New Distro : Linux Mint~~!

I am a newbie in linux and open source OS...but i stumbled upon this new distro called Linux Mint....it already sounds interesting rite?well....got reviews that it is 98% as same as ubuntu...BUT...with nicer themes, and codec (flash,mp3,dvd,etc) out of the box ...i haven't installed it...but i'm going to do it tonight

why:
better looking than ubuntu
more stable than ubuntu
can install ati/nvidia driver succesfully using envy
all codecs installed out of the box

Graphic is garbled while setting up Ubuntu~~~

this is the 1st time im learning to use linux...but as i was installing ubuntu...my graphic is garbled...cannot see anything....anything im doin wrong?
