Condo quit rent

Starting this year, we have to pay land tax/quit rent on our condo by ourselves.

Unluckily, the government didn't make an easy way to pay.

I went to their website and it was badly designed by amateurs.

I went to Maybank2u and there is no PPTG account to select.

The government didn't handover properly to condo owners. Most people didn't even receive their new account number.

Please help as to how to pay ?

Car alarm problem

I have a car alarm problem on my Toyota which beeps beeps every few minutes although the sound is not as loud as a real alarm.

Whether I ride my car or I park my car, it still beeps. People even thought it is a bomb when I park in my place at night.

I went to Toyota service center in Toyota service center Puchong to repair it.

They said it can't be repaired , I need to buy a new alarm system and it costs more than one thousand ringgit.

I asked them to dismantle the alarm , they said it can't be done. They even dare to charge me rm 35 just to check what the problem is.

As my car is more than ten years old, I don't think anybody would want to steal my car so I just want to dismantle it and save me a lot of money.

Is Toyota service center cheating me by saying it can't be dismantled? Where to complain about Toyota?

Can anybody recommend me a car repair shop where they can dismantle the alarm at a budget price?

Prepaid mobile data for Digi

Does anybody know whether there is any prepaid wifi/mobile for Digi?

I only come back to Malaysia for around two weeks each time, most of the time I am out of Malaysia.

So I only need a low usage (low budget) mobile plan for Digi.

I need wifi/mobile to call grab taxi, that's all.

I've never used Grab taxi before because in the past, I don't have mobile internet on my phone.

Please recommend. Thanks.

Colorectal cancer is caused by eating too much meat and not enough vegetables.

KUALA LUMPUR: Some 708 fines, amounting to RM170,200, have been issued to smokers - including minors - as well as owners of food premises following enforcement of the smoking ban at eateries from Jan 1.

As many as 2,087 Health Ministry enforcement personnel checked 6,119 food premises.

They issued 605 fines, amounting to RM144,450.00, to smokers. These include 34, issued to minors (aged 18 and below).

Another 103 fines amounting to RM25,750.00 were issued to premises owners; 79 notices for failing to display the "no-smoking" sign and 24 notices for offering items which facilitated smoking.

"Those found smoking in eateries were given the RM250 fine and first time offenders can get it lowered to RM150 if the payment is made at any health district office within one month from the date the fine was issued," said Health director-general Datuk Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement Thursday (Jan 2).

For the second offence, no reduction will be given and for the third and subsequent offences, the fine is RM350.

Meanwhile, eatery owners who committed offence for the first or second time are fined RM250, while for third and subsequent offences the fine is RM350.

PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): The high number of deaths among individuals from groups still productive as workers due to smoking is alarming, says Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

Citing the 2015 National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) report by the Health Ministry, he said smoking was recorded as the leading contributor to 20,000 deaths each year.

He said the study also showed 22.8% or five million Malaysians aged 15 years and above are smokers, with those aged 20 to 54 years being the highest smokers, the majority being men.

"This group is still productive and can contribute to the country's economic growth.

"Certainly the loss of productivity due to health problems, including those resulting from the use of tobacco products, is a cause for concern to the government," he said while speaking at the awards ceremony and recognition of the Blue Ribbon Campaign 2019 here Friday (Nov 22).

Dr Dzulkefly said smoking is also a major factor in the risk of heart and pulmonary tract diseases that contribute to 15.7% of the 20,000 deaths recorded.

He said it was alarming that one-third or 2.8 million people in the country who are passive smokers, also suffer negative health effects similar to active smokers.

He said the ban on smoking at all food premises effective January next year was also based on the blue ribbon programme, initiated by 117 public eating outlets voluntarily, banning smoking in their shops in order to protect the interests of customers who do not smoke.

"This shows the strong support of restaurant owners in maintaining the health of Malaysians even though open dining areas have not yet been gazetted," he said.

Airasia support smoking ban in public places

PETALING JAYA: AirAsia will stop selling cigarettes on its flights, says its chief executive officer (CEO) Tan Sri Tony Fernandes (pic).

"I'm super proud to announce that @airasia will stop selling cigarettes on duty-free.

"Coupled with all our offices being smoke-free and incentivising staff to stop smoking with better insurance, we are putting our money where our mouth is.

"I urge all governments in Asean to STOP SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES. Look how much we spend on health-related smoking issues," he said in a series of tweets on Friday (Sept 20).

Effective Jan 1, 2019, a government's smoking ban came into force at all restaurants and stalls regardless of whether the premises are enclosed or open-air.

However, a period of education prior to enforcement was set for six months, meaning the law would not be enforced yet, and the six-month reprieve was later extended to the end of the year.

Come Jan 1, 2020, smokers nabbed in eateries will face a maximum fine of RM10,000 or a jail term not exceeding two years.

Junk food can cause health problems

A teenage boy who subsisted primarily on junk food went blind from his poor diet, according to a new study.

The 17-year-old, who lives in the United Kingdom, first went to the doctor at age 14 complaining of tiredness, the Annals of Internal Medicine wrote in the study abstract published on Sept 3, 2019.

By the time his doctors discovered that nutrition was the probable cause, his vision was irrevocably damaged.

That’s when they discovered a severe vitamin B12 deficiency, low copper and selenium levels, high zinc levels, and “markedly reduced” vitamin D levels and bone mineral density, the researchers said.

He revealed that his diet consisted mainly of Pringles (potato chips), french fries, white bread, and occasionally, some processed meats like ham and sausage.

“Since starting secondary school, the patient had consumed a limited diet of chips, crisps, white bread and some processed pork,” the researchers said.

Airasia fined for charging card fees

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MavCom) fined AIRASIA BHD RM200,000 each for charging credit card, debit card and online banking processing fees separate from their base fares.

MavCom said in a statement on Tuesday the fees charged by the airlines contravened the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code 2016 (MACPC).

It said MACPC came into effect on July 1,2016, and was published in line with MavCom's aim to protect the rights and interests of consumers.
