Looking to do my MBA but not sure where to do. I'm working and have family commitment, prefer executive type of MBA so it won't burden me too much to balance between work and study.

Thought of doing it at MMU they have the executive MBA. Most public uni dont offer executive MBA. Is there any other option for me?

Thanks.

Slow Samsung S20 sales

QUOTE

The Samsung Galaxy S20 looks like it's off to a slow start, with early sales figures suggesting it's proving far less popular than its predecessor, the Galaxy S10.

Samsung's latest flagship series has gone on sale in its home market of South Korea, and according to the Korean Herald, the Galaxy S20 sold 50% fewer units on opening day than the Galaxy S10 did in 2019.

The report claims Samsung sold 70,800 Galaxy S20 units in Korea on February 27, while the Galaxy S10 series shifted 140,000 on day one, with the Galaxy Note 10 proving even more popular with 220,000 initial day sales.

Apparently it's not totally the new handset's fault, with industry sources claiming that the spread of coronavirus is playing a part in the low sales figures. However, news of lower sales figures versus the Galaxy S10 series doesn't come as a complete surprise.

We also don't have sales figures specifically for the high-end (and hyper-expensive) Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, so it's not clear whether the number above relates to just the S20, or the Ultra and S20 Plus too.

The Galaxy S20 is just less popular
We've been tracking the Samsung Galaxy S20 for months, and we've seen less consumer interest in the handset in the build up to its launch back on February 11, 2020 compared to the Galaxy S10 in 2019.

According to Google Trends data, the spike in interest at launch time for the Galaxy S20 was around half that of the interest around the Galaxy S10.

That's a big difference between the two generations, but one which isn't totally unexpected. Smartphone launches tend to follow a tick-tock cadence, with a 'tick' year usually giving us a new handset with ground-breaking features, followed by a 'tock' year where a new handset gets more incremental updates over the previous version.

The Galaxy S10 was a 'tick' year for Samsung, as it looked to reboot its flagship line with a trio of handsets (in the S10e, S10 and S10 Plus), plus a bonus fourth offering in the form of the Galaxy S10 5G.

That means 2020 is a 'tock' year for the brand, with the Samsung Galaxy S20 series building on the foundations built by the S10, but ultimately not providing the same level of revolution.

It's still early days for the Galaxy S20 though, and the range is currently only on sale in Korea - meaning there's plenty of time and scope for Samsung to secure huge sales.

The Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and Galaxy S20 Ultra go on sale in the US, Australia and the Middle East on March 6, and the handsets will then hit the UK and Europe on March 13.

https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/samsung-g...w-start-but-why

Let's learn from Singapore education system

QUOTE

LETTERS: AFTER 62 years of independence, there is only a slight sign of racial integration.

What has prevented racial integration? It is our education system.

Every country has only one language as medium of instruction in schools, bringing students of all races together, moulding their thoughts of togetherness in their young minds.

It is a universally-accepted fact that thoughts instilled in young ones mould their perception and character.

We can look at Singapore as an example. Although the majority of the population is Chinese, they don’t have Chinese schools. They have only one language — English — as the medium of instruction, while allotting school hours for Chinese, Malay and Tamil.

The Chinese don’t make any fuss about it.

In this way, Singaporeans have a unified national conviction that they are Singaporeans. The same is seen in Thailand and Indonesia.

The time has come for Malaysia to adopt the same procedure.

There should be no vernacular schools in the country. All schools must be national schools with Bahasa Malaysia as the medium of instruction.

A few periods can be allotted for Chinese and Tamil when Muslim students have religious classes.

I am positive that this is the only way to bring about racial integration and national harmony in the country. Otherwise, we cannot envisage racial unity even in the next 100 years.

The government must be firm and not get bogged down by objections.

This transformation must be brought about by latest the end of next year.

Otherwise, there will never be an end to polarisation, which will spark off racial tension.

Khat, or Jawi, should not be enforced on students of other races.

Romanised Malay has been accepted by all. Let us keep only to that.

AZIM SAMAN

Ipoh, Perak

The views expressed in this article are the author’s own and do not necessarily reflect those of the New Straits Times

https://www.nst.com.my/opinion/letters/2020...jCH70E0sN0fzWFg

My wishlist for the new Education Minister

implement the much needed education reform by:

streamlining all types of schools (SK,SJKC,SJKT,Sekolah Agama) in Malaysia into a single stream school with the following criteria:
i. compulsory to learn Malay and English for all students;
ii. subject such as Chinese and Tamil language are optional and everybody can take it if they want (Malay,Chinese,Indian etc) - opportunity for everybody to master at least 3 languages; and
iii. subject such as Pendidikan Islam is compulsory to Muslim students only.

only then the nation building process can take place

if PH can do this, i will support them in the next GE

Lim Lian Geok, Dong Zong dilucut warganegara

QUOTE

Mungkin negara kita dah lama amalkan sistem pendidikan pelbagai bahasa pengantar.

