Seeking recommendation for Monitor around RM500

I am currently looking for a new monitor to replace my old monitor. I am currently using Nvidia GTX970 as my GPU and I am hoping to get a good monitor which I could use for gaming and browsing. I set a budget around RM500 for it (give and take RM 100) and the size I am looking for is around 24". Any recommendation is appreciated and I do hope to get some input on the monitor recommended.

Currently, I had a list of monitors which fit the price list but I do not know which is bang for buck or better. Price are from Lazada or 11th Street.

1. BenQ GL2460 24' FHD - RM 429
2. BenQ GW2470H 23.8'' - RM 499
3. BenQ EW2440ZH 23.8'' - RM 529
4. ViewSonic VX2363Smhl 23" AH-IPS - RM 559
5. Dell S2417HG 24" FHD TN - RM 549
6. VIEWSONIC VA2419-SH-E1 24" IPS - RM 509
7. VIEWSONIC VA2465S - RM 529
Looking for Portable Scanners

I am looking for portable scanner to scan books and also to perform OCR. I would like recommendation from anyone who had experience in doing book scanning etc.

A few criteria that I require are:
1) Ease of use
2) It comes with software which ease OCR, copy and paste, etc
3) Able to scan slightly uneven surface properly without much distortion of image.

Well, I had use before various type of scanners like the flatbed scanner and Portable Scanner such as MagicWand.

Flatbed scanners are very slow when comes to scanning (not sure about new models). If pictures are not place properly, it will cause a lot of distortion, colour and lighting differences, images from the next pages overlap with the image you are scanning and tilted image when not place properly. While there are ways to fix those images, I find them time consuming and irritating.

Portable scanner are about the same. While they had rollers, I find it hard to make sure they roll properly (Images might tilt slightly when rolling). Some books had slightly uneven surfaces which I find very hard to scan.

I noticed there are some companies selling Scanner Mouse which looks good. Zscan, IRIScan, LG, Brookestone and a few more brands are available. I am currently considering on LG models LMS-150 but I found that no Malaysia online sellers are selling this product. Anyone has experience using these scanner mouse? Mind sharing your input on this subject and what would be your recommendation? I preferred a branded one like LG. I also have seen IRIScan on youtube but haven't seen Brookestone, Zscan and other fews.

GPU making noise

Few months back, my GPU- Leadtek GTX970 Hurricane started making noise. The sound is quite loud. Sometimes, the GPU turn silent again. Few weeks later, it might return for a few days and then went silent again. The sound is still loud even when when I left my pc idling. Lately, when it happened again, I recheck the GPU when it started making the noise, I noticed that one of the fan was not spinning or spinning very slowly and another fan spinning at full speed. Does it mean that the unit is faulty and I have to sent it back for warranty? or is it a common issue in GPU?

Downloads Corrupted

Hello, hope anyone could help with some issues that I happened to encounter few months back.

I seemed to have problems downloading files properly few months back. If I download any RAR or compressed files, they seemed to always get corrupted. I used program my JDownloader and Mipony to download. Prior to this, these program seemed to work fine. No files corruption. However, the last 6 months, it seemed that any files I downloaded using these program will be corrupted. Downloading using Firefox or Google Chrome seemed to be fine. Well, not always but chances of files getting corrupted seemed much much lower (Some files seemed to stopped downloading after a while). I did reinstalling of those programs but problem persisted. I also tried reinstalling drivers multiple times and recheck router setting but it still persisted. So, anyone can give any insight as to what might causes such issues and soultions if there is.

OS system: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Router : Innacomm W3400V (main), TP-link TD-W8950ND (replaced the main to test issue)
Wireless : TP-Link TL-WN881ND (main), TP-Link TL-WN727N (used for testing)
ISP : TMNet (Streamyx)

External Hard Disk I/O device Error

Currently, my WD My Book Essential 2TB hard drive is suffering from I/O Device Error. It always display Hard Drive requires reformat and the drive is not accessible. I cannot access any of my files, the reformatting failed (all the time) and I couldnt detect this drive with recovery programs like Icare Recovery Program. Even when the hard disk is detected by windows, other program like DiskCheck, CrystalDiskInfo, WD Lifeguard and EaseUS data recovery could not detect the drive. I am hoping someone with enough experience to fix this problem could help me. As long as I can get to read the disk just for me to get the data out will do. Then, I will send it back for warranty.

I don't mind spending if someone can help me make the drive work for a moment just for me to get all my data out of it. Thanks in Advance.

Msi 620 DX BSOD Probably Graphic card issue

I have a Msi GE-620DX which I bought 1 and a half year ago. After the first year in service, my laptop gone down and was sent to service centre where they replaced my motherboard, fan and GPU.

After 4 months back to my hand, now I had issues with BSOD with is appearing quite often when I used it for gaming. Sometimes randomly happen when I am not aware of it.

Here is the specs:
Windows 7 Professional
• The i7-2670 QM
• NVIDIA® GeForce GT555M 2 GB DDRR3
• 8GB RAM
• 750GB HD space

The BSOD appeared quite frequently especially when gaming. Messages such as Memory management, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL have appeared before. At first I am not sure what is the cause, but somehow it gave me 2 indicators which I believe to be related to GPU malfunctioning. I am still not sure, so I need help in finding out the cause.

