Hard drive issue

I have a 2 month old Lenovo G450 W7HP. The used space on tat he local disk (Hard drive) seems to be increasing by itself. Its now almost 30GB and Ive not installed anything except msn, skype and ms office+windows in it.

Ive been trying to keep track of it. The used space was 28.5 GB 2 hours ago. I left some music on while doing some paperwork and now its 28.7 GB. What is going on!? Its a new computer.

Please help.

Hi,

I have 2 month old Lenovo G450 on Windows 7 Home Premium. I've been getting this error message for a while now, just didnt get the chance to post here to ask the sifus.

The error message that i get is:

QUOTE

Windows explorer has stopped working
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem
Windows explorer is restarting

Can someone advice me?

My new 2 week old laptop seems to be working extra hard. The fan is constantly on, cpu usage 55-90%. Memory when using skype and mozilla is 1.5gb. I found csrss.exe on task manager.

What is it, any problems to my laptop?

My new Lenovo g450 on W7 64 bit has its fan constanty on. Is there something wrong with it? How can i check its temperature and can the fan settings be adjusted?

laptop hdd help

I download some word, mudic and video files for my studies from our uni network. I use firefox. So, i click to save the files on my laptop desktop. After using those files, i right click>delete the files>empty recycle bins.

Does that mean the files are permanently gone or is it saved elsewhere when i download and save them on desktop? This is because, my laptop had 20GB of free HDD space and over time it seems to be decreasing slowly without me installing/saving anything else.

Can someone care to tell me whats going on?

Im going to buy one later this afternoon. So, what do i need to check when i buy a new laptop? I know the right click my computer to check some stuffs, but can someone please provide the things that i need to check?

Also, what to do with the battery, charge for 8 hours straight non-stop? Do i need to remove the battery while connected to the power?

Choosing between 2 laptops

Hi all,

I went to lowyat last weekend and saw some laptops myself after the recommendation by fellow members here. Basically, I've come down to 2 or 3 models.

1. Toshiba L510-4314
C2D T6600, 4GB DR3, 320GB, ATI 4570, W7HP, 1 yr Int at Rm 2699

2. Lenovo G450
C2D T6600, 2GB DDR2, 320GB, G210, W7HP, 1 yr local at RM 2249 cos of the W7HP

My usage is for basic use of net surfing, ms office, chatting etc. I need to bring it to overseas. Finding it hard to choose between this 2 models.

Also, Ive seen the BenQ S42 which is at RM 2299 but no DOS, and need another RM400 for W7HP. I'm not a very computer savvy person, so i dont know what can i do with free dos, do i have to buy windows, can someone explain?

Also, the S42 design is very simple and the blue plastic layer seems to be coming out very easily.

I do not really like Asus cos of its AMD processor, prefer a Intel myself. Personal preferance.

Hello Guys, I'm thinking of buying a laptop in the UK. Can anyone explain which one is better?

1. Asus X5DIJ Laptop, Intel Core 2 Duo T5870, 3GB RAM, 320GB HDD, 15.6 TFT, DVD-SM, GMA X4500M, WLAN, BGN, Webcam, Vista Home Premium

2. Acer Aspire 5738Z Laptop, Pentium Dual Core T4200 2.0GHz, 160GB HDD, 3GB RAM, 15.6" TFT, DVD±RW, Vista Home Premium

Few importance differences to note and compare:

1. Asus is using Intel Core 2 Duo T5870 while Acer is using Pentium Dual Core T4200. According to the CPU benchmark website, which i think is quite reasonable - the pentium dual core is a better performer than the core 2 Duo.

2. The Asus Core 2 Duo would use a 2Mb Cache while the Acer Pentium Dual Core only has 1Mb Cache. How important is that extra 1Mb Cache?

3. The Asus has 3GB RAM + Embedded Intel® GMA X4500M while the Acer uses 3GB RAM + Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M (Intel® GMA 4500M) - I think both laptops use shared graphics then - so, equal here.

Ok, which one is better?
Option 1: Asus with bigger cache
Option 2 : Acer with a better processor + £50 in the bank.

I'm a computer novice, so would appreciate some advice here. Many thanks in advance!

Also, the conversion rate is £1=RM5.6, so based on the two above is it better to get one in Malaysia. I think the UK ones are cheaper. Advice?
