How fast is SSD really?

You may have seen lots of benchmark about the read/write speed of SSD. But how fast is SSD really?
A live demo to show the duel between SSD and traditional HDD will be held at the locations below:

8/9~9/5
757J, Jalan Emas, Taman Kerjasama, Bukit Beruang, Melaka 75450 MALAYSIA(Navotech Technology Sdn Bhd)

8/2~8/29
1. Lot 3-IT-19, 3rd Floor, Low Yat Plaza(ALL IT HYPERMARKET SDN. BHD)

2. Lot 3-IT-23 & 23A, 3rd Floor, Low Yat Plaza(VIEWNET COMPUTER SYSTEM SDN. BHD)

8/2~8/29
S0-97, SECOND FLOOR, MID VALLEY MEGAMALL, MID VALLEY CITY, W.P.MAL MY 59200(FCC Technology SDN. BHD)

Two almost the same rigs will be settled to show the performance in three ways, booting up, opening multiple applications and transferring huge file. The only spec difference between two demo rigs is the storage device. One is Kingston SSDNow V+ 64GB SSD and one is 7200RPM hard disk. Believe it or not, the speed of SSD rig is almost doubled comparing to the HDD one!

Besides the live demo, there is also a lucky draw for participants to win some free prizes or SSD coupon. Have fun!

Famous video shot by sea turtle

A Dutch tourist lost his camera while on vacation in Aruba. The camera floated all the way to Key West, Florida (over 1,000 miles). A turtle found this camera and looked on it as food. It tried to take a bite and somehow hit the video button. Now this video is quite popular on YouTube. The camera is a Nikon Coolpix L18. The waterproof housing is an Ikelite and the memory card is a Kingston SD card.

Video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E43sg-Ytt58

Hong Kong: An incident of loss of a USB drive

Source: http://www.webnewswire.com/node/544795

A clerk of School of General Nursing of Kowloon Hospital has stored the personal data (name, sex, phone number and email address of some pupils) of around 300 pupil nurses in a personal USB drive for daily contact purpose. On June 12 evening, the clerk discovered the loss of the USB drive at Tuen Mun LRT Station. Sheimmediately reported the incident to police and her supervisor.

The Nursing School has informed and apologised to all pupil nurses concerned. They were also advised to beware of receiving anonymous phone calls, and report to the Nursing School immediately if there was any. So far there was no report of such phone call. The hospital has already notified the Hospital Authority Head Office through the Advanced Incidents Reporting System (AIRS).

The clerk concerned is aware of the Hospital Authority Personal Data Protection Policies since she reported duty. KH is investigating the incident and will take the appropriate disciplinary actions for the concerned clerk.KH has been reminding all staff to strictly comply with the guidelines on personal data protection. All personal data must be stored in encrypted storage media. KH will conduct more educational talks for staff on Personal Data Protection Policies and will remind hospital staff to handle personal data carefully to prevent recurrence of similar incident in future.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This kind of thing seems common today. Can anyone suggest how to prevent this happen?
