BBC Two has released the first trailer for their upcoming facual drama about Lady Seymour Worsley titled The Scandalous Lady W (formerly known as The Lady In Red), which is being toplined by Game Of Thrones star Natalie Dormer.

The Scandalous Law W tells the “untold” story of Lady Seymour Worsley (Dormer), who finds herself in a trial brought by her husband Sir Richard Worsley after she decides to leave her troubled marriage and elope with her husband’s best friend Captain George Bisset. The revelations challenge the hypocrisy of the law that brands a wife the property of her husband and calls into question the whole concept of a woman’s ‘worth’. Shaun Evans (Endeavour) and Aneurin Barnard (The White Queen) also star.

Malaysia was a former British colony, occupied for hundreds of years. By 1980’s, Malaysia had been independent for almost two decades, from 1957. By 1981, the Federation of Malaysia was a developing nation, striving to achieve a status of industrialized country. By July of the same year, a new Prime Minister came to power, Mahathir Mohamad. Few months after his appointment, he presided over a clash between the former colony and former colonizers.

The Buy British Last Policy was announced by Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad in 1981. The policy was retaliation from number of British aggravations. The main spark concerned the large British company of Guthrie. Guthrie owned about 200,000 acres of rubber plantation in Malaysia. In 1981, the Malaysian Perbadanan Nasional Berhad or otherwise known as the National Equity Corporation launched a dawn raid at the London Stock Exchange that resulted to the acquisition of Guthrie. The takeover of Guthrie was a retaliation of the Malaysian government for the British company’s decision to sell its subsidiaries to the Multi-Purpose Holding of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA). This selling to the MCA was against the agenda of the Malaysian government under the New Economic Program, which, 1990, 30% corporate ownership of ethnic Malays. The British government was shocked from the takeover and decided to change the rules of the London Stock Exchange to avoid another dawn raids and take-overs.

Another grievances done by the British to the Malaysian government was its decision to increase the tuition fees of foreign students studying in Great Britain. The increase was threefold, from about £300 to £900. The increase highly affected the Malaysians, having 13,000 government-sponsored students studying in Britain.

The two events resulted to the dismay of the Malaysians. The change of rules blocked any hope of owning British companies that had significant assets to the natural resources of Malaysia. The increase of tuition fee would result to the increase of government expenditures for sending students to Britain. As a result of the British government’s decision, Prime Minister Mahathir announced the Buy British Last Policy.

Under the Buy British Last Policy, restrictions were placed on British imports and contracts. All contracts and imports from Britain must first be approved by the Prime Minister’s Office. Accompanying the requests, a list of possible substitutes from non-British companies or products must be sent as well. The policy hampered any trade between Great Britain and Malaysia.

The initial reactions to the Buy British Policy were mixed. The Malaysians, especially the young and members of Mahathir’s party the United Malays National Organization, were ecstatic by the policy. A sense of nationalism aroused from many Malays and memories of British colonialism were remembered. Importers of British goods and British companies looking for contracts in Malaysia were also concerned by the restrictions. With the restrictions, doing business in the country could get difficult and cause expensive delays. Great Britian, under the Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher, also became concerned with the policy. For starters, a lot of trade in Asia was conducted with Malaysia. Another, the tendency of Malaysia ceding from the British led Commonwealth of Nations became highly probable. The cause of concern of was Malaysia’s decision not just to boycott British contracts and products, but also the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in 1981 in Melbourne. Mahathir’s boycott of the CHOGM was again followed in 1983.

Thatcher wanted the tension resolved. She sent her Foreign Minister, the Baron Carrington and her Defense Minister John Notts to negotiate with Mahathir for the end of the Buy British Last Policy. Worse in 1982, the Malaysian government took the Carcosa Hill. The Carcosa Hill was a property of Great Britain and was the home of the high commissioners of Malaysia. The hill became a property of Britain after the Malaysian independence when the first Malaysian Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, gave the hills to Britain as a sign of good faith. However, the two ministers failed to convince the outspoken and strong Prime Minister to reverse his policy.

When her envoys failed in resolving the issue, the Iron Lady decided to take the matter on to her hands. She invited Mahathir to visit London and meet her in March 1983. The meeting of the British strong lady and the Malaysian strong man resulted in resolution of the tensions. Both leaders earned the respect of the other. Afterwards, Mahathir announced in London, as he returned to Kuala Lumpur, the policies would be reversed. The issue of tuition fees was resolved with the British government’s decision to create $160 million fund to aid Malaysian students in Britain. In May 1984, the British decided to return the Carcosa Hill to Malaysia, and in turn, Mahathir offered a new site. By April 1985, Margaret Thatcher’s visit to Malaysia cemented the return of good relations between the countries. The good relations were even further strengthened when Mahathir attended the 1985 CHOGM meeting. To the surprise of many, he offered Malaysia to chair the 1989 CHOGM which Malaysia did lavishly, and bid for the 1998 Commonwealth Games, which again, Malaysia hosted. The Buy British Last Policy ended in 1983 but again would return in 1990 as a result of the seeming good relations between Great Britain and Malaysia.

