Faulty Products (AV Equipment)

I have changed the title to Faulty Products (AV Equipment). More accurate title

The Banks can refer to CTOS, CCRIS, FIS and etc in evaluating loans, so we as AV and HiFi enthusiasts should also have to get something to refer too..

Warranty is not a solution.

In my experience, these are faulty equipments:

1) Mordaunt-Short 907W subwoofer
2) Mordaunt-Short Avant 309i subwoofer
3) Mordaunt-Short Carnical 7 subwoofer
4) Q Acoustics 2070S subwoofer
5) Boston Acoustics Soundware XS Subwoofer

All the equipments above were immediately no function without reason.
I either use surge protector or power conditioner at different places, also happen the same.

For records only. Thanks

Share Opinion about Dolby Atmos

Hi guys, I know this topic might not be suitable for some people. Might not be suitable for me either.
Because I have sold my pre-loved AVR to get new AVR with Dolby Atmos, plus new speakers and cable as well.

So far, I only experience Atmos with the Transformers Age of Extinction movie. This movie has a lot of sound effects.
I don't know if I was wrong, but I can't feel much difference between 5.1 and 5.1.2 setup.

During normal show, I only hear 5.1 sound although in some part it should came from above. Only when I rewind and re-play it again to check whether it came from above, then, I can hear it from the top speakers.

It makes me re-think again, maybe I should drop the 0.0.2 channel and return back to standard 5.1.0 setup.

What about you guys..

Back to Stereo

Flashback to 1990's, when there was only stereo but good enough before 5.1 audio being introduced.
Best soundtrack at that time was Terminator 2 and True Lies, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I wish I could turn back time, if today's dvd & bd player can deliver good stereo quality for movies converting from 5.1 channel source to 2ch output, as good as 15 years before. If so, no need to follow technology upgrade, and rest in peaceful mind.

Senario after graduation:

1st, buy DVD player & DVD discs with Digital AV Receiver
-enjoy the surround sound system, nice

2nd, buy BD player and HD AV Receiver,
-DVD player & Digital AV Receiver sold cheap.
-Need to buy LCD to comply.. CRT TV sold cheap

3rd, buy BD player with external hard disc playback
-Old BD player sold cheap
-Unable to find DVD Rip sortware to make AVI/MKV in proper 5.1 sound.

Maybe the best solution is to get a stereo integrated amp, and let go all HD whatever AVR and remaining speakers for money
