Hi forumers,

This is a simple Network Design which I would like to deploy for home. However, I wanted to see if anything could be improve. Do have a look and let me know.

Also, if the router retains it's default IP, which isn't apart of the VLANs, but I do understand default VLAN1 is untagged. Would my two VLANs still be able to communicate with the router ?

Problem details
First occurence of problem: Today Morning
Problem frequency: presisting
Problem description: NO INTERNET ACCESS. TM modem LAN led off. Optical and Power on. Maxis router, Broadband and Internet Off, Ethernet and Wifi On.

Patch cable working, connected from TM Modem LAN2 to Router WAN

My question, will changing new router get my internet working again ?

Maxis customer service say if Broadband led and LAN led from Router and Modem are off respectively means problem with my connection or device.

Troubleshoot checklist:-
- On and off Modem and Router
- Reset Maxis router
- Using three different Ethernet cable (cables all working)
- Unplugging all cable from Router LAN port

I made a purchase through Amazon,
Everything is ok and there are no problems as of writing this post.

I just want to enquire, if the UPS tracker says "Scheduled Delivery by End Of Day 30th Oct"
And current status is "Out for Delivery 10.33am 30th Oct"

It means I should be receiving my package somewhere today yes ?
If so does anyone have any experience as to know usually what time they arrived ? Like a range of time or something.

DDNS setup in Router or Device ?

I have recently setup a home surveillance system, and I'm planning to register a Dynamic DNS for remote access.

However the dilemma I have is that my DVR also supports DDNS.

Should I setup DDNS on the DVR or the router ?

One more thing I wanna know

If I type my external IP like 12.345.678.910 it will go straight into my CCTV web login, however I do have another server but I only can access that server if I add it's port number to the end of my ip which looks like 12.345.678.910:1235.
but by default without the port number at the end of the IP it will take me to my CCTV web server.

My question is what dictates the default routing to my CCTV via my external IP.

I was wondering,

Lets say we have dynamic IP from ISP 123.456.789.1

I have a device in my LAN IP 192.168.0.1 using port 80.

Provided all ports are forwarded and working.

I just want to know what is the correct address to access the device remotely.

123.456.789.1:80
The above should be correct right ?
Given your router has been forwarded to port 80, if there is an inbound from the internet it will forward it to the device (192.168.0.1) yes ?

By my understanding, only 1 device can use 1 port if this is the case yes ?

I'm asking because I've done alot of research but this is all i understand so far, maybe if there are networking experts can clarify my understanding.

Confuse between Stereo/Mono Splitter.

Hi Forumers,

I have a dilemma.

Is there actually such thing as a 3.5mm stereo male-out to 2x 3.5mm female mono-in splitter ? (Y-splitter) Basically separating the left and right channel to both inputs respectively.
Not to be confuse with 3.5MM to Phono RCA which I know exist.

My assumption is that all 3.5mm splitters will input stereo to both female ends.
I've actually bought the splitters and tested with a stereo track to both my headphones and the stereo works normally.

Testing topology
Stereo source out > 3.5mm splitter > Headphone1 and Headphone 2. Both headphones 1 and 2 detects the stereo track normally.

What I want
Stereo source out > 3.5mm splitter > leftchannel and right channel.

Unusual sound coming from speakers.

Hi forumers,

Everytime i shut down my PC, during the power off phase (PSU shuts off completely), there is an unusual sound coming from my speakers.
It sounds very scary as well, like someone opening a broken door. The first time it happen, I literally got a scare of my life as it was like 2am.

Anyone have any experience before ? I'm looking for some answers or guesses to what may cause this problem.
