Maxis mobile 3G data access suddenly activate?

I don't know what happened really. Using a Galaxy Note I bought on my own (no carrier). This morning when I woke up and still kinda blur I saw I had a new MMS from Maxis. Opened the thing by accident, didn't bother to look and deleted it. Next thing I know emails are suddenly coming in, which should not be happening. Minor freak out, try to terminate 3G, cannot, had to use airplane mode to kill it. Maxis sends message with instructions on configuring WAP access. I do not recall wanting or agreeing to access WAP, so why is this happening? And how do I cancel it?

Need help with CD image in PowerISO virtual drive

Someone gave me an ISO rip of some hybrid SACD-DSDs. I've tried mounting the ISO image in a virtual drive H:\ with PowerISO, but when I try the "open CD" option in foobar2000, foobar doesn't seem to realise there's a virtual CD drive at all! Can anyone help?

WTA auto update Firefox nightly builds

Hi. I'm thinking of trying out and testing the nightly builds for Firefox, and so I want to know-- is there any way to autoupdate an installed nightly build on Windows? Of course I can do it manually, but installing a new installer every night can be a PITA and I'm a lazy person. Even if it's a good excuse to switch over completely to Linux since I know there is a way on Linux, but can't find any for Windows.

Using Gmail, and would like to be able to see full message headers by default when I open my mail, and not have to click on that full headers button to do so. Is there any way to do so?

Dell Quickset necessary?

About to start nuking harddrives, so last minute question: I'm on a Dell Inspiron 1420, and it came with the Dell QuickSet program. Now when installing Windows 7, can I live without it, or had I better go find some version of it? I don't know if not having the QuickSet thing around will f*ck things up or not. Advice?

Litestep with Windows 7/Vista

Been looking into desktop customisation since Rainmeter whetted my appetite for pretty desktops, and am looking into LiteStep on Win 7/Vista. Last I heard was that Vista support is still rather experimental, so I thought I'd ask in here first whether it supports and works well with Win 7 and Vista now before I try and end up with disaster. Any pros here used it under Win 7 and managed ok? I am still a n00b at this sorta thing, just trying to get the hang of Rainmeter coding right now.

Best IRC client for WIndows 7 besides mIRC?

Anyone here use other IRC clients besides mIRC? Looking for a good freeware client that's not chatzilla. How's HydraIRC work? Or X-Chat 2 under Win7? My current mIRC install on Vista seems to have locked me out or something; I can connect but when I try and receive a file, instant crash and lockout. Looking for alternatives now.

To UAC or not to UAC?

Still on Vista, making the switch to Win7 in a week or two. I know Win7's UAC is supposed to be less restrictive compared to Vista, but since I've gotten along just fine without UAC so far in Vista within the year or so I've had my lappy, is there any reason why I should leave UAC enabled in Windows 7?

Windows 7 dualboot with Linux question

Currently I'm running my laptop as a dualboot setup, Win Vista 32-bit with Mepis Linux 32-bit. Vista and Mepis are on different partitions; Vista on a primary partition (drive C:\) and Mepis is on a separate logical partition. Now I want to move to Windows 7 Pro x64; I know I have to custom install Win7 which means that I have to wipe my C:\ but can wiping that partition affect my Linux system partition in any way besides not being able to boot into Linux, since the boot function is being controlled by Vista bootloader? It can't right?

Also after I install Win7 x64, is there an easy way to edit my bootloader so it will load Mepis Linux as well? I used EasyBCD when I first setup my dualboot system, but not sure if the stable version will work fine on Win 7... Can sifus please advise?

Best program for ripping CDs?

I've been attempting to re-rip my library-- the good CDs I can track down that is-- into FLAC files for archival and listening purposes, noobie audiophile that I am trying to fix her collection. Now I'm thinking about accuracy of the rips and all. Currently using foobar2k to rip and encode, no ReplayGain setting or anything, no EQ, just rip and encode. Is that acceptable quality rip practice, or should I move to something else like EAC? I've tried using EAC, but gave up and uninstalled before actually getting any use from it because it wouldn't recognise any CD I put into my laptop's DVD-RW drive. (Before you ask: that's the only drive I have access to. House desktop might've been a better bet, but it's so slow and outdated trying to rip anything will probably take a whole night.)

So what programs do you all use for good quality accurate rips? What works well, with minimum fuss and decent speed? I have 4GB of RAM and 2.5GHz processor, so ripping and encoding are still pretty fast no matter what...
