Net Issue

Hey there guys.
I purchased a new Dell Studio 15 bout a month ago, and everything was alright. My internet was running at its proper speed, etc.
Then bout 2 weeks back, it started acting up. Sites like gmail, facebook and others simply cannot load.
I have tried everything within my little PC frame of knowledge like:

Check the Router
Result: All the other PCs in my house are running fine, able to browse the web and such.
I even called the TMNut technician, who came and ran a few checks, and determined that there was nothing wrong with my phone line or modem/router. It had smth to do with my PC.

So, I tried the system restore thing to two weeks back, and while it has improved SLIGHTLY, it is still an overall pain, and is acting wayy wayyyy slower than my other PCs in my house. Could someone please help me rectify this problem?

Well, today sure is depressing.
My faithful ASUS laptop of 5 years finally died on me.
I guess it's about time anyway. It had 32G for crying out loud. Even the N97 has more space than it.
So, anyway. Being a PC newbie, I've resorted to coming here for advise.
What I would really appreciate is recommendations for a gaming PC.
I'm looking at somewhere between RM 1.8k - RM 2k.
I would rather not go with AMD. (I've heard nothing but bad things about it. Any truth to this?) So, I was thinking of a Pentium. And also, a Nvidia Graphic Card.

Any feedback or opinions from you guys would be greatly appreciated.
Each reply saves a child in Kazakhstan. So, if not for me, do it for the kids.
