Clean OS Installation on mSATA (Lenovo Y500)

Okay so i've got myself a copy of the retail Win 8 Single Language 64-bit edition DVD ( Core edition, not Pro. Which is Lenovo y500 default operating system )

Tried to do a clean installation on the mSATA SSD, when half way through the message this pops out :

The product key entered does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key.

I mean isn't my product key already embedded into the system? I didn't even enter anything prior to this message.

Need some guidance here guys. I thought getting a retail DVD and do a clean installation would be easy, but apparently not. Took me quite awhile to get the retail DVD.

Is Surface RT worth it?

So I need an alternative to my laptop when it comes to going for lecture and stuffs. ( Portability )
I'm a soon to be uni student.

Is the RT really worth it for its price? It cannot run windows based program but i'm tempted by its design and its touch capabilities.
From what i've seen around the forum, 2k can get me a pretty portable and decent laptop. And certainly not only 32gb in storage size!
Are there anymore alternatives out there?

It has to be portable and friendly for a uni student, i suppose. I'm a biz student. So i'll probably deal with spreadsheets alot? I'm not sure. I'm enrolling this coming August lol!

Post STPM! Year 2013. Help needed!

Hi guys. Just got my results and fortunately enough i got a 4.0 for my overall cgpa.

My first choice is NUS / NTU.

But i'd like to apply for local public unis as backup just in case i'm not admitted to either of my 2 first choices.
Thing is i'm not sure what are the higher tier public universities there are out there ( everything is vague at the moment ) so i'd like to know the forum's opinion!

So far i've heard of
1) USM
2) UM
3) UKM
4) UPM

i'd to submit my applications asap so if you guys could list out some more good unis it'd be great!
I'm a science student ( Physics / Chemistry / Math / Pa ) but i'm interested in finance / business / accounting courses.

Secondly, is it true that courses are taught in BM in public universities?

Lastly, how does the pin number for public universities work? I was about to go BSN to get the pin but i was worried i'd mess up the application form so i'll do it later tomorrow instead after i got some pointers and help over here!

* It would also be great if you guys could suggest some good private unis because it is also one of my options. ( Finance / Business / Accounting courses )

Much appreciated guys!

Need clarification in Business Administration

I'm a 2011/2012 STPM student currently waiting for my results which will be out in this coming March.

I'm a Science Stream student ( Physics , Chemistry , Pengajian AM and Maths ) and i was thinking about applying to NUS for business admin.

My question is, will it be tough for me since i've been in science stream all my life and now i'm making a 180 turn to art stream. My concern is whether i'm capable of completing this degree without basic knowledge in econs and stuffs.

Last but not least, what are the career prospect of a business admin student?

Inquiries about Form Six.

Okay. Firstly, this is an entirely Form Six related thread, i wouldn't need any advice regarding colleges or other pre-u programmes. My mom insisted on me going to Form Six and i shall not burden her financially, as it's free.

Thing is, I was thinking to go for 5 subjects when I'm in Form Six. But I have no idea how hard is it already to go through the 4 primary subjects considering the fact how often people had whined about the difficulty of this particular form. I'd also like to admit that i DO NOT really excel in my academics. I'm a spm 2010 candidate and i've managed to get 10A's and another D for chinese. I know, yes. D for chinese.

The sole reason i thought about going for 5 subjects is the availability of numerous scholarships if I WERE TO score 5 flats in my STPM. Do you guys think there might be any chance for me to apply for scholarships for further studies in overseas if i scored only 4 instead of 5 ( If i take 4 subjects that is ) ? And I know it won't be easy for me to score 4 flats, what more 5 flats. But i'm a diligent student and i'd study as hard as possible for the sake of my future.

So, is it possible for me to take 5 subjects in STPM ( Science stream ) or rather, just forget about the idea and go for 4 subjects. I need the scholarships, or my parents won't be able to afford to send me overseas.

Edited : SPM results

BM - A-
BI - A+
Moral - A-
Mod Maths - A+
Add Maths - A+
History - A+
Physics - A+
Chemistry - A+
Biology - A ( Okay totally screwed this up during paper 3 )
EST - A
BC - D

Refer to the topic. What can i get with a 5k budget for a desktop ( without lcd ) ? It's a gaming computer, of course.
And another question, is solid state drive useful?
I'll write down my desire specs.

Intel Core i7 860 2.80GHz Processor
Asus P7P55D Pro Motherboard
Intel X25-M 80GB MLC Solid State Disk (SSD)
Western Digital 1TB Black Caviar 32MB
Lite On 24X DVD-RW Sata Optical Disk Drive
OCZ 4GB Platinum CL7 1333Mhz Dominator Tech RAM
Sapphire ATi Radeon HD5770 1GB DDR5 Graphic Card
Corsair TX850W Real Power Power Supply Unit
LanCool PC-K62 Casing with Side Window
Prolimatech Mega Shadow Deluxe Edition CPU Cooler
Cooler Master 90CFM Blue LED 12CM Casing Fan x 1 Unit
Microsoft Sidewinder X6 Keyboard & Razer Death Adder Laser Gaming mouse

And it's a total of Rm5754. But i don't think the SSD is needed so yea. It's around 5000 if i cancel out SSD.

Opinions?
