ibook problem

my friend recently reinstall mac os panther on his ibook.The problem is when using itunes, the ibook just hang.So he decided to reinstall again the os again but still have the same problem.By the way,his mac panther dvd are scratches.Please give some advice on solving the problem.

update:Suddenly, can not even boot the ibook at all.
