having problem with golden retriever

I got a golden retriever from my sis bf's friend and my problem is, every time when raining or someone play the fireworks, it started to bark for a long period of time which facing inside. when someone is going to ask it keep quiet / try to smack it, it will hide some where and when we turn back, it will come out again and started to bark..
this is very annoying..

*sometimes we do tide it inside the toilet for the sake of peace and this is the easiest way to let it keep quiet..

any1 has any solutions?
