Hi, has anyone here used the Herman Miller Embody before? How does it compare to the Wilkhahn IN or ON? I am used to the Trimension mechanism of Wilkhahn, and I am wondering if it is easy to transition to the Herman Miller Embody.

Cooker Connection Unit/Plate

I plan to do 3 dedicated wirings at either 32A or 40A to support 2 hobs and 1 oven, rated 7400W, 5800W and 9300W respectively. Currently looking for high quality cooker connection unit (ccu)/plate to connect the hob to the on/off switch and then to the power source. Seems like ccu is not popular here. Any ccu that you have in mind and recommend? Or how the connection should be done?

Karcher Steam Vacuum Cleaner

SV 1902 is the only steam vacuum cleaner series for Karcher. The retailed price is MYR5500 in Malaysia. You will open your jaw when seeing this price tag. Converting from Euro to MYR, this machine is only MYR 3000 where Singapore also selling at this price. Hence, you need to pay a hefty premium in Malaysia. AOG Marketing is the authorized distributor for Karcher consumer stuff in Malaysia. You can find out more from them. Usually you can get a better deal during home expo either a better discount, free gift, purchase with purchase or installment. You might get a lower price if you engage small vendor. The lowest deal I know is MYR4600. SV 1902 is made in Italy and it comes with a 2 years standard warranty. Normally the sales guy will come to your house demoing to you how to operate this cleaner. Their service is good. For Klang Valley, Karcher Service service center is in Puchong.

SV 1902 looks (at least from the exterior) almost 95% identical to the Polti's Vaporetto Lecoaspira series. Don't believe? See it yourself. However, specification and pricing wise, Polti is is more expensive than Karcher and Polti has quite a number of models to choose where some of the higher end models are superior than Karcher, e.g. aluminium boiler, higher steam pressure and steam output, electronic intelligence control. The price ranges from MYR 6k for low end model to MYR 15k for high end model. For Polti, you can check out the Malaysia distributor, Perfect Lifes for further information.

The beauty of SV 1902 is its all in one ability of vacuuming and steaming. You can do either vacuuming, steaming or vacuuming and steaming at the same time. Hence, don't expect this machine to be small and light as those standard vacuums and steamers. It weights 10.5 kg without accessories with dimension of 500 mm x 330 mm x 330 mm. For its class, SV 1902 is considered compact enough. I won't discuss much about the accessories where you can refer to website for further details, however, I would like to highlight that SV 1902 comes with a unique handle that controls the vacuum and steam and a special steam suction hose that connects the handle to the machine. There are castor wheels beneath it so it is very easy the turn this machine around. A parking holder is also available on the left of the body of the machine where you can park the suction pipe. However, it seems that Karcher purposely designs the parking holder to be a bit larger in size and thus the suction pipe will not park 100% fit into the holder, leaving the suction pipe parks in a slightly sloppy position. Perhaps this is to avoid the parking condition to be too rigid that can cause the holder to break. The power cord of SV 1902 is non retractable but you can wind the cord into the cable compartment which is beneath the place where water filter container is attached.

There are 4 vacuum levels and 5 steam levels that you can select to suit different cleaning tasks. Comparing to water filter vacuum cleaner DS 5600, SV 1902 has slightly lower suction power, and as compare to steam cleaner SC 1402, SV 1902 has lower heating output and higher steam pressure. You can refer to the manual for further details on the recommended setting and combination of vacuuming and steaming levels with the given accessories for various cleaning tasks. Basically SV 1902 can do both dry and wet vacuuming. Due to its steaming function, it can steam clean curtain, windows, sofa, bed, carpet, floor, bathroom and even kitchen stuffs, e.g. hob, hood, oven. If you buy the steam iron accessories, you can even turn your SV 1902 into a steam iron system.

I never own such kind of cleaner so far until I bought SV 1902 from the recent Homedec in KLCC. Hence, for user experience, I can only compare to my S-Bag vacuum cleaner, Electrolux Oxy3System ZO6330 (asthma and allergy recommended) and cordless vacuum cleaner, Electrolux Ergorapido ZB2904X. SV 1902 performs far better than ZO6330 where the suction seems more effective and the air output doesn't contain any smell or odor at all. What I can say is it is cleaner and healthier than ZO6330. Reason is simple as SV 1902 uses water as filtration and the air flow and suction design must be more efficient than ZO6330. When it comes to steaming experience, I am happy with it where the steam does do its job as claimed, e.g. removing mediocre stubborn dirt. It is about 10 minutes for the boiler to get ready with the steam. You can refill water into the water reservoir anytime without affecting the boiler since the boiler and water reservoir are separate. An internal pump will pump water from the reservoir to the boiler automatically whenever the boiled water becomes less. You can hear a mechanical sound when the water pump operates. There is one thing I don't like where water drops will come out from the nozzle whenever you start releasing the steam for the first time when the boiler is ready or when you start releasing the steam again after a while. Perhaps this is normal because the steam will convert into water when they touch the internal pipe surface which is initially cooler for the start or after resting a while. Anyway, this is not big deal as you always can suck this water via the vacuum function. I turn vacuuming and steaming function together when cleaning the floor. It is good enough where it steams (sanitizes ) the floor while vacuuming or drying up the water left on the floor due to steam. Hence, the floor is kind of dry straight after each "mopping" and you really don't need to vacuum first and then mop the floor. It is time saving where you do 2 jobs at once. It took me a while to discover, to understand and to learn the effective way of mopping the floor using this cleaner (not the machine itself but the way/direction/sequence you mop) because it is rather a question of skill and technique.

The most relevant comparison for SV 1902 should be steam vacuum cleaner vs steam vacuum cleaner, e.g. against Polti Vaporetto Lecoaspira. In term of water filtration vacuuming, I guess we can compare the experience and benchmark against Rainbow e2. I understand Rainbow is always the best when it comes to consumer grade water filtration vacuum. From those who own Rainbow, I can see Rainbow has much better accessories, e.g. various pipe sizes and adapters/nozzles to fit the vacuuming to the smallest and narrowest area. This is not found in Karcher, at least SV 1902 where the smallest size is only the crevice nozzle and there is no flexible adapter that is bendable. Though I have not used Rainbow before but from the users' experience I heard as well as information I found from other sources, definitely Rainbow is a higher class of water filtration vacuum system. Rainbow in Malaysia also being sold at MYR 5k to 8k range. With this price range, you should know what class of vacuum cleaner when you talk about Rainbow.

My verdict for Karcher SV 1902 is a reasonable buy considering the range of steam vacuum cleaner. If you want to save time, and avoid vacuuming and mopping the floor separately, and you hate cleaning with chemical, and you have allergy, and you need something that can do more like cleaning curtain, window, hob, hood, oven and bathroom, you should seriously consider SV 1902.
