龙家电城的街道边,两名青年男子骑着摩托车在寻找抢劫的目标,在选准抢劫目标后,悄悄地向一提包女子背后靠近,随即车后座一男子一把夺走女子手上的LV包。提包女子惊慌中一边追赶一边呼叫。此时,周边群众、保安自发地纷纷赶来,往劫匪逃窜方向冲去。在众多市民的围追堵截下,劫匪没办法只能掉头,慌乱之下一头撞上了路边停靠的汽车。摔下摩托车的两名歹徒,一名拼命想重新扶起车子逃跑,另一名则抽出一把长约50公分的马刀,胡乱挥舞,妄图吓唬住追过来的群众和协警,掩护另一名歹徒重新发动摩托,但围上来的协警群众不畏危险,分别拿起身边的扫把、纸箱、塑料凳、长棍等工具团团将两名歹徒围住。两名歹徒眼看无处可逃,一个发动了摩托乱撞,一个则发疯一样的拿刀朝群众挥舞。但赶来的市民越来越多,几十个人在一起,经过几分钟的博斗,两名歹徒终于被制服,并被扭送到派出所。在抓获歹徒的过程中,有几名市民受了轻伤。

据市场里的几名商家反映,逮住的这两个歹徒之前就常在该市场附近转悠,有好几个人被抢过,这次终于被大家逮住,真是大快人心。

据警方透露,持刀的歹徒半个月前刚从监狱放出来,坐牢也是因为飞车抢夺。随后,两人被警方送往医院。

据了解,这已是第二起发生在温州的群众自发对付飞车抢夺歹徒事件了。去年12月19日,同样是面对飞车抢夺的歹徒,温州某酒店保安郭小亮举起自行车,毅然砸了过去。这一砸,歹徒被抓住了,他也一夜之间成为了全国皆知的抡车侠。(完)

Weird VGA card problem!

I got this 2.5 years old customer PC which recently always hang in WinXP randomly because the PCI-e NV 7300GT VGA card is a bit faulty (those transistor on the VGA become fat, expanding), so I let the PC run with the motherboard integrated VGA for some days and everything is fine, (this show the motherboard is ok); after that I replace the 7300GT with a 8500GT, to my surprise the PC won't even boot into the BIOS but always direct the video output to the motherboard integrated VGA, so I tot it is the 8500GT problem then I replace another 8500GT, and also a 9400GT, but the same problem happen, weird thing is when put the faulty 7300GT back then it manage to boot, (this show the PCI-e slot is working), I already try with difference PSU but still the same, so what could be the problem?????? any others suggestion that I should try with?? weird. . . really weird. . .

The PC spec is as below :

Intel C2D 4300 1.8Ghz
Acbel 325W PSU
Asus P5GZ-MX with latest BIOS!!
1Gb DDR2 X 1
160Gb HDD X 1
DVD+RW X 1

(P/S : both 8500GT & 9400GT fan is spinning)

Fingerprint reader with SDK

Been in the programming line for some years, I never play with any fingerprint reader before, so now I am thinking to get one and try with it :

1) Where can I get this thing? I visit few shops that sell receipt printer / barcode scanner / cashdrawer one but they say don't have.

2) I just need a low end modal coz low budget, so around how much it will cost?

3) Will difference brand & modal of fingerprint reader share some standard command to control it? just like how usually same command code will work on difference brand & modal of receipt printer / cashdrawer.

Acer LCD warranty

As a hardware dealer, I sold few 19" Acer LCD to one of my regular customer at May/2007, then last month April/2009 one of the LCD got problem and I help the customer RMA it, then today my supplier contact me and told me the LCD panel got problem, which Acer only provide 1 year warranty on it (but others part got 3 years warranty) for this particular 19" modal, so cannot warranty; I double check and call up to the Acer official local service center to confirm about it, and I get the same answer, 1 year warranty only one the panel; so I was like WTF is this?? when I brought it nobody told me about this, everyone also know that most of these branded LCD do provide 3 years warranty, and now this Acer told me the main component of the LCD, the panel only got 1 year warranty? I feel like I cheating my customer, is this how the way Acer doing their business??

802.11n vs 802.11g

Is draft-n just a useless jargon use to push the network product under the market strategy?? I found out those 802.11n network product is a bit bluff, it didn't perform according with the specification it stated, some perform only just like the 802.11g. So any network pro want to share your experience here? got any nice and strong signal yet not very expensive wireless N product to recommend?

[addedon]March 27, 2009, 11:03 pm[/addedon]I setup quite a number of those 802.11g router/adapter for some customer before, the signal strength is still ok at around 40%-60% within 40/50 feets radius inside a building; so last week a customer want to setup online sharing between his shop A and shop B, this 2 shop is 55 feets long back to back facing each others divided by a small road around 20 feets wide, so I thought a 3 antenna 802.11n router and 802.11n adapter will complete the mission, but it is not, I put the router at the front part of shop A, then plug the adaptor to my laptop, moving to the back door I got 50% signal, get out from shop A I got 20%-30% signal only, just get into shop B signal drop to 10%, then totally no signal, try another brand router/adapter, also around the same; this is nothing much difference then those 802.11g one, right?? (on the router packing box even printed up to 300m coverage, what a shit. . . )

(p/s : shop A & shop B is consider quite [empty] also, just 2 partition office room without concrete wall blocking; and due to customer budget, I am using those entry level RM300+ router and RM200+ adapter only, but it already cost 50% more expensive then the 802.11g one, yet performance, shit??)

DVD to VGA/DVI

Lowyat which shop got sell it? price is around how much?
Can it run on most of the LCD nowadays? (normal screen / wide screen) and can support what resolution? 1024*768? 1280*1240?

Streamyx Riger DB102 modem

How to disable the Streamyx Riger DB102 modem [self destroy function]? The modem suicide everytime after I change the userid/password and press the [summit] button or the [commit and reboot] button, 3 modems gone already.

1) 1st modem, at first the modem is working one, but after I go change my streamyx account password in the modem and press the [summit] button, the modem just hang there and cannot online, so after wait for some minutes I off the modem and on again, then all the 4 light [Power, Link, Data, PC] is on, the modem is dead, type 192.168.1.1 also no respone.

2) 2nd modem, after wait for 2 weeks I get replace with a new modem from my supplier, and same case happen when I try to change my password, this time only 2 light is on [Power, PC], the [Link, Data] light is off, try on and off the modem 100+ times also same.

3) 3rd modem, so today I go to the TMNet shop and get a modem exchange, then the modem dead after I key in the userid/password and click the [summit] button for 2 times, coz the 1st time the modem didn't get connected and cannot online, this time 3 light is on [Power, Link, Data], the [PC] light is off, try on and off the modem 100+ times also same.

For the above 3 modems, I have tested the phone line, PC and also notebook with my another DLink modem and confirm it is working fine, and also try press the modem reset button before, but seem like the reset button is build for display only, it didn't FUNCTION AT ALL.

Tomorrow I need to go TMNet shop again, waste my time AGAIN, BROVA!!!

I think this is the most inferior modem I have ever use before, should I send this topic message to riger@tm.net.my???

Upgrade CPU, need to reinstall WinXP?

I need to help my customer update his PC from AMD Sempron 3400 AM2 with 512Mb DDR2 to X2 4000 AM2 with 1Gb DDR2, do I need to reinstall WinXP and everything??

So can anyone here confirm me about this? TQ!!

(P/S : It got more then 5 PC and loaded with a lot of software also, so if possible I don't want to waste time on reinstalling all this.)
