Hi there.

I would like to know how to get the first issue date of my P driving license. I do not have the P driving license on me as it was replaced when I got my full driving license.

I need the first issue date to apply for an overseas driving license. I am not in Malaysia at the moment.

Thanks!

iPhone 5 Automatically Did a Factory Reset

Hello,

My iPhone 5 automatically did a factory reset (cleared everything). I hit the unlock button (top-right corner) and was presented with the first-time start-up screen. I later discovered that I lost everything I have done after my last back-up date, including purchased apps, photos, etc.

What can I do? Is there nothing I can do?

It just so happens that I am currently on a vacation, and yes I lost all my vacation pictures (250+ of them).

Sending a Document from Malaysia to Australia

Hello everyone.

I need to send an important document from Malaysia to Australia as fast as possible and as safe as possible. I need this document before 7th December, if at all possible. It is also an extremely important document, so safety is of equal importance with speed of delivery.

What are the options available to me if cost is not an issue?

Also, please share your experience sending items overseas.

Thank you!

Why Study in Australia?

I've got a question for people studying (or about to study) in Australia, why choose to study in Australia and pay the exorbitant [international] tuition fees?

How do you justify the money spent to get an Australian degree (~RM95k/year for most degrees, exclusive of living expenses)?

Imagine spending ~RM300k to get a Bachelor of Science (assuming it's a 3-year degree), and that's not including living expenses. Is it really worth it?

Maybe it's a good deal if you can eventually migrate and stay in Australia permanently (provided you like Australia). But what if you failed to secure a PR visa and are forced to come back to Malaysia? You'd be looking at a few years minimum before you "earn back" - not pay back, just "earn" that amount back - the money for your education.

If you come from a wealthy family and you just have to get an overseas degree no matter what, then I guess it's a different story.

So again, why Australia? I am truly interested in knowing how people justify their education in Australia and why people like to go to Australia.

Choosing a Degree: Interest VS Money

Hello everyone.

There comes a time for most people when you have to choose which degree to pursue. Deciding which degree to pursue might be easy for some, but it can be difficult for others due to a variety of reasons.

Why did you decide to pursue your degree? Was it because of purely out of interest? The promise of a better lifestyle, i.e. money? Peer and family pressure? Or was it a combination of various factors?

For those that are still undecided, what do you consider when trying to decide which degree to pursue?

Choosing a degree for the money seems to be the logical choice here, unless your interest overlaps with fields that are thought to be lucrative.

But will working in a field of non-interest for the money eventually burn you out?

Putting food on the table is very important, so will the drive to survive outlast or overwhelm the feelings of working in an area of non/minimal-interest?

My time has come for me to decide which path to take. I am having some problems deciding what to pursue, therefore I opened this thread to gather ideas and thoughts.

Let the discussion and flowing of ideas and thoughts, begin!

Need Advice Pertaining to My Path After A-Levels

Warning! You are about to read a thread which contains controversial content. Be advised, do not involve your emotions when reading and if you wish to participate in the discussion, please participate constructively.

Hi everyone.

On 13th August, CIE A-Level results were released.

I took 4 subjects, Biology, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, scoring AAAB respectively.

Now here's my situation.

I have absolutely no idea what degree should I pursue. My interest lies in business, but I feel studying business is a waste of time and money. I also hate science. Stuff I studied in college for A-Levels cannot be applied to real life.

Initially, I wanted to just stop my education at A-Levels and never enter a university. I wanted to take the money for university and start a business. But I realize it is not an ideal pathway to take. What if my business fails and I lose all the money? I would be broke and without a "safety net" (referring to a degree) to put food on the table. Therefore, I decided to go to university anyway, just to get a "safety net".

My life, for now, is to get a degree and after that, start building my business. All jobs I hold before building my business will be there only to serve as a source of income to put food on the table and to build my business. I will not hold any position for a prolonged period of time once my business gets up and running. If said business fails, I simply try again until I success. That is the plan.

Now here comes my problem. Like I said, I love business. I read books about business voluntarily. But I hate taking exams and I actually feel studying business in university is a waste of time and money (no offense to business students).

So now I'm here seeking advise or have someone knock some sense into me. Maybe change my mindset or something. With my results right now, I plan to apply for courses like medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, actuarial science, etc. and just enter the course in which I am accepted. After all, I just want to enter university for the sake of entering. I have minimal interest in these science courses though, relative to business. And if I ever enter a science course, I'm not gonna lie, it's for the money.

Am I doing this wrong? Is there a better pathway for me to take?

Singapore VS Australia Universities

Hi everyone.

I've got a question.

In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of studying in Singapore's universities (mainly NUS or NTU) and Australia's universities (mainly Group of 8 universities)?

I ask because right now, I am in kind of a special position.

I was born in Australia but raised in Malaysia. After all these years, I am forced to migrate back to Australia and honestly, I hate it here. But the thing is, Australia's universities are probably thought of as more prestigious than Malaysia's universities. I do not know how true that is as I do not have facts to support the claim, however it really seems as though Australian universities are perceived to be better than Malaysian universities.

Anyway, I want a Malaysian lifestyle AND a good education. So I turned to Singapore's NUS and NTU. High quality education from prestigious universities combined with a very "Malaysian" lifestyle. Best of both worlds.

So back to the question. What are the pros and cons of studying in Singapore and Australia, if money and admission into the universities are assumed to be not an issue?

As per topic title, I want to know if charges are applied for the caller only or for both caller and receiver?

When I used Lebara to call a Maxis number (prepaid), the charges apply only to the Lebara number (caller).

If I use a Lebara number to call a Celcom number (postpaid), is it still the same? Charges applying only to the Lebara number (caller)? Or does it charge both ways, in which case the Celcom number will be charged at RM0.90/minute?

Short version: Lebara calls Celcom from Aus to Msia. Does it charge both sides?

Twinning for Medical Studies

Hello there. I have a few questions about entering twinning courses for medicine in IMU (or maybe other institutes that will end up twinning with Australian universities).

My background:

1. Currently studying A-Levels in Malaysia, taking 4 subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics).

2. Intends to study medicine in Australia.

3. Currently an Australian PR holder, and if necessary, can convert to an Australian citizen (was born there).

My questions:

1. I understand that if I enter twinning courses, then I'll be regarded as an international student when I go to Australia. Could I stay back in Australia and work there if I complete a twinning course?

2. I think I do not need to take any Mata Pelajaran Wajib to complete my twinning course in Australia. I need confirmation about this one.

3. If my ultimate university pathway will be to graduate in an Australian university, either by completing a Malaysia-Australia twinning course or by completing a full course in Australia, then I absolutely do not need to take any Mata Pelajaran Wajib, even if I may come back in the future to practice medicine in Malaysia privately. Again, I need confirmation about this one.

Thanks in advance.

This only happens after some push-ups (maybe about 30) and when that happens, I am unable to continue to perform more push-ups even though I'm still capable.

Is it possible that my push-up position is wrong and that caused a pinched nerve?

Thanks in advance!

Ringing In Ears After Exposure To Loud Sound

Exactly 30 hours ago I went clubbing for the first time in my life.

30 hours later (now), my ears are still ringing.

Should it be a cause of concern?

I've never been exposed to sound levels as high as those in the club though.

Life's True Purpose?

What is life's true purpose?

After entering university, life ends.

You work and study hard, then after you graduate you enter the workforce and still, you have to work long hours until you retire.

In my opinion, I can only find one purpose - to attain a higher spiritual being (assuming there exists a higher realm than our realm).

What are your thoughts about this?

What is your life's true purpose?
