Suggestion for Java Camp activities

Hello,
As stated above, I'm from Universiti Teknologi Petronas was entrusted by a club to organize an event called Java Camp. Basically the idea is we will call or hire lecturer to teach Java programming to the participants (for UTP students). However, I think this idea is just too dull. No interesting point accept for the learning the Java programming; lectures talk talk talk talk zzzzz . I want to have a fun during the event such as having an interactive activities such as build java-based games and much more. That will make the events looks cool!

I planned to organize a competition. Students code their program and present it on the day. The winners of course will get some presents.

Only the problem is that I dont have much idea on how to make it more interesting. What is the best part of learning Java?. So can anyone could suggest me what activities should i include on this event so that this event could be as fun as possible? Anyone with past experience of conducting an event like me? I just want to make it interactive. Thats all.

Bluetooth..webcam etc all in perfect condition.
