audio problem on BD player to HiTB

want to ask any sifu here who plug-in their BD player audio to HiTB with optical cable encounter such problem ?

i plug-in my Sony S370 BDP audio using optical cable thru my old HiTB for produce 5.1 DD and DTS sound since it can't support HD audio, but i hv problem with the audio sometime when playing my original BD movies half way, either it mute suddenly and hv some noise "pop pop pop" sound or mute totally especially when the movie are DTS-HD, therefore i need to keep on switch from AUX IN line to DIGITAL IN line repeatly to finish my movie.

would like to know will it be the BDs audio bitrate too high, my old HiTB can't fully support ?

last time i plug-in my DVD player audio on these way was OK, plug-in like that due to my HiTB dvd head spoil.
