HDMI converted to CAT5/6 cable

A question.
HDMI converted to CAT6, cable for long runs, say about 100 feet.
Will the resolution still be HD?
Thinking of splitting the HDMI signal from the astro b'yond decoder downstairs and send it via CAT6 cable to a HD TV upstairs.

What media player to get for hi def files?

Hi guys,
I downloaded some high def files files here but when played on my Dune, it is an unsupported fromat.
No problem playing on my computer with windows Media Player, and even on my crappy headphones, it sounds fantastic.
Any suggestion, other than using a laptop.

Lately, I have been playing some flac music only files with my Dune Base 3.0.
Dune Base 3.0-->HDMI-->Denon 3808-->RCA Pre-out-->Anthem Power Amp-->Speakers.
Then Denon is also connected to my projector
I set the avr Denon 3808 to True Direct and the projector needs to be on to show the menu and song titles for navigation..
The Dune Base has a very small window with a sr\crolling display.

Last night, I decided to listen with the projector off and wow...there difference is significant.
The volume is higher, more weight and body and cleare separation and details.
Do you guys experience the same?

Actually it is my wife's digi phone that got scammed.
She is on a plan with auto-billing/debit via credit card.

We asked and got an itemized bill via emails.
Under the Mobile Services we found the culprit.

A recurring every other day Value Added Service 0400, No. sent to 220400.
Each entry cost RM4.00 and there were many in a month.
Total per month was on average RM68.

Called digi and the 2nd level support helped to send an SMS to stop the service.
However, we were asked to call the 32711 provider Makro Kiosk Bhd,...basically washing their hands off the matter.

Tried calling the number provided i.e. 03-2164 3273 and all I got was a n answering machine.
Finally left a short but curt msg on their Consumer Support HelpForm.

How can a service sms ever cost RM4 each. It is clearly designed to cheat us of our money.
And they send it on alternate days.

The telcos are complicit in this devious and crooked scheme too .
When we asked why we didn't get a regular statement, the CSR just said no email or mailing address. on record..what **llshit.

Radioshack SPL meter

All along I have been using the 80dB setting on the RS meter for post Audyssey level matching to 75dB.
Ever since I got the Denon 3808, I noticed I needed to reduce the trims for all the channels, except the SW, by -3dB
Except for the subwoofer channel which is close to what Audyssey sets, this is a constant result despite many repeated attempts and a new Audyssey mic.

Last night, I decided to use the 70dB setting and the results were spot on as per the Audyssey calibration, +/- 0.5dB difference.
Testing with the opening scene in LOTR -FOTR, Galadriel's voice is more prominent and the surrounds are more noticeable and immersive.
Soundstage is wider but the is more forward too.

So which is the preferred setting you all use?

Can anyone give me a step by step guide as to how to add a new movie file to a HDD that already has the Zappitti jukebox.
Whenever I add a new file, , it rescans the whole HDD and I need to scrape everything again.
Some files were done manually and so it takes time for a 2TB HDD to be redone again.
I think the problem lies in the shared folder path but I am stuck.
Please help, uncle here is IT illiterate, but willing to learn

HDMI Splitter and Extender

Hi,
I want to split the HDMI output from the Denon 3808.
One to the plasma TV which is a less tha 1.5 m away.
The other output will be to the projector, about 45 feet away.
Will I need an splitter with extender for this or will just a splitter suffice?

The Incredibles, the scene where Mr Incredible threw the bubble car and as it landed at the gates to Sindrome's HQ.
It brought a huge grin to my face and made me realize I didn't make a mistake going for my dual SVS
The LFE was thunderous and was as good as if not better, then Tai Lun's landing in the Fight with the Furious Five at the suspension bridge ( KungFu Panda).
Care to share yours.

Audyssey Calibration Mic

I was lucky to be gifted a pre-owned Denon 3808 in excellent condition.
The sound signature is very different from my Onkie and the extra power shows in the separation and details in the surrounds.
Even the center channel's dialogue clarity is much improved. ( should have changed amp rather than a new center speaker)
Unfortunately, it came with new mic. (DM-A409).
When I ran Audyssey, all the channels were +3 to +4 dB over and the sub was over by +4 dB.
On checking online, the mic for the 3808 is DM-A405 and not the one I have.
Aside form the higher gains, will it matter with regards to the speakers' and sub's eq?

My SD astro decoder is downstairs in the living hall and is also currently, hardwired via the antenae connection to my TV upstairs.
The sound is in mono and the image is having interference, with wavy lines going through it.

Audyssey EQ Calibration.

After running 2EQ on my Onkyo 607, can I manually change the distance as I do for the cross-over?
If I change the distance manually, especially for the sub, will it change the phase too?
2EQ has no sub eq but does it measure the phase for the sub and set the distance accordingly to compensate?
Thus, the distance set for the sub takes phase into consideration and should not be changed?

DIY Bass Trap

I am going to make another 3 bass traps.
This time I will use 100kg/sq.m rockwool as the core and use cream colored textile as the cover.
The black speaker cloth makes the traps stand out like sore thumbs in my living room.
The HM is just starting to mind a tad bit, so the choice of color is being left to her...
Anyhow, if anyone else is interested to DIY, pls pm me.

I am looking for this item and need advise as to what is a good brand and the expected fair price to pay.
I am u going to use it for connection to a spl meter and a AV receiver for room calibration via a lap-top.
The line in and line out is essential for this to work.
