Need help to access and retrieve data

Hi, i need some help on how to access and retrieve data from a secondary HDD which also has a windows XP... and contains the document and settings folder of my previous windows xp account...

The story goes likes this... i have a HDD (let's call it A) with windows xp pro and a password enabled administrator account...

recently my motherboard crashed and i could not load my windows xp from HDD A anymore .... so i used a fren's pc and made my HDD A as the secondary HDD to recover my data... the prob now is that i can't access the the folder with my username in the document and settings folder... example: C:\Document and Settings\username which contains my documents folder and desktop folders and so on... it says that the disk is write protected and cannot be accessed or something like that....

any solution or suggestion to this problem guys ??
my friend said it can be done but he has no idea how to do it...