1. In Device manager, the display device will name my GPU as GT 635. However, in Nvidia Control Panel it will display as GT 555M.
2. After my reformatted my hard disk and restore factory setting by using Msi Recovery Manager, during the test video performance section done by windows, the whole laptop crashed again. It goes into another BSOD which usually carry the message IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

Is there any solution to this problem? or do you guys need to have a look at my Blue Sreen log? I am at a lost, if possible I dont want to resent this laptop back to factory, it takes 2 months just to get a warranty.... Besides, I dont dare touch anything due to warranty issue.

Thanks in advance if you could help me resolve the issues.

Netbook hard disk failure?

I have a HP Netbook. Recently, there is a failure in booting up into Windows 7. It gave me a BSOD with warning of Unmountable Boot Volume. I was not able to enter the Windows through Safe Mode, Recently Best Configuration and so on. I tried to use Startup Repair but it was not successful. It took me 7/8 hours of time and the startup repair is still running, seems like there is no end to it.

Before that, I also make a diskcheck and diagnostic test. Diskcheck through command prompt dskchk C: r/ did not give me any error. However, diagnostic test through HP System Test show that my hard disk encountered Short DST failure. As far as I understand, it means that the Hard Disk is failing and I need to replace the hard disk. Yet, I have some documents in the Netbook which I wish to retrieve.

I decided to send this Netbook to a shop hoping to backup my data, but they said the Windows is corrupted and impossible to back up the data unless I go through the experts for Data Recovery. haha... now I am confused, is it Windows corrupted or Hard Disk Failure???

My main question here would be:
1) Am I able to copy out the data from my Netbook HD by connecting it to a desktop? Is it possible since my HD is not dead yet. If yes, what do I need and how to set up the devices?

2) Is there any other methods that could give me a chance of getting the data (be it copy and paste, back up or making images) to get those data?

I would prefer to stay away from the solution "sending to experts to recover your data" since the charges is sky high (RM 150-350 from those few guy I asked) and they can only promise a 50-50 chance. Sucks right?

unknown characters in filename

Well, there has been times when I downloaded some files from foreign websites and I encounter weird naming that cannot be read by the computer. Although I know that some names will reappear as the correct original name once you change the unicode, but once a while I can't seem to find the correct unicode. Below is one of the named file which happens to come from Japan, but I was not able to read it even after changing the unicode to Japanese and upgrading the language pack (I 'm using Win 7 Ultimate).

Example:
A) ƒCƒ“ƒXƒg[ƒ‹ƒtƒ@ƒCƒ‹isetup.exe‚ðŽÀs‚µ‚Ä‚‚¾‚³‚¢j

This has cause some problem during installation where the installer would not work. I would like to ask if anyone has a solution to check what unicode that can be used to enable the name to appear in its original form or any program which can do so. Thanks for your help in advance.

Files corrupted

I had a problem whereby my files especially RAR files are easily subjected to errors. Usually after download, I inspect the files to make sure none are corrupted but after a while (maybe after 1 day or more) the files appeared to be corrupted again. Even files that are transfered are subjected to contain error even when the main source file are not. To make sure that files are copied correctly, i used sha-1 hask check system since crc-32 is not very reliable. So, is there any reason why the files always get corrupted? How may I fix it?

Partitioning hard disk w/o lossing data

hi. I bought a external hard disk (WD home edition) 1 TB a few month ago. I found that the format of the ext hard disk was FAT32. I was wondering if anyone has ways of partitioning the hard disk into NTFS system without reformatting or losing information. or perhaps convert the whole Ext hard disk into NTFS without changing or corrupting the datas? I wasn't able to do any backup for those files since I can't afford to get a new hard disk for back up.

Weird problem

Hi. This is my first post here. I have met a very odd trouble with my desktop.

My desktop general specs:
2.8 Ghz Pentium D
1.5 Gb DDR 2
Window XP home edition SP3 (originally)
Intel Graphic Accelerator 9000
80 GB HD (2 partition - approx 35 GB & 45 GB)

This com is just used for surfing and simple gaming. But few days ago, I encountered a weird problem which I wasn't able to settle even with a bit of com knowledge.

I would like anyone who can help me to provide me a solution.

Problems:
1. The whole system of hard disk (be it partition or external hard disk or pen drive) when right click will have an option of "open with SAFE mode". This is not something nice and it is kinda of lagging my system when I tried to open the drive. I am not even sure where u might disable it.

2. The system (anything from commands, administrative tools) are not accessible. Whenever I open them, they open a notepad with weird writings. (one readable sentence is "can't open with DOS"). I lost total control of these important process.

3. The admin has been disabled. I can't access any task manager thru safe mode or normal. They always written something like "disabled by admin". I tried to reset the admin or create a new account with admin power but I can't do anything.

4. Finally, getting frust. I tried to reinstalled the XP home to XP Prof. But no matter how I installed I can't removed those problem above. I already done 2 reinstallation but the problem is still there. It also accidentally affected my WD's external HD. If there are anything that might be able to solve my problems, please do help. (don't ask me to toss my com, I still fond of it) Thanks.
