hi guys... i will be heading to Manchester for my postgrad studies...

just want to ask if there is anyone in this forum taking MSc Structural Engineering as well ?

btw, any PAST or CURRENT students in Structural Engineering course because i heard that the reference books are quite expensive there and my lecturers havent reply me of the books that they will be using...

so now wanna see what books PAST (1-2 years) and current students are using so i can get it from MPH ...

p/s: hehe..well i do support original so dont ask me photostat there..

sorry to start off a new topic here just a quick question... doesnt really matter about which brand

for processor
now mostly are P8600-P8700

do i need to go for P9600/T9550 or P9700

for ram
does 4gb DDR2 and 4gb DDR3 really make any difference?

for graphic
my option are ATI 4330, ATI 4530, nvidia 9500m GE

if i go higher/better graphic, i think i also need to pair up with a decent processor right in order to make full use of the graphic?

for screen resolution
720p (1366 x 768)
720p (1600 x 900)
HD 1280 x 800
HD 1366 x 768

for cd rom
get normal DVD rom
or get bluray rom ?

battery

6 cell and 9 cell really last longer ?
average watching movie can last how long ?

extracting winrar files

i'm using Window Vista.... and i believe i already download the chinese language files...

the problem is i'm having problem extracting win zip/rar files with password containing chinese characters...

anyone have this kind of experience?

games i will play will be more like crysis + NFS pro street + Call of duty 4 hehe.. sometimes still CSS+DOTA

i dont know how to overclock

1. STATE your budget = RM4000 (not include monitor)
2. STATE the parts that you wish to re-use = Hard disk, speakers
3. STATE your purpose = Surfing Internet, Watch videos, Downloading, Computer gaming
- 3a. If computer gaming = CSS, DotA, DoD:S, COD4
- 3b. State the monitor you're using and also gaming preference = I can play at mid detail not too low coz spoil the quality
4. STATE your intended purchase date = i'm from Sarawak will be going to KL on 25th Jan, plan to get those stuff in Lowyat plaza OR bulk orders/garage sales (COD)

Casing : saw my friend using Antec 900, looks quite special but check review not good..actually doesnt really matter cheap one can do
Motherboard : too many types not sure which one suit my setup
Graphics : just for normal gaming like CSS / warcraft
Monitor : 22"
Power Supply : good enough like 600watt true power so next time i upgrade components, PSU still can stand it

for RAM, if i get 1066mhz any big difference?? i saw somewhere about x32 cannot support 4gb ram??
I know Optical drive is require, but how bout floppy drive ??
Mouse + keyboard any better one? i dont really know much bout performance juz want those looks nice but not lauzy brand hehe
anything i miss out which is require to setup a computer? i dont need sound card coz i'm using altec lansing vs4121, i think its very good enough to use on-board sc

everything i know before bout computers is the more expensive the better, end up wasting money realize i don really need that good or high end so i limit myself to RM4000 first... hehe depends hope to get the price and shops so easier for me to shop when i reach KL.. of coz i will check trade zones for cheaper deal ^ ^

How to check the files name and size

dir /b /o:n > list.txt

save as .bat file, put inside the folder you want, run it
it will list the content of that folder and saves it inside list.txt

dir /b /o:n /s > list.txt

this one will also lists out files inside subfolder

above methods is used to get the list of file names of a folder..

wat i want is include the size ... is it possible?? anyone here know how to do it?

How to split winrar..

i try to upload a file which is over 100mb... but the upload site only allow max 100mb per file

i saw some of them spilt the file achieve into half then can upload le..

like 150mb , they split into two part.. 75mb each .. but when extract must download both in order to extract..

does anyone know how to do it... thanks
