Need help with lhdn tax

Hi guys,

Need your advice and assistance. Apparently i did not pay enough tax to LHDN and now i am asked to makeup for the 'unpaid' tax to the tune of around rm14k (total) for the year 2016 and 2017. But whats funny is that i had overpaid for both the years and they refunded me the excess tax paid for both the years

Now the question is why are they suddenly sending me an email asking for tmoney out of no where? given that i had overpaid my witholding tax and refund was performed by LHDN according to the BE forms.

Anyone been through this before? Need some input here.

Btw the email is legit. From hasil.gov.my email and with two appended docs with my deets. And im asked to perform the payment @ bayar hasil lhdn website.

Thanks guys

BREAKING: Australia farm worker visa! Path to PR!

Australia’s Asean farm worker visa hits snag – from Malaysia

The Malaysian government has vetoed the possibility of Malaysians working on Australian farms.

The long-awaited Asean farm work visa to Australia to enable Asean skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled farm workers to be employed on Australian farms was ratified by the governor-general last week. Now workers from participating Asean countries will be able to enter into employment agreements with Australian farmers.

Although the legislation is enacted, there are still many unsettled details about precisely how the new visa will work.

Visa hits snag in Malaysia, Cambodia

The new Asean farm worker visa is an employer-sponsored arrangement which is subject to an employment contract meeting specified standards and obligations. However, the Malaysian government, for the first time, has decided to ban Malaysian citizens from working in Australia under this visa.

Deputy human resources minister Awang Hashim told the Dewan Negara last week that Malaysia would not take part in the scheme. Awang declared that the Australian visa was a pathway to permanent residence, and thus not acceptable to the Malaysian government.

In addition, the Australian scheme would compete against the new government’s programme of replacing foreign plantation workers with Malaysian workers. Under the Malaysianisation programme, local workers would be eligible to receive an incentive of RM500 or 20% per month of their wage, based on a minimum wage of RM1,500 per month.

Malaysians have long travelled to Australia to work, often illegally, on Australian farms, earning approximately RM12,000 per month, the majority being Chinese and Indians. With accommodation often provided by farmers, most are able to return home with savings. This appears more lucrative to working on an oil palm plantation for RM2,000, under hard living conditions.

In addition to claiming that the Australian farm worker visa would lead to permanent residence, Awang claimed that both the Australian and Malaysian work was dirty, dangerous, and difficult. However, according to the Australian department of foreign affairs and trade, Australian farm jobs must meet existing occupational health and safety standards, and this visa does not have any path to regional settlement or permanent residence.

Australian farm work is the only overseas work Malaysians have been stopped from engaging. Malaysians are free to work in primary industries in neighbouring Singapore, Brunei, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia.

There has been a backlash against human resources minister M Saravanan on social media, with some claiming they have been robbed of a lifetime opportunity because of an irrational decision regarding the Australian visa.

Malaysia is not the only country putting impediments in the way of local workers coming to Australia on the farm work visa.

The ministry of labour and vocational training in Cambodia has indicated that it would want to control worker outflow to Australia. The insertion in Australian legislation of the phrase “participating country” rather than citizens of Asean countries has allowed Asean bureaucracies to add an additional tier of red tape to farm workers coming to Australia to work. This has been shown not to always be in the farm workers’ interests. A network of unscrupulous middlemen is springing up in Asean countries to exploit potential visa applicants.

In effect, Asean bureaucracies have put a dent in what could have been a win-win situation for Australian farmers and Asean farm workers, many suffering from under-employment due to the pandemic. Malaysians will now have to look elsewhere.

sos ketchup + sriracha

Shahril confirms appointment as PM’s economic adviser
Umno info chief thanks Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, puts speculation to rest

KUALA LUMPUR – After much speculation online, Umno information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan finally confirmed his appointment as the economic director at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

In an interview with Umno Online, Shahril expressed his appreciation and thanks to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for the appointment.

Shahril, who is also the deputy Umno Youth chief, also expressed his appreciation to party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for his blessings.

“I would like to express the greatest appreciation to the prime minister for this appointment and to the president for his blessings.

“God willing, I will do my best to help the existing economic team and try to contribute towards the recovery of the macroeconomy and the people,” he said.

