Samsung UA46ES5600 vs PS51E530

Hi everyone.

I'm looking to buy a new tv for parents.
Which of these 2 (UA46ES5600 / PS51E530)would be better choice?

core requirements are full hd, large screen (>42") and great picture quality.

dilemma now
UA46ES5600 -> LED, can use wifi, can install apps but not as large as 51"
PS51E530 -> large 51" but plasma (some say plasma picture nicer though)

price difference probably about rm200 or less.

mostly used by parents, so internet connectivity is just an added advantage which may not be used at all in the end.
they seem to prefer 51" screen coz it's a more tangible upgrade from current 42"

appreciate sharing of thoughts and advices.

thanks.

PSU recommendation

Hi All,

My near 2 year old CM Real Power Pro 550W just died on my early this week. I'm planning to send it for RMA since it has 5 years warranty and for the time being I want to get another PSU for my rig. I'm looking at modular PSUs for less cluttered casing.

After doing some surveys, I have narrowed down to these 2 options due to my budget constraint.

1. Silverstone Strider ST50F-230 (500W) Modular - costs around rm260/270. I can't seem to find reviews on this unit most likely because it only accepts 230V ac input where Americans can't use but I think it should perform similarly with the non Modular unit.

2. Vantec ION2+ Real Power Modular 600W - costs around rm300. I also can't find any reviews on this unit sigh. But seeing it has 5 years warranty, coming from Vantec and meets the 80 Plus criteria, i think it should be ok.

So which should i go for?
These 2 didn't state (in their website) whether they have any short circuit shut down protection, high temp shutdown protection, overload shutdown protection etc though. Should I be considering all these judging by my rig's specification?

Planning to go lowyat tomorrow to get it so just hoping can get some quick input from fellow forumers before i go and make the purchase

Here's my rig specifications for your reference so that you can roughly know the power requirement. I think either of these 2 are more than adequate for my old system

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
Asus P5E motherboard
2x 1 GB Kingmax DDR2 1066
1x WD 320GB sata
1x WD 640GB sata
3x 120mm CM 90 CFM casing fan
CM Hyper 212 CPU cooler
Palit 8800 GT Sonic
Pioneer DVD RW

I know I will have more options if I go for none modular (such as xigmatek 500W and corsair 450W) but I prefer to try out modular this time.

Thank you in advance for all your valuable inputs

House recommendation for me pls

hi everyone. i'm looking and planning to get a house in pj/kl, within like 2 - 3 years from now so i would like to get some suggestions from you all on which area is good, where is being developed now and will be finished by 3 years.

i'm looking for a landed property, a decent double storey terrace house with free hold (i know not many these days) near to rm300k.
prefer a good developer (not much knowledge at this), good surroundings or have potential to grow.
btw, a house of around 300k, typically how much do i need to pay a month, for lets say 30 years?

this is pretty much for me to stay in future, but may consider for investment too.

appreciate if can get some opinions and insights from u all on your suggested areas as well. best if got some links to the developers' websites to view the design etc.

thank you...

Help choose mobo for Intel CPU

hello guys.

I'm thinking of buying a new PC and planning to get an Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 (1333fsb) <- this CPU ok?
Would like to seek some advice on which motherboard is good.

my budget for the mobo is around 400+- preferably less than 500. too many to choose from
btw, which chipset is good? been reading about IX38 and P35. P35 mobos are more affordable and I dont need the other goodies of IX38.
how about the other chipsets? I have seen NF780i/NF750i. Are they better?

Is it wise to get a mobo that support DDR3 now to be future proof? i see some mobo support both DDR2 and DDR3 but think will get DDR2 for now since DDR3 so freaking expensive at time being.

Roughly here are the components i have in mind. Please provide some input if it's not good.

C2D E8200
2x1GB Kingston HyperX DDR800
Galaxy 8800GT 512MB
320GB WD Hdd
Silverstone ST56F 520W (enough?)

thank you.
Vista keeps crashing after RAM upgrade

Hi everyone. I just bought a pair of new Kingston 512MB DDR400 for my PC to replace my pair of 256MB RAMs.
My system has been running fine and stable with the old pair of 256MB RAMs but when i changed to the new ones, my programs keep crashing/stop responding (IM, IE, etc), services stops out of sudden, then i have experienced couple of times blue screen with my Vista Ultimate.
Basically my system can't even be error free for 30 minutes now

At first I thought it was because the RAMs are faulty, then i went to make a 1 to 1 change with the shop for a new pair. Came back tested and it's the same again. I ran Vista's memory diagnostic tool and there isn't any error found with the new memories.
I didnt change any driver, I didnt OC the RAM, I just took out my old RAMs and put in the new ones....

I can't find any similar case online where Vista crashes after memory upgrade to 1GB.
I suspect it could be the chipset drivers, but there aren't any official driver for my nForce2 chipset for vista.
When swap back my old RAMs in, the system is fine again

So, hope some forumers here can give me some advise on how i can fix this
I am running Vista Ultimate 32bit without SP1. Hopefully I dont have to resort to reinstalling my vista...
