Logged on to Vista notebook with blank screen

Hi, I have problem with my Vista Business notebook which is joined to Windows domain. After I have logged on successfully using a domain user; which has administrative rights on the notebook, I can only see blanks screen and the mouse pointer before this error message popped out:

"Explorer has stopped working"

"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

The only option is to click the "Close program" button and then the only thing I can see is a blank screen.

When I press Ctrl+Alt+Del, I can still choose to Lock this computer, Switch User, Log off, Change a password... and Start Task Manager. If I were to go to Task Manager, the message "Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator." popped out.

If I try to log on as a local administrator, then the "log on to" will change from the domain name to ReAct_"username", so I suspected that it could be virus infection. The only thing that I could think of that caused the virus is the usage of usb drive from my colleague but the antivirus didn't detect anything.

I have tried to go in Safe Mode but the result was the same.

The only thing I can think of is to take the hard disk out, backup, reformat and reinstall everything.

But I would like to check if there is any other alternative besides reformatting the hard disk.

Any one can help?
