veggie oil car. need help!

hi there!

I need some help regarding this issue. I'm a student at sunway and we are planning to do an awareness project for the environment. one of our idea is to use vegetable oil to run a car.

it has been done in the USA, we are planning to do something similar.
http://www.thebiggreenbus.org/

but they're using a bus, we don't need something that big. maybe a kancil or normal proton will do.

our plan is to drive from sunway college all the way to singapore with several stops in between. we might stop at various schools to provide some awareness activities about the environment.

some students also suggest that we collaborate with mcdonald and kfc to donate their used vegie oil. we can then filter it and use it. (for publicity purposes)

money is not an issue( as long as it is within reasonable range), coz we will be collaborating with corporations. it is part of our marketing and corporate social responsibility project. it is our job to raise the funds.

but we can't raise funds yet coz we do not know what we need yet.

I need advice on where we should start or where we should be looking at.(regarding the car, engine and oil.)

let's say that we will be able to raise the funds, what kind of modification do we need to make on the cars? i read in google that we would need a heating tank to keep the oil heated and also some kind of filtration system to prevent the ignition from clogging. where can we do this in malaysia?(more specifically, sunway?) can any car mechanics do these modifications for us? how much will it cost?

my main question is this, is it even possible to drive from here to singapore on just veggie oil? i read in another lowyat post that it is possible to drive from kuantan to kl and back on just veggie oil. here's the link
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/930931/all

thanks in advanced!

big 4 or MNC?

hi there,

just wanna know more about working life after i've completed with my ACCA.

I've only just started with ACCA. i know it's still too early to ask all these, but i'd like to get some perspective about the nature of the job.

after i've completed with ACCA, is it better to go for MNC of big 4? in terms of starting salary? i heard big 4 is about 2.8 k. but what about MNC?

coz i heard big 4 dun pay that well. i'm not so sure that's y i wanna know.

what about salary increment and promotion? which provide better training that grooms you to become cfo or ceo?

i read in an article about how Tony Fernandes started his Air Asia company. one of his top 10 list is to hire a good accountant. what kind of accountant is he talking about? how do we become one of those?

and what about opening up your own accounting firm? any idea about the profit?

i apologize for asking all these questions. but i really do not know who else to ask. most of the people i ask are students or lecturers. they will give contradictory info. i have not met any real accountant yet. so wanna know more about it.

how can an accountant become rich? shud they start thier own firm or move up the corporate ladder? if join company, then which is better, MNC or big 4. i really dun mind the OT and workload, but i jus dun like being exploited. i heard big 4 dun pay that well in terms of per hour pay.( this i read from other forumer as well)

oh yea, forgot to mention that i'm actually kinda old now. i'm 21 and i've just started. i'll probably complete it at about 24. will that be too old? the reason being that i studied some wrong course previosly and did not finish it. coz now i compare my self with other students i feel like i'm gonna lose out to these younger students.

here's a little bit about my education. i scored straight A1's for my SPM and was awarded as top 50 student in malaysia. i scored 3 A's in biology, chem n maths. i got a medal from london for scoring full marks.

initially i was given a scholarship to study engineering and then to study pharmacy. i left half way coz of some problem. that's why i'm kinda old now just starting with ACCA. kinda regreted that action of mine.

i did joined societies and initiated some projects in the past. i was even awarded for some of my projects. but i kinda slowed down now coz wanna focus on studies. coz accounting is kinda new to me. will all this help with me getting a job?

will my change in education course affect my chances. coz i was told that i might lose out to other younger applicants. i thought of countering it by scoruing really good marks. in ACCA there's this world prize award. if you get highest mark in the world, you'll be awarded. i plan to aim for that. but does it really matter? what do MNC really looked at when they hire?

thanks

how to organise extreme activities in uni?

As mentioned in the title, is it possible for a mere student to organise activities that require huge fundings? like everest expedition? north pole or south?

No idea why such extreme activities.

my college friends and i were just discussing random uni-life-topics and this odd topic just pop up in the conversation.

is it actually doeble?
feasible?
how to get fundings?i check online and it requires bout 50k us dollar per person for pole expedition.not sure bout everest yet.

and the most important question is, why do it? i just can't seem to grasp the idea of doing it. it would be great if i can try. but what motivates ppl in the first place?

to build character? living everyday or just surviving in the real life is chalenging enough. and it definitely builds more character than just braving through cold winds in the middle of no where.

does it help someone study better or increase the chances of being emplyoed? or is it just another holiday trip disguised under the illusion of doing something good for humanity as a means of marketing to get more fundings?

so any inputs? anyone organise such activity before? it's gonna be great if someone can convince a skeptic like me to do such extreme activity.

obviously it lingers in everyones mind once in a while to do something crazy, but we usually brush it off as mere caffein-induced-fantasy.

since i am still young, maybe.. just maybe i'll give it a second thought. haha

share your thoughts or ideas.
