Hi, im facing this problem whereby i need to send my laptop to service centre and i do not want my important emails being exposed to third party. (not to condemn the technicians and of course there are many good & professional techcian) I tried by removing my account from Outlook but i realize all emails are still being kept in Outlook thus i delete all my emails in Outlook without knowing that i am actually deleting all emails from the server as well. It was a pain to me losing all my important references.

I still think Outlook is a very software and it helps me a lot as i need to monitor several mailbox. It there any tricks to solve this problem if this happen again?

Thank you!

Bad experience

I would like to share my experience with this computer shop called "Star..x" in Sg. Petani, Kedah. I bought an Asus laptop from that shop in July 2007 and i remember i was told that the warranty covered is 2 + 1. The common sense is 2yrs by Asus supplier and 1yr by dealer but i was wrong..

Here is the story goes..

After using it for 1 year plus Nov/Dec 2008 problem occur, we couldn't turn on the laptop. Therefore, we send back to the shop to repair. According to them, it was due to hard disk rosak.. It is still under warranty by Asus supplier so they advise me to send straight to their supplier office without having to wait too long. I have no problem because i want my laptop to repair asap. My laptop was repair in 2 weeks time. I am happy with the fast service.

Recently, Feb 2010 same problem occur.. So i tried to be smart, send the laptop to the supplier directly. I was told that the 2yrs warranty by supplier has expired. If i insist to send in the laptop, they will have to charge me for service charges. I told them the warranty given is 2 + 1, so they ask me to send through the dealer and the dealer will absord the service charges since they covered for 1yr as i told them. So i send the laptop to the dealer to avoid the service charges. When i send in the laptop to the dealer shop, the salesperson told me they will inform the repair cost before proceed further. I was like.. wtf! I told them my laptop is still under warranty given by them. Then the salesperson said will check for me and someone will call me regarding this issue. Then after few day, a girl called me said they received my laptop and will send to the supplier to repair and will inform me the repair cost before they start repair. Fine.. I told her again about the 2 + 1 warranty.. Then she said she is just an admin in office and dont know about warranty. I dont think any staffs know about their company warranty policy!!
So she said will check for me.. Ok, fine.

After a week, no news so i went to the shop to follow up my case. Then the salesperson said have not receive any news from their office and will check for me on Monday ( i went on weekend, office not working ). After few days no news, so i called up the office and the girl picked up. After verify my claim number, she told me the laptop is still with them normally they will collect in bulk then only send to supplier. Ok, nevermind.. So i check with her my warranty, she said my warranty is only for 2 yrs as Asus policy. Then she asked me to check on Asus website about the warranty. I was very frustrated but i explain to her slowly about the 2 + 1 story on the day i bought my laptop (even on receipt which i kept from the day i bought, there is a stamp stated [1 Year Warranty].. Then she said she dont know how the salesperson give warranty. I was very angry for the irresponsible business ethic. I dont want to argue with her, i asked her to check thoroughly and update me the status.

After another week, she called up and tell me after checking they found out that the hard disk is rosak again.. Same problem same cause.. And she told me if want to fix this need to replace a hard disk which will cost rm700++ FxxK! I was fxxking angry, i get from her the Asus service centre contact number thought to clarify this situation. I called up the service centre in Penang, a guy picked up. After telling him the story then he said to me, different dealers may have different warranty program. Some times they use it as a 'marketing trick'. So as a supplier also cannot control this... (I forgot to check with the service centre whether a hard disk can cost me rm700?!) Then only i understand why my dealer keep on denying my claim. Because they are one of those who use this to tipu customer.. I came across some promotion up to 2 + 5 yrs warranty.. Dont know true or not.. Guys, beware la.

Then after a few days, she called again to ask me whether to repair or not.. After discuss with my family, I decided not to repair so i ask her to send the laptop back to the shop and i will go collect. Here is the classic: The next day, she called me again saying that my laptop ok already!! She said their technician did a final checking before return my laptop and they found out it was actually due to some battery failure not the hard disk and they already fix it thus there will be a rm70 service charges for the labor cost or something... ?? WTF they are trying to do... Straight away i think of they are trying to cheat my rm700 to repair a small problem... Was that a genuien mistake? Can you forgive such mistake? And that will cost you 10 times more !!

Beware of this kind of computer shop..
