MBSA Jawab Isu Jalan Perkauman

PETALING JAYA: Status kewujudan nama jalan bersifat perkauman di Shah Alam yang tular sejak petang Rabu didedahkan oleh Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA).

Nama jalan tersebut bukan sahaja menimbulkan pelbagai reaksi netizen, malah MBSA turut terpalit dengan kontroversi itu.

Timbalan Pengarah Korporat, Shahrin Ahmad berkata, pihaknya menafikan tentang perkara itu dan terus membuat tinjauan ke jalan yang dimaksudkan pada Rabu sejurus mendapat tahu ia didaftarkan pada aplikasi navigasi peta Google dan Waze.

"Pihak kami sudah melawat jalan itu dan nama jalan yang dikatakan itu tidak wujud.

"Sebenarnya tiada nama pun pada jalan itu kerana ia jalan kampung," jelasnya ketika dihubungi mStar pada Khamis.
Tambah Shahrin, pihak MBSA mendaftarkan nama jalan berdasarkan nama-nama buah, bunga, sungai, alat muzik, pekerjaan dan bahan logam.

Katanya, nama jalan yang berhampiran dengan lokasi jalan tersebut pula diambil bersempena nama sungai.

Kontroversi mengenai nama jalan itu mula hangat diperkatakan setelah ia mula-mula dikongsikan di beberapa laman forum sebelum tersebar di Facebook.

Segelintir pengguna Facebook bertindak menyelar tindakan kerajaan negeri yang dianggap sengaja mencetuskan isu perkauman.

Pengguna Facebook, Chander Gk berkata: "Kami sudah dimalukan oleh kerajaan negeri sekarang yang menamakan nama jalan ini. Sila Google dan lihat sendiri, kawan-kawan serta jangan lupa untuk berkongsi mengenai perkara ini."

Seorang lagi pengguna, Mak Khuin Weng pula berkata, dia tidak percaya tentang perkara tersebut sekiranya tidak membuat carian di Google dengan sendiri.

"Nampaknya terdapat posting yang sedang trending dalam talian tentang nama sebatang jalan. Saya temui jalan ini terletak di Shah Alam.

"Secara jujurnya saya tertanya-tanya apa yang difikirkan oleh pegawai kerajaan ketika menamakan jalan ini," tulis lelaki itu.
