Stubborn dirts on rims

hello all, would like to seek advise from everyone on how do you clean your complex designed rims, especially those old stubborn dirts which are hard to reach.

[attachmentid=1855262]

i tried using brush but it just doesnt scrub off the stains entirely. tried using sponge, works quite well but it is too tedious and i tend to tear it apart.

i am hoping tat someone can recommend me some kind of liquid detergent which is strong enuff to melt the dirts and can be easily washed away but it will not corrode my rims and metal parts.

RM 100 road tax for cars above 25 years old?

apparently some people said by 2011, JPJ will allow cars above 25 years old to be categorized as classic cars (provided it is still roadworthy) and the road tax will be standardized to RM 100.

if this is really the case, then old Benz lovers will enjoy this. but what about Nissan Sunny, Datsun & other smaller CC cars in that year make? currently they pay only RM 20 or so.

How To Reduce Timing Belt Noise?

would like to seek advice from lowyat forumers on how to minimize the noise from my four-year old Gen.2.

it is very low mileage, though... only about 30,000km.

is it possible for me to spray a bit of WD-40 at the pulley, without risking it to catch fire during the high speed rotation?

or can i even spray at the belt itself? would it damage my car?

Any tips for car collection from workshop?

yo dudes. my car was involved in an accident and now under repair in a JB workshop (Kurnia Insurance panel). i believe my car will be ready for collection somewhere next week.

the workshop kept assuring me that my car will be given original parts as my car is only 9 months old.

i've heard from my friends that i will need to inspect my car inside out, outside in, left right centre and ensure i am really satisfied with the repair, before i sign the release voucher.

problem is, how to tell if the workshop gave me original parts?

also, by signing this release voucher to collect my car, will i be NOT able to hold them responsible if very much later the effects starts to show, like noise during turning, vibration, etc?

would appreciate all constructive inputs as i really need to ensure my baby is really given the best, as claimed by Kurnia and the bloody panel workshop in JB. thanks

Singapore Traffic Light System

i would like to share my experience with everyone in forum lowyat on my traumatic experience in Singapore recently.

On the 30th April 2010 at 8.27am, while i was making a turn from Lower Delta Road into Tiong Bahru Road, a motorcycle rammed into the left side of my Waja CPS.

Fortunately, the rider and the pillion are now discharged from hospital and recuperating & this case is closed by the police.

I am slapped with a SGD 200 summon by the Singapore Police Force because apparently i did not give way to the motorcyclist even though my lane was a green light.

As for my Waja CPS, it is now "warded" into a Johore Bahru workshop.

I find Singapore traffic light system stupid coz the authorities allow both sides to be green simultaneously, but in my case, they are expecting me to be careful enough and slow down before turning right.

BUT INDEED I DID NOT SEE ANY CARS AT ALL FROM THE OPPOSITE BEFORE TURNING. BEFORE I COULD FINISH MY TURNING, THE DAMN BIKE RAMMED INTO ME!

malaysian system is better in such a way that it only allows one side to be green at any one time.

whatever it is..... Moral of this lesson; LOOK EVERYWHERE WHILE DRIVING, ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING A TURNING. DO NOT RACE THRU A TRAFFIC LIGHT EVEN THOUGH IT IS GREEN. AND STAY AWAY FROM MOTORBIKES![attachmentid=1575112][attachmentid=1575113][attachmentid=1575114][attachmentid=1575115][attachmentid=1575117]

What Would It Be After "WYY 9999" ?

i noticed that in recent years, our car registration numbers on the road are moving at a very accelerating rate. it was only in july 2009 that i got myself a "WST ****". now, it's only april, and i already saw "WTU ****".

that got me wondering, by middle of this year, we will enter "WUA ****", then eventually we will come to "WYY 9999" (which i believe will be a very very valuable number, becoz this is the last of the three-alphabet car number plate).

so what's after that? logically speaking it will be "WAAA ****". but it's so weird-looking. and there are some cars which the car number plate area is so small.

would like to hear from you guys.

Grounding Cable for Waja CPS

Hi guys, i recently came across many forums on the voltage stabilizer & grounding cable for improved engine performance, better Fuel consumption and longer lasting electronic parts.

I don't intend to install the VS just as yet coz no money ler but i am very tempted to hook the five point grounding cable kit. however, my biggest concern is, will this five point grounding cable void my Proton 5-year warranty for my engine? as it is, i am faithfully returning to Proton Service centre for my 5,000km interval servicing.

Please advise me.

guys, want to check with you all on few items on the Proton Edar Authorized Service Centre in Taman Mayang Jaya, PJ:

i) any Proton owners send their cars there before? is the workmanship & service reliable?

ii) i will be sending my Waja CPS for 10,000 km service soon. I bought mine from Mutiara D'sara. will the authorized SC in Tmn Mayang Jaya cover my 10,000km service with free labour? or i must send the car back to Mutiara D'sara in order to get the free labour 10,000km service?

my concern is, coz Proton has stated that the gearbox and engine will only be under warranty for five years if i send the car back to authorized Proton Edar SCs for regular servicing. I dislike sending to Mutiara D'sara coz i can't get to see them servicing my car in front of me. i prefer to see the mechanic doing their stuffs to my car, IN FRONT OF ME (paranoid la. scared they sabotage the fully synthetic oil which i bring myself with some used mineral oil, no syok la)

please advise me. i am most delighted to listen from everyone. my location is in Kelana Jaya.
