D-Link DIR-655

I bought this router which D-link DIR-655 a few years ago and still operating fine until unifi comes in today. I can't configure the router to connect with the default modem which is the HG850a. I bought this router like rm300+ then.. should I upgrade the firmware or what? Need help.. Thanks
