Hi guys.. In MMU a lecturer who has master's by research (engineering) can earn rm4.1k. Senior lecturers can earn up to 6.5k and associate professors almost 10k. How about in public University? and in universities in Singapore? Anyone knows?

Hi all,

Im going to finish my degree soon, currently majoring in Electronics Telecommunication. I have one more exam to go and it'll all be over. But I am still undecided on what to do next. My current CGPA is 3.98.

Part of me wants to do masters, as I am eligible to do full time masters by research (with fees waived) in MMU by becoming Graduate Research Assistant (with RM2000 salary), but at the same time I fear this option will only be useful if I choose academia as my career path. I am affraid my master will be meaningless if I choose to work real job - thus wasting the time i use to do the masters. I duwanna regret if I would have gotten better outcome if I invest the time to do masters in working industry.

If I opt to do masters, I estimate it'll take 2 years to finish. I dunno which one will be better, to work first and use the 2 years in working industry, or use it to complete my research masters.

Can you guys offer your opinions/suggestions? Will spending this 2 years to do masters be a good investment regardless of what career path I choose next?

If an engineer has masters, what will be his/her typical salary in the industry nowadays? Will masters by research be more beneficial compared to masters by coursework? If yes, in what way?
