Qualifications and career in financial line

I've noticed many people tend to think the value of qualification = the things you learn or how it can apply to your job. They then start to say qualifications are useless because they think they have no relevance to your job.

From a hiring manager/employer point of view, qualification should be an important tool to judge a person characteristic especially in the financial line rather than how it will help in your job. To me at least, any qualification be it degree, masters or even professional papers, as long as they are not hobbies qualifications (Tourism, music, film, sports, literature, arts related qualifications) they are all indication on a person's character and attitude rather than how good he is at his job. These qualifications are EARNED, not given. If a person willing to go the extra mile to obtain these qualifications, it shows that the person is hardworking, willing to take initiative and have high spirit and tenacity to get something done.

Compared to those who lacks qualification, they say they are hardworking or how good they are, it is hard for me to believe them when they can't even complete these qualifications. I might even think they are a quitter, who knows? Study and doing assignment too suffering then decided to quit or perhaps they are just plain lazy, which is not an attitude employers would want in their workforce or perhaps they are just not capable especially when it comes to obtaining professional qualifications. In financial line, it is pretty much paper work and understanding the guidelines anyway, which is pretty much similar to what you are doing with your business degrees etc. It's not like there are "creative accounting" or "Creative Underwriting" or "Creative finance reporting", if you can't even get yourself qualified, I'm pretty sure either you have always "tai-chi" in your job or you are good at rubbing shoulders.

This guy is right on utilities... Let's PETITION!

https://www.thestar.com.my/opinion/letters/...-utility-bills/

Why are service apartments being charged commercial rates? Makes no sense. Yes it is on commercial land but the entire building is meant for residential living so why burden the people?

If they charge commercial rate for SOHO, SOVO or SOFO I would agree 100% cause the building main purpose isn't for residential living. So for those who are making SOHO as a place to live in must think twice that they are buying a unit that is meant for commercial not residential. Service apartment units CANNOT be used to operate business unlike SOHO!!

If utilities for SOHO and Serviced apartments are the same then there is NO DIFFERENCE between SOHO and Serviced Apartment except SOHO units can have the choice of operating a business in their home!

If ethnicity is properly defined

Northern chinese and Southern chinese (Including hong kong, taiwan and macau) should be 2 different ethnicity. Both of them have distinct looks and culture, how is it possible that they are considered the same ethnicity?

Same goes for northern indian and southern indian, skin colour also different.

Scottish and English looks different as well but at least they got their own identity like scots and irish.

But for the southern and northen chinese people, they are considered chinese, basically 1 ethnicity but both are different in terms of looks and also skin colour.

[TIPS] Fragrance for men

I can't stress this enough, NEVER ever buy fragrance based off famous youtubers like Jeremy Fragrance.

Why do people buy based on these youtuber top 10 list?

These people are from western country whereby their climate is cold, even during summer it is below 28c degrees for European countries and they are not humid like Malaysia.

I've seen many people buying YSL la'nuit del homme, dior sauvage, Blu De Channel etc. which are highly recommended by these youtubers but they din't realise these are winter fragrances. Imagine a fragrance design to withstand the cold climate being used in a hot humid country. Diu nia seng when that person start to sweat it smells worse than people with body odor because the sweat combines with the fragrance projection strength and sillage can freaking murder people being close to them.

Even some of their summer list fragrance doesn't seem to work in Malaysia because of the humidity.

I believe the best way to wear a fragrance in Malaysia especially during the day is to buy fragrance that are

1) Not sweet in anyway
2) Fresh fragrance (Citrus/floral/aquatic)
3) Little to no warm spicy notes, balsamic, heavy woody notes and other sweet or pungent notes.

If you doesn't sweat much and doesn't have body odor and work mostly indoors under air conditioning then maybe you can try their summer list but never ever buy sweet fragrances.

Another better way on buying fragrance is to actually go to the store, spray it on your hand and then judge it at after 12 hours.

