this is my first time OC...i consulted my friend before OC...he said my rig capable of OC...this is the spec of my rig:

Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU @ 2.66GHz
Kingston KHX8500D2K2 2G (Hyper X)
Cooler Master 550w Gaming Extreme
Thermaltake V1 for CPU cooler

the problem here is the reading of the cpu temperature is confusing..I used everest which reading 28c-38c...while CPUID Hardware Monitor started at 56c-71c...thus i dont know which reading is true...

1.which reading i have to take as the right one

2.what is the cause such confusion in temperature reading for those applications...my friends use these applications and their temperature readings is parallel...both applications have the same reading...thus,what is wrong with mine?is it I have to setting something in the BIOS?

3.in everest my cpu multiplier sometimes goes up and down...as in the pictures sometimes x6 and another time x8...is it x6 for idle and x8 for load?

please help me here...really afraid if the hardware would damage..really appreciate the helps in coming...
