Hi guys, I need a recommendation for lawyer that do debt recovery. Long story short:

Some time back I hired an electrician to do upgrade of my house wiring. The work involved TNB approval etc. He commenced the work 'short cut method' and ran into problems. so now the work is half done. We paid him the cash upfront (which was a mistake - shouldnt have). Now I need a Writ or a letter of demand to get the cash back for the work that is not yet done.

would be grateful if anyone can recommend a good lawyer. thanks

Car loan interest rate rise

I plan to buy a car. I heard that the car hire purchase interest rate will rise next week. However when I check with the bank (e.g. MBB), they say that it is going to rise but don't know when. Is it true that interest rate or BLR going to rise next week?

Hi, I have a Kia Forte SX 2011 current mileage around 66k.

The car jerks everytime when it enters gear 4. It also have some sounds near the tyre. I suspect it have a gearbox and bearing problem.

Anyone have feedback about the Kia SC along old klang road? Or is it better if i send it to glenmarie HQ straight away?

Any feedback is appreciated

I have a vodafone K3520. is there any software that i can use to measure the rssi and snr for my connection to know where is the best place to put the modem? my current vodafone/huawei/maxis software does not provide this info. OS i'm using: windows vista/ubuntu.

Hi guys,
I'm thinking of switching OS of the comps in my house from xp to ubuntu instead of windoze vista/7. is there anybody/shop in seremban that i can seek help if there's any problem with ubuntu?

coz... my family members are not 'capable' of fixing comps the DIY way aka searching forums/help file. and i'll be working in kuantan. VNC dosen't work so well in msia especially with screamyx ONE mbps line.

Hi guys, I am planning to buy a PDA and prefer Palm OS because it is faster and more stable. However, treo 680 has no wifi and only has 0.3mp camera. so i am thinking of getting a ppc and use palm emulator. can any1 please give your opinion on this? what are the limitations about the emulator? thanks.

How to organize my HDD

Hi guys, i need some opinions.... i have :
1. WD raptor 36gb 8mb cache
2. WD 500gb sataII 16mb cache (5000KS)
3. WD 250gb sataII 16mb cache

I want to do:
1. dual boot windows and linux (ubuntu with grub)
2. pagefile on different hdd if possible
3. special partition to store torrent data
4. special partition to store all other data (working stuff)
5. swap partition used by linux
6. swap partition used by photoshop and pinnacle studio in windows

How should i organize this? should i let windows and linux be on the same hdd?

Hi guys, i'm new to linux. Currently recommended to use Ubuntu distro. Thus far, i have tried Knoppix and Ubuntu Live CDs.

Can anyone explain to me the difference between these 3 desktop environments? (ya, these 3 only for now). I consulted Mr Google but still can't understand. I don't find any thread like this in LYN. Thanks lots

Nowadays there are companies around, dunno wether they are legit or not, or their tract record good or not. anyone knows how we can trace their company background information? i mean like their workforce, annual turnover, share value, share holders, law suits, etc.

I know it can be done because the lawyers and businessman can do it. but i dunno how they do it. Government websites but have no avail. It would be useful if such information is available because it will reflect wether u can trust the company or not.

Hi guys, i need to find this software that you can install software the 'non-typical' way. For example after you install microsoft office in a comp, you can use this software to locate all the files that the installation have placed. you then can:

1. delete all of them so that there is a clean uninstallation
2. copy them and move it to another comp, which makes the installation and tweaks identical.

I am trying to create a Dual Layer DVD of windows XP pro, which you can put it into almost any PC, and it will install windows XP Pro with all the softwares and drivers you need. and you can walk away. and when you come back, you computer will be rebooted and contains the latest softwares, drivers, and tweaks at the time when this DVD was made (not the time when you use this dvd to install windows).

A slightly modified idea that i have:
1. You will need to install windows XP on a PC and follow what is in the first URL.
2. Do not install any drivers, except those that you need for an internet connection.
3. Install all latest softwares and update windows XP.
4. Make sure no virus/spyware infiltration (don't surf nonsense sites when installing software).
5. Uninstall the drivers you have installed previously for the internet connection.
6. Use sysprep from MS to gather all drivers that are not in windows XP cd.
7. sysprep will shutdown your pc once its done. use norton ghost or acronis to make a ghost image of the windows XP partition.
8. Make a bootable DVD-DL with this image inside, either with BartPE or win98.

After you restore this image into an empty hdd, the softwares will already be installed and the tweaks done. The headache lies in the drivers. Every Pc has different drivers. so you will have to have a collection of drivers to automate this installation. After all the available drivers are installed, the folder c:\sysprep will be automatically deleted. Hence all the unused drivers will not occupy extra space.

so now if i have 5 different computers with 5 different specs, i only have 1 backup.

The calculations:
Ghost allows 50% compression.
A dual layer dvd = 8.5gb
so, space available = 17gb.

Drivers: dunno how much space, maybe a few gigs since my hdd driver collection is >1gb

Softwares approx space (this are the softwares i use but others may differ):
OS:
Windows = 1500mb

Work:
Photoshop = 150mb
Acrobat Pro = 320mb
Corel Draw = 200mb
Java runtime environment = 150mb
MS office Pro = 200mb
Nero (with all the nonsense inside) = 230mb
Steinberg Wabelab = 50mb
Quicktime = 50mb
.Net framework = 40mb

Maintainence softwares:
NOD32 antivirus = 30mb
Spyware doctor = 30mb
Windows firewall = 0mb
Diskeeper = 20mb

Other blah blah softwares:
Ares, AutoGordianKnot, various codecs, firefox, winamp, winRaR etc = 150mb

Total = 2920mb excluding drivers.
Normally my ghost images works out to be around 5gb after 50% compression. I have Pinnacle studio installed inside as well (around 4gb)

Do you guys think that this idea is feasible? give your opinion. anyone tried before?

MP3 files corrupt over time

Hi.. i have a lot of mp3 files in my hdd. the problem is that some of them will corrupt after a long time. Those files that i play quite often will have no problem. every now and then i play some songs that i have not played for a long time, i will find some of them corrupted and can't be played. my hdd is in good condition. no other data or video files go corrupted. anyone knows why?

i encode my mp3 with lame encoder 160kbps via steinberg wavelab 5.0. play with windows media player 11. if the file can't be played by windows media player, i open it with wavelab, i will get a straight line which means total silence. which means wavelab can open it, but its total silence.

and btw, anyone knows any good looseless format that i can store my files?
