BRV Driver's Seat for Driver over 6ft

Hello all. This is a long shot, last ditch, Hail marry attempt.

My google-fu has not returned anything substantial thus far. Looking to see if a driver over 6ft (height mostly in the legs), can comfortably drive this car from KL to Penang. Not looking to purchase the car, simply renting it. Car being booked by someone else (assume no other option) and I just need to know if I can fit the BRV as a driver.

Hoping someone who've driven sthe car can help to confirm this.

Thanks in advance!

Kinda troublesome to upload photos

Reason for sale:

Hoping to give the keyboard a new home.
WTS Mac Mini M1

Item(s): Mac Mini M1 complete with box.

Package includes: Everything as bought when retail. Power cable, box, manuals, stickers

Price: SOLD

Warranty:Expires 28/08/22

Dealing method:COD

Contact method/details:PM
---

Item(s) conditions:Lightly used.

Picture: Upon request. Kinda troublesome to upload something that everyone knows how it looks like, I'd say is 98% since it's been lightly used.

Reason for sale: My new work flow includes inkscape, and the new M1 doesn't play nice with it. Getting me a bit frustrated so I have decided to sell the Mini in favour of my windows rig. Have a MBP if I still need the MacOS environment so no real loss on my end. Might as well give the Mini a new home rather than sitting on my desk, not doing much.

Price is slightly negotiable.

Also for sale:

Keychron K1V4 (TKL, Brown switches) & Apple Magic Keyboard 2
Wavlink USB to HDMI adapter (You'll need this if you want to run three monitors on the Mini)

27” 2k/1440p Monitor Recommendation

Hello!

I’ve been looking around and the ideal model is actually the Lenovo P27H-10.

But...I can’t seem to find it on either Lazada or shopee. Is this model phased out already? Only one I could find seems to be overpriced at 1.6k for an old monitor. It’s there on the official site but was hoping to get it on either one of these platforms due to...coupons

On a similar note, what’s the next best option? Why I thought I’d settle for this monitor is due to:

-QHD resolution
-Type C connection (will connect a 2017 MBP and charge it) so lesser wires all around
-Able to swivel it around
-VESA compatible

So...Questions:

1. What’s the next best option?
2. What’s the best cheapest option if I go for 2k WITHOUT the usb c connection (already have a dongle to handle 2usb and 1 HDMI with power)

Budget about 1.2k. Would be really sweet if I can get it under 1k though.

Thank you Sifus!

Legality of Motorcycle on A Highway...

Hello. Been wondering on this for quite sometime now. Did a google search but the results are inconclusive.

From what I gathered, if there is an existing motorcycle lane, motorcyclists aren't allowed to go on the main road. This should apply to the Federal Highway, Kesas and other highways that already have an existing lane for them. However, I often see many bikes on these highways, not giving a damn, and in general, causing a nuisance (dangerous lane-splitting, weaving in and out of traffic).

To sum it up:

1) In the event that an accident were to occur, who would be at fault?

2) Anyone know the road transport act well enough to say that these motorcyclists are riding on the highway illegally?

Hello. I did a search on the forum and found that a 50" set can fit inside the Myvi with the back seat folded down...

Now the question is, can a 55" fit inside the myvi? How about a sedan - specifically, the Peugeot 408.

Or would I need to rely on delivery?

Thanks guys!

Sharp AL1X vs Sony X7000G/F

SHOULD BE FINAL EDIT:

Basically the Sony has better image quality (if you're looking for something less eye-popping) than the Sharp. Based on a few member's observation, and my own S/O. So I'm going to be purchasing the X7000G (or maybe X8000G).

The Sharp's profile seems to be that of over saturation - at this point in my research, I think it to be the feature - Gotta admit, if you're watching it on it's own, it looks alright, or even good. However, once you compare it to the Sony, you realise that the colours are over saturated.

The Sharp as reported (by someone else, not myself) sounds better. However it's a problem that is easily solved by external speakers/soundbar/sound system.

To sum it up, get the Sony.

(Or if you want a VA panel and don't mind a Samsung, get the RU7400)

Special thanks to...

[@Convael]
[@Jerrylum88]
[@ruzaini88]
[@Someonesim]
[@AVFAN]

...for all your informative posts. Really helped me to understand and decide.

I'm leaving this thread open just in case someone has the same dilemma as myself

---start old post----

Hello sifus.

After doing some relatively extensive research, as well as bringing my wife along to take a look at TVs today, she has finally decided between the Sharp <s>AH1X</s> AL1X, and the Sony X7000G.

So, now I need some help. Gonna break it down so it's easier:

1) Her feedback for the Sharp TV: It's too bright/vivid. Can this be tuned to say, match that of the Sony? Or is this a feature?
2) I did a side-by-side comparison between the 7000F and 7000G. Seems like the only difference (based on Sony's site) is that the F lacks Triluminos colour enhancement, and the G lacks miracast. We're both on iPhones. I don't think the Miracast matters? I do feel that the Triluminos thingy would help a big deal. She likes the Sony colour reproduction better.
3) Sharp vs Sony, which would sound better?
4) Thinking to go for the 55" Sony for circa 2.3k. Is the premium of 400 worth it? Could get the 49" for 1.9k (possibly cheaper even)
5) The Sharp can be had for about 1700-ish. Is the Sony that much better?
6) Sharp is android. Sony is just smart. Already got an android box, so not that fussed. Also, it's mostly (or I could say, exclusively) to watch Netflix.
7) Between the two, which is better when connecting to a Mac/PC? Would my PC even be able to handle pushing 4K? Anyone done it before?

