Help on vacuum gauge

Hi bros and sis of lowyat,

I am driving a silver saga blm 2008 and last week I went to buy a defi BF vacuum gauge for the purpose of saving fuel and also maybe diagnose if my engine has any problems

After i went to install the gauge at my nearby workshop, the gauge stays idle at -0.4xxx and wont budge even when u rev the engine... So my mechanic told me that the sensor is faulty.. With disappointment i went back to the seller and change for a new sensor and there are some improvements but the gauge respond isn't instantanous. (would take few minutes for the reading to change)

For example when turning on the engine, it stays at -0.6+

but after driving a while the gauge reading falls to -0.4+

While sometimes it will drop to -0.2+

I am very frustrated with this issue as i went thru a lot of hassle to get this gauge

Meanwhile i was wondering if the mechanic has installed the vacuum hose to a wrong source? Because turning on the air con and offing it doesnt affect the gauge reading which doesnt seem right to me

I would like to ask all the fellow lyners here if you guys could help me solve this out... I am confused right now.. Dunno is the 2nd sensor is faulty too or the mechanic is dumb.