Ang Ming Chee, (2014) Institutions and Social Mobilization: The Chinese Education Movement in Malaysia 1951-2011 (mukasurat 54)

Kua Kia Soong (2010), Lim Lian Geok: Soul of The Malaysian Chinese (mukasurat 45)

UiTM Actuarial Science gains highest accreditation

Today, the Centre for Actuarial Studies has successfully produced thousands of graduates who are sought after in the industry. Holding a graduate employability (GE) rate of more than 90% in 2017, most of the graduates are mainly working in the insurance and banking sectors. Recently, on 7th November 2019, the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Actuarial Science achieved another milestone when it got accreditation by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), United Kingdom.

This recognition provides students who graduate in BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Science from UiTM to get professional exemptions on a few subjects such as Actuarial Statistics, Actuarial Mathematics, Business Finance and Business Economics based on the IFoA new curriculum effective March 2020 intake.

We can proudly say that UiTM is the first public university in Malaysia which has received the highest number of exemptions for actuarial science professional papers. The faculty is currently working hard to get the exemption for one more module, Actuarial Statistics. It is their hope to get full accreditation by IFoA before semester March 2020 commences.

https://qswownews.com/uitms-actuarial-scien...n-from-ifoa-uk/

Tun Razak would be proud of Salwani and Saadatul

QUOTE

When Tun Abdul Razak was prime minister, he stated in an address to the civil service: “As civil servants, I hope you will stand up to us politicians, and not allow yourselves to be dominated by us. Because in a true democracy, the civil servants have a duty to perform. The future of our country’s democratic way of life is dependent on you.”

Razak would have been very proud of the two brave civil servants who stood up against instructions they felt were against the interests of the nation. They are Nor Salwani Muhammad and her immediate superior Saadatul Nafisah Bashir Ahmad. From the National Audit Department, the brave women were in the team that conducted a special audit on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) in 2015.

Last week, revelations were made at the 1MDB audit tampering trial of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who, ironically, is Razak’s son, about how the two public servants did their best to stop attempts to cover up damaging parts of the audit report.

Blocked from taking minutes of a meeting called in early 2016 to amend the report, Salwani secretly put a tape recorder into the pencil case of her immediate boss Saadatul, who had been allowed to remain in the meeting room.

In the recording, Saadatul was heard speaking out against the instruction given by her ultimate boss, Chief Secretary Tan Sri Ali Hamsa, and Najib’s then senior private secretary Tan Sri Shukry Mohd Salleh, to delete parts deemed to be politically damaging.

Her objection proved futile because those at the meeting, like Ali Hamsa and the then Auditor-General Tan Sri Amrin Buang, caved in to Najib’s demands.

Instructions were also given to destroy all copies of the original audit report but Salwani kept one copy. Today, that copy and the audio recording are critical to the framing of the charges against Najib and Arul Kanda.

Kudos to Salwani and Saadatul. We are sure there are many more brave public servants like them and hope there will be even more going forward. Civil servants must stand up to politicians in power and say no when they are asked to do something that is illegal and against the national interest.

https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/fran...BbDEi8.facebook

Kata-kata abang menyedarkan saya lalu ambil keputusan belajar kemahiran di ABM.

“Masa mula-mula kerja gaji saya hanya RM1,400.

Artikel Penuh : https://www.sinarharian.com.my/article/5316...YdPb2k5eLisrKVU
© 2018 Hakcipta Terpelihara Kumpulan Karangkraf

Petition to abolish vernacular school

https://www.change.org/p/ministry-of-educat...national-school

Just signed. Lets sign this.

Vernacular school was introduced and the impact to Malaysia is social divide. There are interest groups that doesn't want to accept single national identity, but does not have enough statesmen to push Malaysia forward. The vernacular school system is currently holding Malaysian progressing forward as a nation.

Defending vernacular school means with holding progress of a nation. Thus, for the sake of Malaysian future. Vernacular school in Malaysia is now irrelevant to progress and should be abolish. It has been proven by so many countries, the country succeed through single national stream systems.
