supgrade advisor and it says that my computer has no problem with 64bit OS. Wonder why cant i still fully use 4GB of DDR2 RAM?

What i suspect the problem might be the 3.50GB RAM Patch that was used on 32bit by the technician, without that patch, max for 32bit is only 3GB. I think the patch is still somewhere in the BIOS or something, anyway to remove it? Or is this caused by another problem?

Hello, I have been planning a trip to hong kong at the end of the year, my friends went there and saw cheap (and i mean cheap) stuffs there, ex: Razer Goliathus alpha sized (RM75) for 50 there.. So i was thinking of a GPU upgrade for my desktop, i was wondering if i get one there, will the hardware be compatible with my comp in malaysia? Sorry if i posted in the wrong section

Hello, a few months ago I changed spec, power from L:150 R:175 -> L:175 R:250 . Today at when i looked at the computer screen from a distance with my LEFT eye, i noticed that the words are quite blurred, adding more focus to my eye the words got clearer, but still a bit blur, like got shadow under those word (i see slight doubles) This even happens at close range objects, its like the words are glowing, but the glow is blurring.. i dunno how to explain, only LEFT eye got problem, RIGHT eye is ok, close one eye and open one eye on a picture 2 meters away from me affects a lot..... I dont think power increase, cause its only glow-blur, compare to my 250 power right eye, can see details sharper, just have glow and blur around objects... Pls help and advise me Thx

This question has been stuck in my mind. I wonder why, when you turn on a flash/torchlight, you cant see the light trail, you can only see where it shines on, for example, u see the round light which it emits, but why couldn't u see the light from the torch head -> the wall.

Hey, i'm using Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, and i'm kinda sien/bored of KIS already, cause it takes long time to update, and always give you useless warnings (badstuffs when gaming) also, after having my fresh new windows 7, ever since i installed KIS the startup time increased. So can anyone give me recommendations for an antivirus that doesnt slows down your startup time or gaming. Thanks

Acer Touchpad Question

Hi, I have an acer aspire 4740, and i need help with my touchpad (mouse pad etc. etc.) I have noticed, that whenever i press my keyboard, press a letter, hit enter, or space, my touchpad will freeze (lock) and not allowing me to move the cursor for approximately 2 seconds. So meaning i cant move my cursor and press keys at the same time, and this really disabled me to play COD6.. Pressing the 'W' key, i have to wait for about 2 seconds, before i can move the cursor ( look around, shoot) I tried the Synaptics settings, but none of them have anything related to this problem. I wonder if any of you guys experienced this problem before and whether do they have a fix to it... I know that using a mouse is an alternative, but it cant be used when i want to play on small tables, my lap etc. etc.

Power disconnected during Partition

Hey guys, i tried partitioning my HDD just now, and while it was running, i decided to take off the cooler below my laptop. While taking off the cooler, i slightly lifted up my laptop a bit and the stupid charger got disconnected ... And now it couldnt boot up windows 7. It can go to BOIS, but not recovery menu or safe mode. It says in a black, blank screen:

'Operation Interrupted: Please insert recovery disk or other recovery media and reboot...'

I was using Pandora Partition Manager... I didnt make a backup recovery disk of the partition, but i did make a recovery disk of my OS ( Acer eRecovery Manager) but it didnt work, they dont read the drive at all ..... How do i recover my laptop? I dont have a x64 windows 7 disk with me...

Hey guys, my laptop has 3 partition of

C:\ -> 228GB (OS)
D:\ -> 127GB (Games)
E:\ -> 97GB (Work & Others)

I have noticed that i don't need that much space on C:\ drive, but i need extra space on E:\ drive cause of editing projects and large downloads, so i tried using Disk Management (Windows 7 tool) and i shrinked 28GB out of C:\ drive, the shrinked part is labeled as 'unallocated'. The problem is that this 28GB cannot be extended into E:\, but can only extend back to C:\ drive, i tried playing around with it, deleted the volume and all and its still the same, i cant get that 28GB from C:\ to either D:\ or E:\ .

Hey, i own an Acer Aspire 4740G with i3-330M processor and nVidia GeForce 310M GPU, i wonder whether is it possible to change my i3 processor to an i5-430M? Because some models of 4740G does have i5-430M as processor, for example Aspire 4740G-432G50. And also about the graphic card, is it even possible to change it for this specific model? Okay guys, its about time i get a new laptop, but its kinda hard to find one based on specs alone as there is so many laptops models out there, so can you guys help me find or suggest me a model based on the specs i want?

Specs:

I would prefer the ASUS brand or Compaq
Something that can support WINDOWS 7 (32-bit)

Processor: Intel something, a good one more than 2ghz
Graphics: Something Very Good....
RAM: I'm not sure about this, but as far as i know, can add up to 4GB one right?

Okay this is what happened... Before I turned on my plug, I changed the port of my LAN wire (the wire that is connected to my CPU) to port 1. After changing, i had download speeds more than 100 times faster than usual, so i went to www.speedtest.net to test my internet speed, the download speed was 16 MB per second and upload speed was 0.46 MB per second. But my usual speed was 100KB per second, thats the speed i get even by downloading from microsoft or any other website, my speed will be limited to the max 100kbps, that was my usual speed. Now it has increased so much, does it charge more? And i have another problem too, for example, downloading from Megaupload, i hit the Download button, but the download window didnt pop up, and the loading bar was stucked at the same place for a very long time... Wonder why is my speed that fast and why is the 'Download' window appears so slowly... i tried other sites, downloading a video, the 'Download' window takes 5 minutes to pop up, then right after i clicked 'Save' , i was noticed that my download was completed, and the file was 10 MB....