Some people tend to buy based on the smell from the first spray (base notes). Base notes dies very quickly, what you are looking for is middle and end notes which will be the scent you will be smelling most of the time hence try to spray it on your hand, walk around or go home then only decide to buy the next day.

How is it possible for such dumb people to exist?

https://9gag.com/gag/aQRe912

QUOTE

let me get this straight. We are not against icerd per se, we're against u manipulating icerd to benefit urself out of the expenses of others.

In the event of racial discrimination, icerd ratification is a good move. But in malaysia's context, it will bring us back to the question, what do u feel so discriminated about? Growing up in malaysia i nvr heard of malay employer enforcing "can read and write jawi" but alot of chinese employers putting out the term "converse well in mandarin"
Remind me again on whos being discriminated.

U guys want an entry into UITM so badly, one of the cases u feel malays are being unjust, but are u willing to dissolve the chinese schools as ur readiness to assimilate with us? The answer is always no. So whats with this icerd ?

The above is a quote from a fella named mahuhidup from 9gag.

1. Does this idiot even know what ICERD means? Manipulate ICERD to benefit yourself out of the expenses of others? It is an international convention on eliminating discrimination, being able to manipulate ICERD to benefit any party means you have breached the condition set out so what is this fella even talking about?

2. What do we feel so discriminate about? Is this guy serious? Does this guy think the "bumiputra" or the special privilege policy set out just for a specific race is considered normal?

3. Can read and write Chinese is needed because the company's client or business dealing involves people that read and write Chinese like China or Taiwan. Like it or not, China is currently an economical powerhouse and because of that, you NEED to adapt in order to compete just like how we adopted the English Language. If Jawi speaking country dictates the economy, I can guarantee you that the Malaysian Chinese will be the first to master the language.

4. Dissolve Chinese school? First of all, there is no Chinese school in Malaysia that forbids other races to join, it is not discrimination but just a school conducted in mandarin medium and the school welcomes any race who wants to learn mandarin, it is a CHOICE whether or not you want to join the Chinese school not a RESTRICTION. UiTM on the other hand forbids any other race to enter and that is not a CHOICE, it is a RESTRICTION and bear in mind who are paying taxes to fund these Universities.

ICERD is to eliminate discrimination not to benefit the minorities. It serves to ensure equality among all races and that no one will get special treatment or being discriminated AT LEAST at constitutional and governance level.

This guy is an idiot and his point of view/argument against ICERD is one big JOKE.

Have you ever experience this before?

We have to contribute a small percentage of our salary to the so called community fund (or sports club for many other companies would known as) and it is compulsory non-negotiable auto deduction from your gross salary. The contribution is meant for company activities, field trip and competition etc. (the usual "sports club" thing)

However, there is 1 particular department in our company has been using that funds to buy stuff for their personal department use (coffee machine, upgrade computers, supplies and even their own personal department trips). The main reason is because their head of department is one of the company founders (a special department set up by this co-founder himself).

They always have special treatment like first in line in everything and also they were given quotas for everything first from office supplies to company movie tickets first before other department gets a share.

When we confront them about this, they give us this face as if we are not supposed to question them.

Often giving excuses like their department is still new and other department had already developed but in actual fact we have less budget allocated to us for the past 10 years since the department was formed.

Because the co-founder is the founder of that department, we mostly just tolerate them in fear of getting any unwanted trouble.

LinkedIn Stories [Late for interview got hired]

I remember reading a post where the employer hired a guy who was 30min late for the interview. The story was it was on a rainy day and the guy was all drenched in water and told the interviewer that he lost his way but he never gave up and took the taxi just to come for the interview. The interviewer hired him based on that guys statement without conducting formal interview saying that he got determination and willing to face any obstacle just to come for the interview.

Sometimes I wonder if these stories are bullshit or is it actually so easy to get hired.