Pemilihan PKR setakat ini menyaksikan penyandang Timbalan Presiden PKR Azmin Ali mendahului dua lagi pencabarnya Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim dan Datuk Saifuddin Nasution.

Nurul Izzah mendapat 5,610 undian, Rafizi Ramli (5,018) dan Tian Chua (4,833).

Persaingan ketua Pemuda rapat

Mereka diikuti rapat oleh tiga lagi calon yang dilihat bergabung dalam kumpulan Azmin, iaitu, Baru Bian (4,417), Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin (3,491) dan Xavier Jayakumar (3,410 undi) dan Lee Chin Cheh (2,330 undi).

Mustafa Kamil Ayub, regu Khalid dan bekas naib presiden, pula memperoleh 2,040 undi diekori Fuziah Salleh (2,004) dan Yahya Shaari (1,027).

Sementara itu, persaingan bagi kerusi Ketua Pemuda PKR pula menyaksikan persaingan sengit apabila ketiga-tiga calon bertanding mengumpul undian hampir sama banyak.

ADUN Batu Caves Amiruddin Shaari mendapat 777 undi, mendahului pesaing terdekat Timbalan Speaker Selangor Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (739) dan aktivis antirasuah Nazree Yunus (720).

Jawatan Ketua Wanita pula menyaksikan penyandangnya Zuraida Kamaruddin mendahului dengan 1,789 undi, diikuti exco Selangor Rodziah Ismail dengan 1,106 undi setakat ini.

Pengundian PKR bermula 25 April lalu dan akan berlangsung secara berperingkat mengikut negeri sehingga 11 Mei depan.

Seramai 496,923 dari sejumlah 500,001 ahli parti itu layak mengundi. Kesemua jawatan tertinggi parti ditandingi kecuali Presiden Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Ismail yang menang tanpa bertanding.

Pada pemilihan kelmarin, Rafizi yang juga penyandang sejak 2010 ditentang Mohd Ramlee selaku ahli biasa, manakala Sheng Lim, bekas naib ketua cabang Kemaman bertanding jawatan itu buat kali pertama.

"Kejadian ini amat memalukan kerana ia dimulakan oleh pemimpin PKR sendiri. Kalau pemimpin sendiri menunjukkan contoh tidak baik begini, bagaimana parti ini mampu menjadi parti yang baik untuk rakyat.

“Disebabkan masalah ini, pemilihan terpaksa ditangguhkan pada 10 Mei nanti. Kami amat berharap supaya Jawatankuasa Pemilihan Parti (JPP) tidak melakukan pengundian semula bagi mereka yang sudah mengundi, sebaliknya hanya menyambung kembali proses pemilihan kepada ahli yang belum menunaikan tanggungjawab mereka,” katanya.

Sumber dalaman PKR yang enggan namanya disiarkan berkata, Mohd Ramlee menjadi saingan hebat Rafizi yang dilihat sebagai calon tidak disenangi rakyat dan didakwa hanya pandai berkata-kata, tetapi tidak pernah turun padang dan cakna masalah rakyat

Australia women sued over 'semen' in bottled water

An Australian woman is suing a deli after drinking bottled water that allegedly contained semen, lawyers said Friday, with claims that DNA showed it matched the owner of the business.

Alicia Cooper has filed a writ of summons in the District Court of Western Australia against the owner, who no longer runs the business, according to media reports that were confirmed by Slater and Gordon, the legal firm representing Cooper.

Among its accusations the writ states the owner knowingly placed the sperm in the bottled water and allowed its sale.

"Instantly I knew something was not right, I just knew," Cooper, who is seeking damages and medical expenses for the stress and depression suffered from drinking the water, told Fairfax Media.

"You don't think anything like this would happen to you. It was just so hurtful. It's been so humiliating," she added.

After Cooper lodged a complaint about the water with the health department in the city of Stirling, a sample was collected for testing and the results revealed it contained spermatozoa, the Fairfax report said.

A DNA sample was taken from the owner and testing confirmed his sample was a profile match for the sperm in the water.

Lawyers said the civil action was lodged after no criminal charges were laid. Fairfax quoted West Australian police as saying their legal advice was that "this incident, although serious, did not constitute a criminal offence".

So far only 3 state weekend holiday on Friday-Satuday - Kedah, Kelantan & Terengganu (rumor Johor might implement it soon), other state all Saturday-Sunday

Even need to sembahyang jumaat i still prefer to work on friday, lunch hour 2 hour and go back 1 hour early cuti saturday-sunday