My budget was initially under 1.8k. It has since been bumped up. Note to self, don't bring wifey along if you have a strict budget

If it is of any importance, I'm hoping to snag a deal during 11.11.

Thanks!

EDIT:

Did a more localised search on the threads here. Seems like the 7000G > 7000F. I'm guessing the extra moolah is worth it. Why does it seem like there's not so much difference on paper though? <s>Is the Triluminos tech really that great?</s> I guess it's all about the WCG. Thanks to the sifus in the various threads that highlighted this!

<s>
I’m up to my eyeball figuring out which TV to get for the wife.

Did some research about 4K TVs and it seems almost all of them are smart TVs.

Did research on smart TVs and it’s such a mixed bag. The good and recommended ones here are generally over my budget. Googling in general reveals some good choices...if you’re in the uk or states.

So here I am asking for help.

Budget is around 1.8k for a 50”. A few fits that but reading into reviews have turned me away. Cocoa 50Q5. TCL p6us. Philips PUT6002s.

The reason I’m looking for a dumb tv is I thought of getting a mibox to pair with the telly. Eliminates any problems with regards to the Android portion of the tv. Would also (hopefully) drive the cost down.

Any inputs from the resident experts here?

On a related note, are Samsungs better now. The last tv I bought was a sammy....and it died the moment warranty was over. Not too impressed.

I’m leaning more towards a Sony and Philips (have owned both previously) and really like Sony.

The price for the 50q5 really is swaying me though.

Help?

EDIT: Forgot to mention that it doesn’t have to be 4K since at the range I’ll be watching, 1080p would suffice (approximately 7ft). It’ll be in the bedroom so IPS isn’t a big deal either.
</s>

Hello. Hoping to use the wisdom of the collective.

As per title, anyone knows where can I get a connector for the small water filter pipe? It’s 1/4”.

Like this one:

https://s.lazada.com.my/s.Z4Esi

Hoping to get it from a physical shop around KL. Also, is this item common enough to be in any hardware store? Or MR DIY?

Thanks

Unifi vs Maxis Fibre (Ping to Singapore)

Asking for sister.

She's currently on Unifi.

Situation: She needs to do skype calls on her work laptop (using a vpn that connects to singapore).
Problem: With her VPN, it makes it really, REALLY shitty. She's getting a ping of over 100ms and her DL/UL is also reduced by 50-75% (Wifi). Calls stutter and drops from time to time

I've been reading around and it seems Maxis is better at handling international connections. Can anyone that have used both confirm this?

Questions:

1) Would it be better for her to switch to Maxis?
2) Is there another alternative besides switching to Maxis?

Other info:

Other colleagues don't have the same problem as her.

MC6 vs FK510 vs GY Excellence

After typing all of this I realised this post became a wall of text. Apologies for that

Hello!

Some of you might have seen me asking this in the 408 thread. Thank you for the replies there for those that have chipped in. I decided to post here instead since it's specifically tire talk (and it'll reach a wider user base). After doing my own research and recommendations from the good folks from the 408 thread, I've narrowed down the choices to these three tyres.

This is for the wife's car. I'm merely doing her homework.

Currently running on the same size, MC5.

Of the three, the Excellence seems to be the cheapest option. This and the MC6 can be sourced via Lazada/Shopee; MC6 @ RM 363 (Could've sworn it was only RM330 yesterday), GY Exc. @ RM 293. The Falken I can't seem to find online...only one I see is a shop in Setapak advertising on Mudah for RM 350. On to the breakdown:

MC 6
Wife is inclined towards these. Mostly due to the current tyre being a conti as well.

Pros:
- Wife likes it (Brand familiarity)
- Good review from one or two sites. Only comparison is against the MC5. Can't for the life of me find a comparison with the other brands on my list.

Cons:
- Actual user reported issues with balancing after 5k km. (although admittedly, sample size of one )
- Can't find much info about people using this tyre locally. At least not online.

Treadwear/Traction/Temp rating: 340/AA/A

FK510

Pros:
- Good feedback around here. Seems to be the other tyre recommended if it's not the Hankook V12 Evo 2.
- High rating at this website

Cons:
- No online presence from seller. Need to source an actual shop for this.
- Wife doesn't seem too keen

Treadwear/Traction/Temp rating: 300/AA/A

Excellence

Pros:
- Good feedback from a trusted member.
- Brand familiarity

Cons:
- Mixed reviews online
- Only one confirmed user (so far) reporting in (different tyre size though)

Treadwear/Traction/Temp rating: 240/A/A
-----

Although my wife says she's ok with the current drive comfort etc, I'm looking to retain the handling of the MC5 but with better comfort. All three seems to be good contenders but I'm looking for more actual users to chip in.

