[Guide] Astro Ultra Box 4k Splitter

I recently upgraded from normal Astro Box to the latest Astro Ultra Box for the 4k content. Turns out my old splitter and hdmi cables is unable to support it as you need newer version for 4k.

So I shopped around Shopee and got this :

Turns out you need a certified 4k HDMI splitter and Hdmi 2.0 cables (explain below) for it to work properly.

I manage to split both pictures into my Sharp 4k Tv & Aoc Monitor with 1080p resolution only. This is because the splitter has a 4k to 1080p downscaler but it needs hdmi 2.0 cable for it to work as it requires more bandwidth to carry the signal than Hdmi 1.4 cable.
Now even the picture on my Aoc monitor looks sharper and clearer than the standard hdmi old Astro box. It is more like a budget 4k but certainly better quality than a standard 1080p. Maybe 2k to me.

Test : I tried connecting my Astro Ultra Box with 2160p(4k) resolution to my Aoc 1080p monitor direcly with Hdmi 2.0 but it doesn't work. The only way for it to work if you change the Astro Ultra Box picture quality settings to 1080p.

Turns out this splitter is useful for the following :
1.) 4k into 2 4ks
2.) 4k into 1 4k & 1 1080p
3.) 4k into 2 1080p

Hence you can upgrade to Astro Ultra Box first even if you don't have a 4k tv. The splitter downscaler works like a charm if not better than standard 1080p. Or you could just change the resolution of the Astro Ultra Box settings.

I am not promoting this splitter or products. Just want to share my tech findings.

I can now watch the 4k content in my living room and another room away with normal 1080p monitor.

We finally did it in a lan game in cc.