Last night, a photo showing Shahril and Ismail Sabri with what looked like an appointment letter made its rounds.

Earlier, Shahril told The Vibes that he said he will leave it to the PMO to make an announcement, if any.

According to his personal website, Shahril was a strategy and management consultant at McKinsey and Company for three years, and a policy officer to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin for two years.

He graduated in economics at the University of Manchester in 2008 and completed his master’s degree in race ethnicity and postcolonial studies from the London School of Economics Political Science.

Speculation was rife earlier that the Bera MP might appoint former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as his economic adviser.

However, he faced criticism seeing that Najib is facing multiple charges related to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd financial scandal.

Last month, Najib had met Ismail Sabri at the latter’s office to discuss economic challenges and strategies to address the Covid-19 pandemic – posting about the meeting on their respective Facebook pages.

Najib was prime minister and finance minister until Barisan Nasional lost the 2018 general election. – The Vibes, October 12, 2021

Book claiming Christians are enemies of Islam

KUALA LUMPUR – “Christians are the enemy of Islam who always have malicious intentions and are the bearers of lies.”

The quote above is one of several controversial general conclusions made by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) in a book it first published in 2014, which is now circulating again in digital format in various chat groups and social media sites.

Titled Pendedahan Agenda Kristian (Exposing the Christian Agenda), the book, which focuses on evangelistic movements and efforts to Christianise Muslims, had previously courted controversy for its contents many described as skewed.

Now making its rounds again, concerns have been raised over some of the statements and conclusions made by Mais about Christians.

In his foreword, then Mais chairman Datuk Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa said Muslims in Selangor need to be given exposure and understanding of the Christianisation movement and evangelism, which he described as organised efforts to weaken Islam.

Quoting Quranic verses and hadith (sayings of Prophet Muhammad), Mais said Christians can be concluded to be enemies of Islam, and that they are always attempting to distort facts pertaining to the truth of Islamic teachings.

“Christians will try their best to create resentment among the Muslims,” Mais said in the book.

“Muslims must be stern and careful of Christians, and we must not follow or regard them as our protectors, leaders or guardians.

“If we are oblivious or doubtful of the truth about Islam, then it will be easier to be influenced by the lies of the Christians.”

The Vibes has contacted Mais and has yet to receive its comment on the matter.

A spokesman for Selangor exco Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni was recently quoted by FMT as saying Mais has not received any complaints that the book has caused disharmony among non-Muslims, but that it would be open to review the publication should a report be lodged.

The book also describes evangelism as one of several characteristics of the church sect, but pointed out that existing legislation in Malaysia prohibits such movements over the Muslim community, including forbidding missionaries and followers of other religions to implement any initiative that can confuse Muslims.

Mais went on to say that Christianisation is among the reasons apostasy occurs among Muslims, with Christians being the most active group in trying to convert Malaysians.

It also expressed concerns that the Muslim population in Malaysia would decrease in coming years if this movement is allowed to continue.

“This Christian agenda is a highly cunning organised movement that often operates under the radar. Their latest strategy is supposedly to be friendly with Muslims and at the same time convince them of the need to accept Christian teachings.”

To address the “issue”, Mais said that among other things, the federal government must introduce an apostate act and give greater power to the shariah court to handle cases involving Muslims, while Islamic religious authorities should introduce an enactment to control the propagation of religion.

In its conclusion, Mais says: “We Muslims in Malaysia do not want to be enemies with Christians. Islam teaches us to convey grace to the whole world.

“However, we feel disturbed by the action of Christian evangelists who are trying to cause Muslims to apostatise. We are also uneasy when these groups earnestly fight to defend apostates, and even help them facilitate their apostate affairs,” it said. – The Vibes, May 3, 2021

sos

sos pil jihad

5 party leaders meet ahead of audiences with Agong

KUALA LUMPUR: Top leaders of five parties are meeting today ahead of their audiences with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong today, FMT has learnt.

This followed a closed-door meeting by Umno and PAS leaders late last night at the Umno headquarters here.

It is understood that the presidents of Umno, PAS, PPBM, Sabah’s Warisan and Sarawak’s GPS are strategising a political compromise among them, as political blocks scramble to get a majority position to fill the vacuum created by the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government.

