GUIDELINES TO MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL ETIQUETTE

FROM VARIOUS SOURCES IN RELATION TO SHARED TRAILS AND NON BIKE SPECIFIC TRAILS

PERSONAL SAFETY
-Wear a brain bucket(yes..that's a helmet) whenever you ride
-Do not travel into remote areas without informing others
-Ride within your capabilities.Ensure that if you want to push your limits,you buddies are around to support you.
-Know your bike and bring the necessary/essential spares.

RIGHT OF WAY IN RELATION TO OTHERS(NON RIDERS)
-Give way to non motorised trail users, i.e. hikers,horse riders,because people judge all cyclist by my actions
-Give way to motorised trail users, ie. motor cross bikes etc,because generally we will end up worse off in an accident.
-Alert others when approaching.Get a bell, or "Excuse me" works quite well

RIGHT OF WAY IN RELATION TO OTHER RIDERS
-Riders have the right of way.If you are pushing your bike,leave the riding line open for others to go past.
-Rider up hill has the right of way.
-Allow faster riders to past

SPEED
-Approach turns and bends in aniticipation that there's someone there
-Make your presence known when approaching someone or any turns

IMPACT ON THE TRAIL
-Leave the wildlife and fauna alone.Magic mushrooms are bad for you.
-Stay on designated trails and avoid destroying vegetation if possible.
-Dont't take short cuts over /around technical sections.If you can't ride it,walk it.
-Learn how to use your front brakes so that you minimise skidding your rear wheel.If you refuse to learn,then ride only in bike parks where people are afraid to maintain the trails.
-Do not litter.Take out whatever you take in.
Practise minimal impact riding,take only photos and memories with you

FUN
-You are to have loads of fun,talk lots of cogs,and make good friends on your ride.
-Develop sense of humor.Some people say it's good for the soul.

What you Suggest

Hey guys.

I am planning to get a totally new rig.
Budget... before keyboard and mouse... RM4k.
I am total noob to OC but I still want to OC using the most basic ways of doing it.
I am running a almost kaput AMD Athon 64 3200+ with Abit V8 mobo. 3GB Ram, used to run a PowerColor XT850 but donno what is wrong... if go to BIOS, I cannot run the windows anymore. Changed the GC now to donno what already. Ha! Ha! And running ok but seems like cannot coup with current computer software and games requirement. No OC done.
PSU ACBEL 500W (can't remember which one but not the modular type).

What I am going to do with this comp?
-A bit of internet surfing (a lot actually)
-Some online games and probably ready for CounterStrike ... the new one...
-Surely CS5 Photoshop
-torrenting
-watching movie.

What I have in mind now...

Hey there, I hope I have gone to the right section to post this.

I am looking for Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (DIGI) business centre email or customer service email or if possible, their marketing director or customer service manager's email.

We have some business mobile line with them but their service is too lousy for us to even use it.
We need to make an official complain to them but there seems to be no emails for us to write to.

Don't start with calling them at business centre or their 24 hrs customer service centre. It is a vomit blood situation!

So, anyone knows, please do pm me ok? Thanks much.

Will handphone Prices Drop Soon?

Hi guys.

All festive seasons are over, not much public holiday, many get retrenched and many get pay cuts. Business men business down, shopping complex are quieter. Global economic woes, no bonuses and companies making losses.

Nokia is in trouble financially and probably many more face the same thing.
Even telco companies get hit with lesser calls and competition stiffer.

Now, whatever all these things happening... seems like handphone prices still smooth. Still same and expensive.
By comparison, this small gadget should not be so expensive no matter what feature they put inside.

If a laptop can cost only RM1,999, why a mobile phone can cost up to RM3k?

In the market, seems like handpone is the most expensive comparisonly. TVs, PS3, computers, GPS and etc. Handphone seems to be the smallest yet most expensive.

So... my question is, do you think the price of our handphones in Malaysia will drop? If yes? How soon and why do you think so?

Hey guys.

I just had the worst time of my life over warranty claim with Wo Kee Hong in Sec13/6 PJ.

This is the story.

I bought a Denon Amplifier in July 08. I've been trying to play around with it but seems like nothing went smoothly. I noticed the problem exists when I tried to use the remote control. Imagine, when you press ON/OFF, the amp does not respond. All other buttons also not responding except the volume.

Now, how noob can you be with ON/OFF button? I guess a small kid will know how to turn ON/OFF.
Anyway, even if you are total noob or retard there is nothing wrong for them to assist you a bit or to give assurance that the machine is alright.

So, I sent my unit in yesterday after calling the front desk and the lady, Ms Kong said its best I bring everything in for the technician to check. So, same day, I brought the amp and remote in. Took me about 30 minutes + request for warranty claim. In fact, Ms Kong was helpful.

Then, when she asked the technician, Mr. Chew, he says he doesn't need to remote. I was quite surprised but well, what can I say... So, I took back the remote.

Today morning, I received a call from Ms Kong saying there is no problem with the amp and asked me to bring the remote.
Nevermind. All I want is a working amp.

