The pathway after public accounting firm

Need advise and opinion here, may I know what are the usual pathway available after life in public accounting firm? I've been in public accounting firm for almost 3 years now and feel I might be more suited to the corporate world but still unsure what are the usual exit pathway for people of my experience.

Searching around vacancies from large corporate companies/public listed companies, I see vacancies ranges from senior exec, asst manager, manager, and even accountant position available varying between different companies. Normally which position should I go for?

Another question is to enter the finance/accounts team or the internal audit team? Currently I'm leaning more towards finance/accounts team as based on general feedback internal audit in most companies are not a good option for career development.

Thirdly, as I'm targeting corporate/commercial companies, is it more advisable to go for companies within the industry that pays well(oil and gas, property developer etc) or is it ok to go for companies within the industry that one is more interested/enthusiastic with as long as its still a large corporation?

Thanks in advance for the opinion.

Non Office Hours Social Time

I'm the type of conservative person who don't open up easily to colleagues. I threat colleagues as colleagues and not friends, I prefer to maintain professional relationship with them and 100% facilitate during work.

So I'm not fond of joining after work gathering/outing session etc, its not like I avoid it everytime but majority of the time I might just skip them and live my life not relating to people at work.

Another reason is due to what I personally feel as low range salary(which unfortunately my colleagues might think otherwise), I don't join them as it tend to cost alot more than what I usually would spend for a normal meal or outing. I'm a person who's very discipline with my own budget and will not exceed the budget allocated for a certain expenses cuz I set aside my savings before allocate the remaining to daily expenses.

So I'm asking here, should I change this kind of behaviour of mine? As I have been advised before that even though I might perform well at work, I still need to make an effort to get myself noticed.

I'm currently in the accounting field, specifically in Audit.

I was wondering, how do I direct my path more towards management, such as project management, something that involve planning, analysis and especially budgeting.

Hope to get some pointers from experience workforce here, thank you.

The Selling Paper Path

Is selling insurance/investment plan a path I should avoid?

To those already in the industry, do people look at u differently? Do friends start to avoid u? Do u feel ur hated? Does it make ur life more complicated?

Or does it boost ur interpersonal skills? Does it expand ur social circle?

What are the pros and cons?