The five party presidents are Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (Umno), Abdul Hadi Awang (PAS), Muhyiddin Yassin (PPBM), Shafie Apdal (Warisan) and Abang Johari Openg (GPS).

The Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, has agreed to meet MPs from separate parties in batches today.

It is understood that the series of meetings at Istana Negara will start with GPS, followed by PAS, and then Umno, at around 1pm today.

“The five leaders are expected to hold a joint press conference later today,” the source told FMT.

FMT has learnt that during last night’s meeting involving Barisan Nasional MPs, Khairy Jamaluddin and Nazri Aziz were not present.

“Where the two stand, we are not sure. They could possibly be among the floating MPs,” the source added.

Shocking developments since Sunday ended yesterday with the collapse of Pakatan Harapan, the four-member coalition led by Dr Mahathir Mohamad which came to power in May 2018.

Mahathir’s resignation yesterday came after a day of political manoeuvres among MPs from PPBM, Umno, PAS and others intent on forming a new coalition to take power.

He also resigned as the chairman of PPBM, which has since announced it is no longer part of PH.

Meanwhile, PKR’s parliamentary strength also took a blow after its deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali and vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin were sacked.

This was followed by nine of its MPs quitting the party and forming an independent block.

MP denies giving speech in mosque

MP denies giving speech in mosque after royal rebuke

PETALING JAYA: Labis MP Pang Hok Liong has denied giving a speech at a mosque in his constituency last week, after a picture of him apparently speaking there went viral on Facebook, earning him a rebuke from Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.

Sultan Ibrahim said he had received complaints from the community there who were uneasy that Pang had reportedly given a speech in the mosque. This was despite repeated reminders from him and the Johor Islamic Religious Department for mosque administrators to bar politicians from using such venues for political activities, he said.

The sultan added that Pang’s act was a “serious” infringement of the sanctity of the mosque, and threatened the position of Islam in the state.

“This is a violation of the boundaries which I have set as the head of Islam in Johor,” he said, adding that he could not accept the act which he described as rude, unethical and making light of Islamic principles and practices.

He also said politicians often use mosques as a platform to speak ill of others, which could lead to uneasiness among the people, some of whom might hold different political views.

Adding that mosques are off-limits to partisan politics, he said action would be taken against those who are involved in such infringements.

“All political activities in mosques and suraus in Johor must be stopped immediately and such infringements cannot happen again.”

When contacted by FMT, though, Pang said he had only gone to the mosque in his capacity as MP to announce an allocation as part of his decision to give RM1,000 for every mosque and RM500 for each surau in his constituency in conjunction with Ramadan this year, from his budget as a lawmaker.

He said he was invited to enter the mosque after his allocation was announced, adding that he had earlier been sitting outside with the other non-Muslims.

Upon entering the mosque, he said, he thanked a member of the community for appreciating his allocation.

“(But) if you trace back, there was no speech. I did not give a speech or a political speech,” he said. “Is this an offence?”

He added that he had not even taken a group picture with anyone during that event.

He also said he had responded to the person who posted the picture of him on Facebook, explaining that he was not making a political speech.

He urged those involved in circulating the picture to be more tactful, saying it was irresponsible of them to make it seem as though he was being disrespectful of Islam.

During Pakatan Harapan’s time in the opposition, he added, they had always reminded the Barisan Nasional government not to let mosques be used as a platform for political speeches, which was in line with his own views.

SOS

BN MP worries about sex scenes

BN MP worries about sex scenes, LGBT elements on Netflix

PARLIAMENT | A BN lawmaker today raised concern about sex scenes and LGBT representation appearing on online media service provider Netflix.

Mastura Mohd Yazid (BN-Kuala Kangsar) said such material was causing concern among Malaysians.

"This is about films on Netflix. Are there different mechanisms between those ordinarily used to censor films and those on Netflix?

"Because I am seeing widespread sex scenes and LGBT elements which are causing worry among the people," she told the Dewan Rakyat.

Mastura had addressed the question to Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo who was delivering his winding-up speech following the debate on the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong speech.
Gobind noted that other MPs have also realised similar concerns and promised to address them in a written reply.

"Can I give it to you in writing, because it's among the same issues raised by Bachok (MP Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz).

"So I will come back to you on censorship and other issues about tackling this problem," he said.

sos