I still remember about an interview that I attended during a rainy day. In fact it was raining so heavily and there was windstorm when I was trying to get to the employer's place. My umbrella was damaged and I can't find the place because it was difficult to navigate during a windstorm with my umbrella broke and my phone screen all wet. The GPS wasn't working properly at that time as well (maybe cause the phone got wet or signal was poor) but I somehow eventually manage to reach their office. Despite the difficulties, I was still 10mins early but I was all wet from head to toe. When I reached there, they call me to do some stupid test (like those fresh grad test) but I was already an experienced hire. After the test, they made me wait 1 hour before the interviewer comes. I end up not getting the JOB despite all that and the worst part is, they called me back for a 2nd interview with another department and they did not offer me the job as well. I took 2 half day leave, got all wet and waited for at least an hour for each of the interview, did their stupid test and they end up not offering me any job.

When I read that LinkedIn stories, I asked myself, is this real or maybe I am just unfortunate.

But for anyone who is curious, I am glad that the company did not hire me cause that job was a processing level job (for both the interviews) and shortly a few months after I got a job that pays much higher.

Both Unifi and Maxis uses the same cable. In fact, I heard Maxis would use back the same modem as Unifi and they are basically borrowing TM fiber optics to run so basically performance wise it should be the same. So what is the difference? Just branding?

If line something wrong or modem something wrong, they will send the same TM technician to come fix for you... really wtf

Some chinese family

are very strict with lineage names.

For example Tham Lun Wai - All the siblings will also have the name "Tham Lun" infront

Normally they already have all the middle names set for many generations to come.

They don't even allow nicknames or any English name to be registered officially.

So I was just wondering, if a Chinese guy married a caucasian and the boy marry caucasian also... after 4 generations the kid would have no asian looks left but because they have been strict on the lineage name tradition, the kid would have a pure chinese name.

I imagine a blue eyed blond hair caucasian named Tham Zhan Bong. It will be weird and cool in school, at the airport or just introducing yourself. I just wonder are they allow to use the C word though.

Just to mention, those caucasian that has chinese nickname doesn't count. Like kevin rudd having a chinese nickname to use during chinese meetings etc.... it must be official in their passport, must read "Tham Zhan Bong" without any nicknames infront.

BS excuse from TM Unifi

Streamyx users who are paying RM140+ for less than 10mbps, I don't think there is much they can do since I believe those who still run on streamyx most likely does not have fiber optics in their area, which also means they do not have other telco options as well and they can only depend on TM on their streamyx.

The biggest BS from TM is those current UniFi users who are paying RM149 for 10mbps and still not getting their speed upgraded. Those current Unifi users should have fiber optics and necessary equipments installed in their area so what's TM excuse for not boosting the speed? They basically told us to terminate and resubscribe if we want the 100mbps meaning that they can actually boost our speed anytime but they just decide NOT TO.
Why is it so hard to understand?

It is not just Malaysian purchasing power is weak, it is because Malaysians are underpaid on international standard.

Every developed country paying rate is roughly the same when you convert back to USD. SG paying their fresh grad about 3.3k SGD average, UK paying about 2.3k pound while Australia average rate is about 3.5k AUD.

If you convert all of them back to USD, it is roughly about 2.5k-3k USD

Whereas in Malaysia, our average is still at RM3.2k. In international rate, that is just 760 USD. Do you think Japan pays 3.2k JPY to their fresh grad? They pay about 300k JPY which roughly about 2.7k USD.

The problem with this is that while Malaysians are being paid the same in terms of amount, the cost of living is not 4.1x lower. Supposedly if you are getting the same amount in salary, to buy a pint of milk should cost you RM2 (US people earn 3.5kUSD paying 2USD for 1 pint of milk) but no, the milk in Malaysia or any other thing in the market is international rate. Which means if you earn RM3.2k, a pint of milk costs you RM8 which is fucked up when you earn the same amount but buying things at the rate after conversion from USD.
