E-Waste Disposal

Before I decided to open this thread, I had done a little bit of homework but it was of no avail. Maybe I didn't try hard enough. Hence I would like to ask for advice from you people about handling electronic waste which could range from alkaline batteries to computer parts. By handling I actually mean recycling and believe me when I say I have a crapload of unusable electronic devices sitting around waiting for the right place to be disposed of.

During my search for solutions on the internet, I came across this page here and I thought I have found the right place until I realized I was a bit too late to the game. Apparently these designated locations were opened in conjunction with PC Fairs that occurred in 2009. I certainly hope I'm wrong on that. Would anyone who's been to these points lately tell me if they still offer such services (hint: I live in KL) and if they actually accept all kinds of e-waste, even scrap cables.

If that was a no-go, perhaps you could point me to some trusted e-waste management agents who offer pick-up services. Speaking of which, I also stumbled upon this here but somehow I don't trust it too much. It seemed bogus to me. Any sort of constructive advice would be greatly appreciated.
