[How to] Play 'Ngau' 牛 Card Game Online

Hi all,

I'm sure some of you are craving for ways to play the card game 'Ngau' 牛 with your friends and family especially during CNY. However, with the travel restrictions in place, we can't meet up with anyone that lives too far from home.

I've been looking everywhere online for an app or website that we can play this game but there were none that meets my requirements which are:
- Free (With or without ads)
- Multiplayer
- Easy to participate (Preferably no apps required)
- Automated card dealing

And behold, I found a website that allows you to do all that with a customisable template!

You just have the follow a few simple instructions to set-up below:

QUOTE

1. Go to the website PlayingCards.io
2. Select 'Import a Game File' (Direct Link)
3. Download the .pcio template file which I have customised for the 'Ngau' game. (Google Drive Link)
4. Drag & drop the .pcio template file which you have downloaded above
5. Select 'Enter' to enter the room
6. The full template same as the above should appear with 10 sets of 5 cards each
7. Share your custom room link with your friends and play right away!

The playing instructions are very simply as well. Just:

1. Make sure the dealer and players are seated at their preferred spot.
2. 'Recall & Shuffle' all cards before you commence each round (tip: Make sure it shows '52' next to the deck of cards)
3. Press both the buttons 'Deal 3' and 'Deal 2' and 10 sets of 5 cards should be dealt to all players
- Bonus: I have included an automated script that allows you to deal '3 cards' (三张) and then only the balance 2 cards for 'Ngau' so that you can play 2 games within a round
4. The dealer and all players shall open their card in any order they like (or press the 'Flip' button to flip all cards) then rearrange the cards to form the base below and the balance 2 card at the top
5. The dealer shall compare hands with each player and adjust the counter scores as necessary.
6. Repeat #2-5 for a new round!

Additional Notes:

- The automated script will automatically deal to all hands no matter what
- Just open the cards where players are seated to compare hands. Other cards shall remain closed
- Dealers and players can sit wherever they prefer by selecting the 'Player Seats' and changing to their desired names. (Please make sure the website hasn't automatically assigned you a seat yet. If they have done that, just
select the 3-dots button next to your name and 'Stand-up from Seat'
- Players should preferably just open and rearrange their own cards. (DON'T touch other cards eventho everyone can do that)
- Dealers should be the only one responsible for comparing the hands and adjusting the counters as needed
- The default counter step setting is '5'. However, you can change that to any other number by entering the Edit Table mode and selecting the counter and changing the 'Counter Step'.

That's it! Everyone that's itching to play this game with their friends and family can finally do so!

Lost one of my Samsung Galaxy Buds Earphone

As per topic..

Lost one of my Samsung Galaxy Buds wireless earphone while taking the LRT few days back.
I'm looking to buy a replacement unit and have it synced with my existing earphone so I can continue using my Galaxy Buds.

If you guys are wondering how I lost it, here's how it happened;

So, back to the question. Does anyone have any experience with getting a replacement unit for the buds and got it to sync back with the existing buds?

Home Network DIY - Need help

Hi all,

I'm trying to plan the networking for my new home and I need some guide.

Attached is the layout plan for the network that I have drafted so far.

Some points to take note:

1) The Unifi modem and router has to be on a different location because the modem is located under the stairs (built-in) which is not a good location for the main router to be at at all.

2) Trying to make use of a 'smart switch' based on the guide provided by this Blacktubi website so that I can put the router on a different location.

The main issue is:
3) I'm not sure whether all the devices will have access to the network + internet if I connect all other devices back into the smart switch.

Appreciate any more experienced sifu to help me.

Unsubscribe from Spotify but no longer with Hotlin

Hi,

I'm trying to unsubscribe from Spotify Premium but I'm unable to do so as Spotify says that my account is linked to Maxis.
However the problem is I'm no longer with Hotlink since 6 months ago and my number has long expired in the Hotlink/Maxis database.

I've tried various methods on unsubscribing:
1. Access maxis.com.my/spotify and hotlink.com.my/spotify on my phone
- But then obviously this doesn't work as I'm no longer on Maxis' network for my number.
2. Call Hotlink's customer service centre and the representative says that she can't do anything as my number is no longer connected to Hotlink/Maxis
3. Email Spotify about this but they cannot do anything as they said that it's linked to Maxis/Hotlink.

What else can I do to cancel my Spotify Premium as a non-Hotlink user anymore?

External Hard Disk Issue

I'm having issues with my newly bought external hard disk (<6months old) and I'm looking for you sifus for help.

I have downloaded CrystalDiskInfo as per [@sHawTY]'s suggestion and ran a health check on it but I don't quite understand what the report means besides the 'Caution' health status.

A few more info that might be helpful:
1) PC can detect and show the first level of content after 10-15mins but to load the files inside it takes forever. I think it's possible but it's just working too slowly.
2) Since the port on the HDD is a USB 3.0 type-c connector, I can connect the USB 2.0 connector as well right? I did exactly that and the HDD failed halfway after 2-3 hours of usage. Any known issues wihen doing that?

What options do I have to save the HDD content? Besides sending it to professionals to salvage them

Identifying properties for Cukai Tanah

Fellow property sifus,

I've taken over my parents handling of all their cukai tanah and cukai pintu for their properties.
Cukai pintu okay so far because if don't have latest statement can go their office and request or call for latest payment required.

But for cukai tanah, it's very hard for me to document them according to the property's address for my reference because all they give is the daerah, no. hakmilik and no. lot. No clues on property's address whatsoever.

Any idea for me to check the property's address using the no. hakmilik and no. lot?
Best is if I don't have to go to their office especially for those that are outstation lahh

By the way is it very hard to let us know which property it is mehh

For reference the website will be somewhat similar if not an improved version of the following sites;

Looking to ensure that the website conforms with the latest modern website designs that will still do good aesthetically and functionally for the next 5 years+.
E-commerce may or may not be added in later on but the budget should not reflect e-commerce services at the moment.
The main priority is to develop a website for current/potential customers to understand out product and service offerings.

Web designers are welcome to quote a rough estimation.
LYN members are welcome to suggest the average budget required to design such a website.

Does any router brand work for unifi?

I'm not very sure as I understand Unifi uses VLAN tagging and such but just asking.

Is there any sort of thread or website that crowdsources information about any sort of deals/promotions in the Malaysian market?

There's this site http://ozbargain.com.au where users can post any kind of deals/promos and other users can upvote/downvote them depending on how good the deals are.
It's not limited to online deals but also physical sales at individual stores provided they share the location as well.

Very useful during my time in Australia and I was wondering if we have the same thing back in Malaysia.
Anyone know of such sites? Please share!

Recommendations for a PC & Some hardware Q's

Hi there,

My first time building my own rig and I intend to build a rig that's on the higher end but has the best value for it's price.

The following points will be relevant in the suggestion of the rig:
1. The budget includes the rig only (excludes monitor, mouse & keyboard etc)
2. Purpose is the ability to play graphic-intensive games like Bioshock Infinite, BF4, Crysis 3 at high to ultra settings.
2.1 However, I won't be gaming 24/7 so the main purpose is still occassional movie watching and web browsing - does it affect the choice of hardware?
3. If possible I would prefer my PC to be quiet but don't have to spend too much on cooling.
4. An SSD should be included.
5. Ability to OC in the future but not necessary - is it hard to learn to OC?
7. If possible can you please suggest which shop you got the prices off so I can know where to get them from.

With that in mind, I also have a few questions about building a rig.
I've seen many suggestions of hardwares etc in order to build a rig but I have never seen anyone say anything about what to do with the list after that.
Is there any shop that can help build the rig for free or for a fee because I'm not sure how that works. I have 0 knowledge in building rigs that's why I would prefer someone more experienced to help me.

Now, some questions about mice & keyboards and monitors.

1. I intend to get a wireless mouse and keyboard similar to THIS but would it be suitable for gaming and so on even if they say there's minimal latency using their latest wireless technology and all those.

2. What kind of monitor is recommended that is the most suitable for my needs? Is 1440 resolution good enough or should I go higher?
I intend to use a 2 monitor setup if that affects the type of monitor that I should get.

Extremely weak MYR vs EUR

Recently the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) dropped to a record low exchange rate in 1 year against the EU's Euro (EUR).
It has dropped to a point where it requires 4.2086MYR to exchange for 1EUR.

In other related news, MYR has been dropping excessively in general against other currencies within the month of January.

I'm no FOREX player or anything, just a regular person who happens to come across all these weird figures in the exchange rate market.
Would anyone care to explain why this is happening to our MYR? Is it because of the heavy speculation of the upcoming general election that will turn over the current government?

Where to replace IPT4G battery?

My 2 year-old iPod Touch's battery has been depleting like water. Whether it is in the jailbroken state or not, it drops from 100% to 50% in 15mins just by browing Safari, using Twitter/Facebook with Wi-Fi on. I suspect the problem is with my worn-out battery and not the software itself.

Does Lowyat have any shop that does servicing for Apple products? Authorised or not it doesn't matter. As long as they can help replace the battery in my iPod Touch 4G.

Places outside of Lowyat is okay too. As long as they are within the PJ/KL area.

OpenDNS working with local ISP?

Anyone who is using OpenDNS encounter some domains being blocked like it happened a few years ago when the Malaysian government banned certain websites?

It seems like the government contacted the people at OpenDNS and requested them to block the domains for Malaysian users.
I tried Googling this issue but there is nothing on the web as of yet.

Thank God there's still Google DNS. But what happens if Google is to follow OpenDNS too?

I can find 2nd-hand prices at Carlist.my but what I'm really looking for is the price for brand new cars.

If you have your own personal knowledge of the prices of the car roughly it will do as well.
