Buying an item from Japan via proxy site

Hi guys,

I'm going to get a leather purse from Japan via a proxy site called FromJapan which cost about RM1K.

Anyone here used their service before? Anything I should be aware of?

From what I understand there will be 2 payments that I have to make... first is for the item itself and handling fee.

And the second payment would be the shipping + custom tax. I assume this payment will only be made after the item has arrived in Msia?

Does anyone know how much the tax is going to be like?

And which shipping should I choose between EMS, FedEx, DHL?
Traveling to the US

I would like to visit the US for a week (to seek medical advice) later this year or early next year.

One of my co-workers suggested that I should get the air tickets first before applying for the VISA. But what if my application gets rejected? She had never been to the US before, so I think it's better to ask you guys who have more experience.

Should I get the air tickets first before applying for VISA?

If not, would it be more difficult to get the VISA approved without booking the tickets first?

And I want to register for an E-Banking account...

Will both accounts be placed under the same e-Banking login/account?

Can we have separate logins for different accounts?

Or are we only allowed to have 1 login for all the accounts we have with the bank?

Hey guys, I'm planning to get a DS Lite but couldn't decide whether to get the white one or the black one.

Both have pros and cons, white is sleek, nice and original but it will become yellow after sometime and dirt will trap in between the hinges and all..

Black on the other hand looks cool and suave but it will attract fingerprints etc...

I know this poll is kinda stupid but I just can't help but wanted to know what you guys think.. It serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods such as checks and money orders. PayPal performs payment processing for online vendors, auction sites, and other corporate users, for which it charges a fee. In October 2002, PayPal became a wholly owned subsidiary of eBay. Their corporate headquarters is in San Jose, California, at eBay's North First Street satellite office campus. The company also has significant operations in Omaha, Nebraska; Dublin, Ireland; and Berlin, Germany[1].

PayPal account holders must be 18 or over with a debit/credit card or bank account and an e-mail address.

Paypal replies to Malaysia Member

QUOTE

Updated: I got money in PayPal and the process to receive money from PayPal.

After I posted "PayPal Accept Malaysian", many users found that eventhough they can send fund into their account but they are unable to withdraw money from PayPal account.

Many asked, "How to withdraw money?". For the question, I send an email to PayPal and got their reply.

Here is the complete content of the reply:

QUOTE

Thanks for contacting PayPal. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your questions.

At this time we have expanded our bank withdrawals to include the banking systems of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. Since you would register your PayPal Account under Malaysia, the only bank account you will be able to add is a U.S. bank account from a branch located within the United States.

PayPal is constantly working to expand and improve our services for our customers. We hope to be expanding our bank transfer capabilities to include more countries, but due to the complexities of global finance, we cannot give a timetable for this expansion.

Please note:

- Members in some countries may not use PayPal to receive payments, and may only send payments

- Withdrawals to a foreign bank in U.S. denominated funds are not available with your PayPal Account. Only U.S. bank accounts, from a branch located within the U.S., denominated in U.S. Dollars can be added to a PayPal account

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Sincerely,
    Lori
    PayPal Community Support
    PayPal, an eBay Company

Conclusion:
* Malaysian can fund in money to their PayPal account.
* Malaysian cannot withdraw money from their PayPal account.

Possible solutions:
* Open an account in accepted countries as mentioned in the email.
* Share PayPal account with your friend who is in the accepted countries.
* Use other alternative free online payment processing companies(MoneyBookers, Ikobo, StormPay and YowCow).