So, just now, brought the remote back.
Guess what? The technician, so called Senior Technician... when Ms Kong asked about the amp, he shouted from the repair room "There is no problem with the machine. Asked him to look for the salesman."
Ms Kong tried to help me and tried to talk to him but he didn't bother. I could here him saying ASk him go back to read the manual. There is nothing wrong with the unit"

Then, Ms Kong hesitated, came out and told me, there is nothing wrong with the unit. And at this time, they have not asked for the remote control yet. Can you imagine.

She asked me to take back the amp and come back again tomorrow to meet with the salesman.

Ha! ha! Ha! It is really FUNNY.

At this point, I cannot tahan. So, I ased the technician to come out, he didn't bother. I started scolding him.

But at the end, they didn't bother. Ms Kong tried to ask me to sign the acceptance invoice somore. I took my amp and went off.

So, guys, although Denon is a good brand and amplifier. Because of distributor like them, I'd rather have a cheapo amp.

Wo Kee Hong is agent for Denon, Marantz, Q Acoustic, Modourn Short, Rogers, Alphine.

Seems like there are more and more model shooting session organised by LYN peeps here.
And amazingly, the response is always overwhelming.

Just wondering... what do you do with their photos? After hard day of work, you go back... look through your hard work... post 1 or 2 here in LYN...

Then?

For me, I've only been to once model shooting and the rest are all fashion show.

For model shooting, if it were to be printed photos, I'd say now at the shelve collecting dust.

There have been debates all over and some people condemned that PPed photos got no class.

Just because it does not suit your likings, doesn't mean others won't appreciate it.

What do you think?

For some older chap, it is impossible. Just like my granny cannot accept warm lighting but insists must use florecent white light.

For me, anything will do as long as it feels good.

Since Air Asia and MAS now fight fight fight to give "Free" air tickets, why not take the opportunity to organise an overseas trip...

What do you guys think? If we organise, you think got response or not? You will need to ditch your girlfriend and mother in law to go to exotic places like Ventienne or Ho Chi Minh... get some nice photo... and come back with some curry chicken.

Hi there.

Our D300 Discussion group is proud to organise an outing for everyone. Not exclusive for D300 users only.

So, anyone can join.

Our title: Street Fashion
What is it?: It is actually a street shooting outing but our main target is people. People with weird dressing, pretty girl, lala girls, street beggars... etc.
Where?: At the moment, we are talking about Petaling Street and slowly walk. Will visit the IndianTemple, Chinese Temple and Masjid Jamek as well.

What is so great?: Well, first of all, you get to practice your 70-200 lenses or your 18-200 lenses. This will test your shooting skill and creative mind. I'd say no one will have identical shooting style and we can compare with each other after that.

At the same time we will be able to get to know each other... lepak... teh tarik.

Nothing big... nothing grand. No bikini girl sanding in front of you letting you shoot until she goes blind.

Anyway, who is interested... justput your name here and pm me your handphone number so that we can comminucate.

Oh, by the way, there will be only 1 timing. So, the most ppl choose that time will be IT.

NIKKOR Lens

Hi guys.
Guess many of us have the money to get dSLRs but kinda heavy when it comes to buying lenses. Choosing the right lens can be totally changed your whole photography experience.

So, I'll start first by asking all ther sifus around here.

I already have a 18-200VR lens now.
The only problem with this lens is, at 200mm, it is not so clear... and the aperture is on the high side... f/3.5-5.6

So, I am looking for another lens that I can take "people" indoor without much using flash. (I hate flash unless got diffuser)

First question...
Should I get a 50mm, f/1.8D (or 50mm f/1.4D) or a Macro lens 105mm VR (f/2.8)

I love to take macro... but the thing with macro is, you don't do that everytime.

I'd say 50-60% of my photo taking is on "people". 20-30% on scenery and 10-20% on insects/macros.

Of course, the 18-200VR also can take potraits, 105mm also can... but the bokeh effect not so syiok la...
Any suggestion?

Fake Hoya Filters

Hey there.
Recently, I bought 1 Hoya UV filter. Donno why, out of sudden, this morning, I took it out, look at the box and the filter... now I feel like I am being cheated.

Is there any way of telling whether the filter is genuine or not? It feels like one... looks like one... But the printing on the filter only written Hoya Super Pro1 UV(0) where as I checked the internet, I see the Super HMC Pro1.

Any of you have a picture of what you have? I'll upload mine later.

ISO - What is it all about?

Hello. After seeing the aperture "War", I guess I'll start another one here hoping you guys can help a bit.

A friend of mine asked this question and suddenly found out that I myself don't know either.

Here it goes:

Facts: In film era, ISO refers to the sensitivy of the film. The higher it goes, the faster/easier for us to take photo and brighter. Just like he ISO setting in our digital camera. But that is the film. Chemically different type of film.

Question: In digital world, the ISO is so called fixed by the sensor. We don't change sensors on the camera in order to get different ISO. So, how does digital ISO works? Isn't it the same sensor? Why higher ISO in digital sensor still gives out higher noise?

Please enlighten me. Layman term pls.