Thanks in advance chaps!

PS: I read that one should not compare the ratings from different manufacturer so I don't know what to do with that info

PPS: Additional notes. Mostly city driving, with a possibility of outstation driving during the weekends. Not really a speed demon. I generally cruise around 110 - 130. If I hit a particularly long stretch of straights, then I have the tendency to go 160. Fastest I'll probably ever do is 180 but I'm not too keen on doing that.

Seeing if there's interest for a quick bulk. Gotta act fast - not sure till when the 30% off is for

I AM NOT A RESELLER. NOT DOING THIS FOR PROFIT. WILL NOT ENTERTAIN "PM ME BEST PRICE" OR ANY ITERATIONS OF IT.

If you wanna get onboard, shoot me a pm.

Additional Charges

- I will charge the currency exchange rate based on what Mastercard charges (and then some for buffer). I will round it up for the sake of convenience.
- If you want me to post it, I will charge poslaju cost + parking cost + effort to go to the post office itself. This should be circa RM6. I really would rather not do postage if possible
- COD at Petronas Ampang (Nearby ISKL with a McD) will incur no additional charges. This can only happen after working hours or the weekend.

Additional Disclaimer

- I will require full payment before putting your item in the cart
- No MOQ for this bulk since I'm buying it with, or without you
- Exchange rate will probably be slightly higher than the Mastercard charges to compensate for cross border charges and my "duit kopi". Not a profit in the traditional sense - just makes life easier for me to round things up and a "pat on the back" for doing the "heavy lifting".
- Shipping cost (to Malaysia) will be distributed equally amongst all of us (Unless we reach $30, then it's free)

CUT OFF TIME
10 pm tonight (9/11/16) to transfer the funds. I'll place order by elevenish. Canada is 12 hours behind Malaysia, so that should allow enough buffer to keep within a one day frame. I'm assuming the sale will only last that long

Additional Details
Quick check on the rates shows 4.21. I'll be charging at 4.3. I think that's fair since I'll be making about 0.09 per dollar. Ensures I don't actually lose money and it's not much of a profit.

It's free shipping for above $30. If the total amount ordered is less than that, shipping will be shared equally. If it's met, shipping will be free.

Cut-off is at a value of RM 500. Don't wanna go through the hassle of taxes.

Thanks

Latest Update
Ordering.
k401 vs u41-70

I've already asked in the "Recommend me a..." sticky but thought I'd post here to get a more accurate answer.

I've been recommended the U41-70 and did a little digging around and came across the Asus. Specs seems just as nice but I can't find a proper review for it - mostly youtube unboxing etc etc. Or if there is a review, it's by some random dude.

Based on the reviews I've read on the U41, it all seems to agree that the screen is lackluster. I can't find anything on the Asus though. Atm favouring the Lenovo since I think the ram upgrade would be cheaper. Need 8 GB at minimum. Read that the latest gen would be expensive. However, the bit about the screen being shite kinda scares me. I need to test an actual unit.

I got this from this thread

Lenovo U41-70	i5-5200U, GT920m, 14" FHD	4GB, 256GB SSD, W10	RM2649(GST)
Asus K401UB-FR011T	i5-6200U, GT940m, 14" FHD	4GB on BD, 1TB, W10, 1.65kg, no ODD	RM2599(GST)

Seems that I'm paying about RM 50 extra for an SSD but an older architecture. Not too bothered about that particular bit tbh. The SSD "upgrade" is kinda sweet though.

I'm horrified to hear stories about Asus' warranty. How real is this and is it wise to keep away from the brand due to this?

Would be great if I could have the following sorted out:

1 - Anyone has experience with both?
2 - How much would it cost to upgrade to 8GB of ram for the Lenovo?
3 - How much would it cost to upgrade to 8GB of ram for the Asus?
4 - Would it be possible to add SSD for the Asus? If so how much?
5 - How is the build quality?
6 - Did I miss any other models? Needs to be light and slim with a standalone GPU. Not willing to increase budget any higher since I discovered these two models at such an affordable price point.

TL;DR

1 - U41 vs K401 - which is better?
2 - Cost to upgrade to 8GB of RAM?
3 - Any other models?
4 - U41 vs K401 - which has better screen?

TIA guys

Braces - Where to buy 'em?

Ring Casing - Advice?

Hello all!

I recently got my SO a rock, and would now need to set it in a ring. Any thoughts as to where is good enough? Budget is about 1k. Will need to have it by the end of Dec or 2nd of January the latest.

For ref, the rock is 0.34 carat, looking at a four prong/claw setting with no additional gems. Basically a traditional looking ring.

I saw a few places that can do customised rings:

1) Fumayco (apparently in bangsar?)
2) Hong Kong Gem (in SS2)

Habib also claims that we can bring in our own diamond and use their setting. However, after having a feel of the casing/ring, it feels somewhat...light. Would much rather to get something that feels more solid.

Would really really appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction
